Big Day at Villa Park

Post by Winstonswhite » Sun Jul 12, 2020 1:07 pm

Really is getting last chance saloon for Aston Villa now. Vs Palace today and if they lose, you e got to say they’ll be nailed on for relegation back to the Championship. I’d also probably predict that Dean Smith will be let go.

And that’s where the problem lies. A vacancy at Villa Park.

I really think Dyche may have his head turned. I don’t care what anyone says, Villa are a very big club, certainly bigger than us. Our Sean is getting itchy feet and would be confident of achieving promotion back to the Prem at his first attempt- especially if he could convince Grealish to stay.

He’d be then at a club getting 40k every other week with chairmen worth 5 billion quid- not 68 million ala Garlick.

All I can say is Come on Villa, get a win please

Dyche is going to go at some time anyway. Even if Villa. stay up, they still probably sack Smith - that's a bigger pull as they'll still be in the top flight

Jack Grealish will definitely leave Aston Villa this summer.

Would SD want to go back to the Championship with no guarantee of coming back up.

Look at Fulham who spent over £100 million, went back down, and now can't even make the top 2 so have to rely on the raffle of the playoffs.

He’d have to be tempted. Bigger budget, bigger club, more money to spend and nearer to his family home.

Does he want to go back to the Championship is a big question and also, how much control will he have over things (although that appears to be diminishing a little at Burnley).

It may well come down to his perception of the owner and indeed whether Villa want his style of play.

I think Everton is Dyches next job. A better fit than Villa.

What if he took the Villa job and didn't get them promoted?
He would be sacked and his career in tatters.

It would take more than a few months to get that Villa side disciplined enough for Dyche and most boards are far more trigger happy than Burnley's.

I agree with this. Smith is a goner even if they stay up (very unlikely if they dont win today and dodgy even then).
Surely, a club already in the Prem is more attractive than a club that has a battle on its hands trying to get out of the Championship (not an easy task as many recent Prem clubs are finding).
We dont know how the Villa owners will react to relegation, they've spent a lot of money this season (£130-140 million net) for precious little return if they go down.

SD's head might get turned but cant see it being by Villa.

If Jack Grealish continues to improve he could be the next Jonjo Shelvey.

They were close to sacking him a couple of weeks ago. I don’t think he has a chance of keeping his job once this season is over.

If only the villa board had the same common sense as the Burnley board, stick with the man who’s already achieved, what you want to achieve again

Dyche has proved his value. He doesn't need to take a step back to go forwards.

I can't see Dyche leaving us this summer with the new season kicking off in mid September. Dyche won't have long enough to put his mark on a new club, especially Villa who are a mess

Do understand the bigger club/budget/nearer home argument. Don’t think Dyche would take a drop to the Championship. Think the bigger risk for us is that Villa stay up.

I think if Villa go down which is more than likely then they'll punt Smith, but Dyche wouldn't be keen on dropping a division - especially to a club where if outside the top six as a minimum by Christmas the new manager would probably be sacked. Promotion in the first season would be an absolute must. If Villa stay up, they'll be after a big name IMO and spend another load of money this summer.

From our perspective, that’s a plus with the bigger clubs. Many of them have these delusions of grandeur, which make it less likely that they’d punt for someone like Dyche.

More fool them and a bonus for us, if that transpires to be the case.

Villa to avoid relegation.
Sack Smith
Dyche takes charge.

Villa PL winners 20/21

You should bet someone else's house on it.

If they stay up - the money is there for Poch to energise a young group of players - the problem is the sporting director who signed all those players last summer - Smith forced the Heaton purchase and he was the only one with Premier League experience, that is the worry for any new manager/coach aligning the Sporting Director, which is also the fear someone who likes to exercise a wide sphere of control like Dyche would have.

I have to respectfully disagree...

Everton have a superiority complex so ingrained I don’t think they’d even consider SD let alone approach/appoint him. Their loss really, I reckon he’d do a real job there.

Villa I can see happening, but not Everton. They’d want a superstar name.

Was the same when Tim Sherwood was manager. They signed loads of players he didn't want/had never heard of, and said right................ coach them! He said it was an impossible job, Smith has struggled working to same script, would Dyche work to that? Doubtful.

Well Everton appointed Marco Silva, and his record wasn't as good as Dyche's, but they've probably moved on since then.

Villa is the one job that i could see SD being interested in, but if they go down it might not be so attractive to him.

;) Good man.

Yesterday has kicked me up the arse btw. How AWESOME are we? Best days of my life these.... SD is the man for our club, it’s one of those rare moments when stars align and things just work. We are very lucky, because we’ve experienced it twice in recent times. Difference being, one manager believed In his own legend, and the other has an earthiness about him that’s almost humble.

I think SD knows he has built something special here, and the level of Input and control he has here
probably wouldn’t be matched ANYWHERE else.

Proudsville.

With a handful of exceptions, Villa are a collection of mercenary non-achieving p1ss-bags.

Dyches strength in dealing with fragile egos and pampered unpronounceable ballet dancers is far from proven.
Needs to be careful what he wishes for.

He was Portuguese and he wasn't Dyche so instantly he was a superior manager to Dyche according to his fan club

West Ham & Watford have to play each other so one team will drop points. Watford also have to play Chelsea. I think it might get close!

Maybe not now.

West Ham & Watford have to play each other so one team will drop points. Watford also have to play Chelsea. I think it might get close!
That win was massive for them and gives them a chance, but still think they’ll fall short, I actually want West Ham to go down, so if Bournemouth or villa escape the drop that’d do for me!

I think Ancellotti will walk at the end of the season so there will be a vacancy.
He's going to walk away from a £10m+ a year contract is he doubt it, Everton appointed him for the long haul, that's why he's on a long-term contract, because the Everton gig is a long-term project. Ancelotti will expect big money in the next transfer window, but he'll probably get that.

The Villa fans want Poch https://www.villatalk.com/topic/20377-new-manager/
He is lined up for Newcastle, if Saudis win their day.
