God almighty are you serious? She sounded bloody awful vocally , while female summary /commentary can work well in some sports it just doesn’t in football . She vaguely reminded of someone “ having a go” after winning a competition . The nonsense spouted about Westwood “ stepping up” to the prem was pure farce . There’s been some dreadful commentary since the return but this was up there .
I reckon if you were a neutral or a West Ham fan I dont think you'd notice her little slips and probably found her very good and a refreshing change.

Not the best for us but we are the minority and BT shouldnt have to worry about a few upset Burnley fans

My beef is why the camera focussed on the bandits who are destroying WHU
The targeting of managers as the game is flowing is also irritating.

Peter Drury and Phil Thompson on NBCSN. Seems foreigners get better commentary teams than those in the UK. Thompson in particular was very complimentary and informative. You could tell he knew a lot about us.

As a paid commentator- she clearly has done nothing to research
Burnley and the “.... Dyches has a pub named after him...

Really?

Only thing they said that I did not know was that it’s 73 years since doing the double over WHU...

Although the standard of analysis is usually pretty low I always assumed that the point of having a professional commentator with an ex pro was so that the ex pro could provide an insight from their own experience. Surely you can’t do this if you’ve never played at this level?

I’ve not read the whole thread, but that co-commentator was dreadful. Too critical of everything, from tactics, players ability and delivering misinformation. You could tell she’d not seen Burnley before until last week when she researched the team ready for tonight.

I think less is more from a co-commentator, it’s their job to add a bit of colour and clarification from the whats been described. They shouldn’t be taking over and pulling apart tactics and the style of play, just a bit of tactical insight from experience is enough.

It’s like she was bullshitting her way the game with the presumption the people listening don’t know anything about football.

One of them (I think it was the man) described Westwood as like a Trojan Horse in midfield. I would accept working like a Trojan; I would accept a workhorse. But a Trojan Horse?

There was just one thing that Carney lacked. An off switch. She needs to learn that if she has nothing to say, then she should say it.

The co-commentary from Karen Carney was truly awful. A box ticking exercise of inclusion/positive discrimination rather than talent. Her lack of knowledge and many errors were toe curling.

BT is garbage and so inferior to sky on every level.

Even Sky's 20th choice commentary team of Gary Birtles and Lee Hendrie were better than Karen.

She literally just waffled nonsense throughout the game getting more wrong than right.

I'll be half cut Saturday for the Liverpool game, but mute still might be needed as that will be "the Liverpool show", wonder how many scousers they'll get on for that.

Yeah. I listened to Radio Blackburn for the pre-match commentary versus Palace and last night's pre-match and he referred to us as 'we' even though he started off at Palace. In hindsight. I wish I'd listened to Radio Blackburn commentary and watched the match on TV with the volume off. Carney was absolutely woeful! I think Mr Bean doing a seminar on Nuclear Fusion would have made more sense than she did last night.

My commentary had Mr Monotone Efan Ekoku. He is usually very anti Burnley, but today was quite complimentary! Particularly of Pope, England’s number 1 according to the former Merton Town Nigerian international :)

Clinton Morrison on 5 live is abysmal. He did one of our other matches on TV too. Surely a prerequisite of broadcasting is to be able to string a sentence together and actually make sense. It’s an embarrassment. How has he got this job ?

She also made the number one mistake of many pundits; she talked too much. A sensible approach would be to be somewhat guarded based on any information she may have had on the back of a fag packet but instead she waded in with both feet demonstrating a level of embarrassment and incompetence probably yet unrivalled.

Problem with that is they're never aligned - Radio commentary is usually a few seconds ahead of the telly.

It's the first time I've heard her, I don't know what her experience is... maybe her style it what they wanted, some might find her approach refreshing... it's just not to my taste. But my opinion though, is that she was ******* dreadful.

But the top dogs at BT Sport will know though, so they'll either sack her off or continue to develop her. Part of me likes that she is opinionated, maybe that's her angle and why she's been employed - most female analysts tend to sit on the fence, but maybe BT wants a female version of Roy Keane.

I'm not going to complain though. She was ****, but that opinion stays on here behind my username handle. Its why twitter is a cesspit of awfulness, and 'cancel culture' is growing because people have to winge, find offence and complain about anything that doesn't really affect anyone.

I don't think comments on her appearance or sex-life do any posters any credit !

However, she was appalling .... After my 2nd " For God's sake, woman, just shut up ! " of the evening, Mrs Clarets4me came into the Lounge and berated me for my misogyny, and then she sat down to watch .... " She can't even get Chris Wood's name right " was her first observation, and then came round to my point of view ...

She needs to go to the Richie Benaud/Bill McLaren school of TV commentary, rule one of which is, " If you can't add to what the viewer can see for themself, then shut up ", and rule two is " prepare yourself fully, and do your research " ...

I've said it for a while that Bt Sports coverage of sport in general is very poor. Compare that with new to the game Amazon Primes approach and if anything you would think its BT who are the news boys.

At least with Amazon both teams get proper coverage both pre and post match. BT didn't even start their coverage until 15 minutes before kick off last night, I even had to keep checking I had it on the right channel ffs

Another "Carney Classic" at the 2nd half drinks break

"The drinks break has come at the wrong time for West Ham because they're building up a head of steam"

In the 5 minutes leading up to it we were all over West Ham like a cheap suit and could have extended our lead a couple of times in that period
