Interesting how far Jay Rod is ahead of the other strikers and Vydra ahead of Barnes given the number of games they have both had.
We are really blessed in that department at the moment.

As someone said the other day, Tarks has developed into a rolls Royce of a player. A collosis, skillful, leader and he bullies the opposition. Better than McQuire and only VVD surpasses him imo.

Very surprised to see Danny Drinkwater appear on the list, even if he is joint last

You could make a case for about 6 or 7 players being POTY which shows how good the team has been, especially since the Leicester game

A very well deserved winner of POTY. For consistency throughout the whole season there is only really Pope and the skipper who could come close.
Well played Tarky!!

He deserves this award.
I think he has come on leaps and bounds over the last season or two. He used to have a habit of needlessly going for the Hollywood pass, giving the ball away or getting caught in possession; but this has now gone from his game. His reading of situations and authority has now made him one of the best centre backs in the premier league.

And still like so many of our players. Not considered good enough for Gareth Southgate's England team

Not challenging your statement, but what you are saying is that Tarky would be a first choice pick at every club in the land, including City, Liverpool ( alongside VVD), Chelsea and United ?summitclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jul 14, 2020 9:36 amAs someone said the other day, Tarks has developed into a rolls Royce of a player. Of those 14 points won by Barnes, 10 of them came on the opening day against Southampton

I agree with Summit, I think Tarkowski would start for every Premier League side, as mentioned alongside VVD at Liverpool and alongside Laporte at City, each other team he would be first choice.

Re: ARTICLE: Tarkowski wins player of the year for second time
I genuinely believe that Tarks would easily fit in alongside VVD, Laporte or Maguire to sure up their defences. Given he would count towards their homegrown quota too, it's surprising that they're not looking more seriously at him as an option.
If we could swap for any of Joe Gomez, Otamendi, Stones, Lindelof or Matip would we? I certainly wouldnt.

Off topic a little bit but I feel a tad sorry for Barnes. People forget how incredible he was at the start of the season and what he can bring to our team. He was then obviously playing whilst carrying an injury for a while.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Jul 14, 2020 11:58 amOf those 14 points won by Barnes, 10 of them came on the opening day against Southampton
A fit Ashley Barnes would be tremendous for Burnley.

Re: ARTICLE: Tarkowski wins player of the year for second time
What has happened this season is that we started with Barnes and Wood with Rodriguez and Vydra as back up. Now we've got four strikers all able to start games for us.Jakubs Tash wrote: ↑Tue Jul 14, 2020 1:39 pmOff topic a little bit but I feel a tad sorry for Barnes. Re: ARTICLE: Tarkowski wins player of the year for second time
Absolutely correct, Tarks would start for any PL team. Not only that, he is light years ahead of any other English central defender playing at the moment. I do not understand how Southgate does not realize that fact.Claretloup:

I "get" that Southgate wants a goalie who can attempt Cruyff turns in his box rather that stop shots so Nick won't get a game, but Tarks??? No excuses.

Re: ARTICLE: Tarkowski wins player of the year for second time
Tarks is crap and extremely overrated, I fully encourage all other teams to look elsewhere for a new CB, he's nothing but trouble, can't head the ball, distribution is awful and his captaincy skills are non-existent - deffo take your money elsewhere..
