Tonight's footy 14/7/20
5pm: West Brom v Fulham (Sky Sports)
8.15pm: Chelsea v Norwich City (Sky Sports + Pick)
The race for 2nd is on between WBA and Brentford. If Fulham win tonight, which I think is very possible, then Brentford play Preston tomorrow - beat Preston and Brentford jump into 2nd place on Goal Difference.

Re: Tonight's footy 14/7/20
I'm hoping the Championship top 4 works like that (Fulham to beat WBA today, Bees to beat PNE tomorrow). Points would then be
Leeds 84+ whatever they get v Barnsley on Thursday
Brentford 81
WBA 81
Fulham 79
well clear of the rest.
That would make the last couple of rounds very tense for 2nd/3rd/4th. Brentford have a relatively easy last two (Stoke away, Barnsley home) and it's a nice easy trip for me if they come up + will be a new ground (although I liked their old place well enough).
I cant see Norwich upping their game enough to beat Chelsea away given how theyve been playing - even if Chelsea seem capable of throwing in the odd duff performance lately.

Re: Tonight's footy 14/7/20
West Brom are making hard work of getting over the line, and they could yet be pipped at the post by the Bees, who are flying.
Chelsea can cement their top 4 place, i know they've been inconsistent this season, but surely Norwich at home should be a stroll in the park for them.
The big plus for Chelsea is Man U play Leicester on the final day, so that should give them some breathing space in the CL race.
Of course Chelsea still have Liverpool & Wolves to play, so it'll likely go right to the wire.
Plenty of other big games in the Champ.
Cardiff-Derby
Millwall-Blackburn
They both leap out at you as vital to the play-off race, hopefully a race which Rovers will be out of by 10 tonight.
Huddersfield, Hull, Luton and Boro face make or break games in the relegation fight, but that's likely to go down to the last day as well, there's so many teams involved down there.

Re: Tonight's footy 14/7/20
Wins for Brentford and Fulham would definitely keep it interesting, i disagree that Stoke away is an easy game for Brentford, Stoke's home form has been strong, they've only lost 2 out 12 at home, so that's a difficult fixture, and Stoke are still fighting for their lives, Barnsley on the final day, well Barnsley could be down by then, but equally they could be scrapping for survival, and you just never know when the pressure's on, it can throw up some surprises.LeadBelly wrote: ↑Tue Jul 14, 2020 3:05 pmI'm hoping the Championship top 4 works like that (Fulham to beat WBA today, Bees to beat PNE tomorrow). There's no disgrace in Norwich going down, but if i was a Canaries fan i'd be worried about the manner of their relegation, they aren't even showing any fight, and they could be looking at 10 straight defeats to end their season, and the danger is that this form spills over into next season, and they start slowly in the Championship.

Re: Tonight's footy 14/7/20
I'd definitely prefer Brentford to grab 2nd place. I think they'd be the team most likely to struggle next season when compared to Fulham and WBA.
Quite right, I forgot about the other games - be nice if any chance of Rovers making the playoffs is wiped out.
Cardiff vs Derby could be close.

Re: Tonight's footy 14/7/20
For Rovers to make the play-offs they'll have to win all their 3 remaining games, and hope for several teams to slip up, it's unlikely but the sooner they can't mange it the better.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Tue Jul 14, 2020 3:33 pmI'd definitely prefer Brentford to grab 2nd place. Re: Tonight's footy 14/7/20
The maximum Rovers can get is 69 points. Cardiff are on 64, but there's teams such as Swansea, Preston and Millwall as well, so even if one slips up, you'd expect one of the others to make it home.
Cardiff vs Derby and Millwall vs Rovers are the games to keep an eye on.

I'm looking forward to Brentford in PL. It will be nearest PL stadium to me. Just hope we aren't playing them, at Brentford, early season when covid-19 is still "messing us around."LeadBelly wrote: ↑Tue Jul 14, 2020 3:05 pmI'm hoping the Championship top 4 works like that (Fulham to beat WBA today, Bees to beat PNE tomorrow). Think Southampton made the CL places very interesting last night, plus, of course, CAS's decision re City. And, not just "a lot to play for" for the final 2 CL places, but also keeps the EL places very competitive, with lucky, until the last round of games. It all depends on Burnley v Wolves wed evening.

Wigan ahead against Hull, it could all be for nothing, but the players and Paul Cook keep picking up the results. If they carry on like this they might stay up even with the 12 point penalty.

In which case they would start next season on -12 points as the deduction is not made this season unless it invokes relegation.

Ah! yes forgot that, Wigan's biggest problem will be keeping hold of their better players, and i can see some Championship clubs eyeing up Paul Cook if they pot their managers, he's doing a great job in the circumstances.

Finished goalless at the Hawthorns, Brentford have a real chance to be right on West Brom's tail tomorrow.
1-1 Reading-Boro, be a decent point for Boro, but they should be OK anyway, as the bottom 3 are dire.

Great spirit being shown by Wigan! Good for them.
Hopefully they stop up....at Boro's expense.

Often the case after a big first half lead that they don’t add many more after the break

Surely, surely, got to be 10. Anything less and I'd class it as a poor second half.

7-0 half time.
8-0 full time.
Often the way. I was actually joking when I suggested the game would finish 7-0, but it almost did.

Deadwood's Rankin-Costello booked for a bad foul in the first minute at Millwall. He'll have to very careful now or he'll be off.

I remember the 7-0 win against Port Vale in 1983/84. Was six at half time, the seventh went in on 49 minutes and I heard people moaning coming off saying it had been a poor second half.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Tue Jul 14, 2020 7:55 pm7-0 half time.

I wouldn’t because of the Pope situation. United don’t want any of our players.Gordaleman wrote: ↑Tue Jul 14, 2020 8:44 pmI'd rather Chelski got there than Man Ure.
BBC are all over Man Ure as it is, without giving them something else to crow about.
Also would marginally prefer NW clubs to dominate the CL places to annoy the Southern media.

None of our best players will be going anywhere unless they want to and if they do want to leave, they probably will do regardless of whether certain teams qualify for Europe. I don't think it's just Chelski that's looking at some of our better players.
