Re: BBC commentary
I think Lineker's dislike of all things Burnley is becoming more and more apparent each time I see him. Definitely struggling to say anything decent about us at all nowadays. But, We are Burnley and we don't care LOL

Re: BBC commentary
The commentators were a damn sight better than the pair covering the Arsenal - Liverpool match on Sky.
Martin Tyler used to be good. I can hardly bear to listen to him now, with his rambling, his bursts of laughter mid-sentence, and his excruciating AND IT'S LIVE.

Re: BBC commentary
The whole thing was a shambles, I don't think Lineker even knew who he had in the studio with him. They won't be getting the PL back any time soon.
Re: BBC commentary
Lineker is quite complimentary towards us on twitter occasionally.
That coverage tonight was terrible though. Was looking at comments online from fans of other teams who said the same thing

Dion Dublin on commentary and the camera work were both awful tonight.

Seemed to spend most of the game watching replays or close ups of the players and managers while the game went on.

Guys, at risk of embarrassing yourself...
The BBC do not control the live broadcasts..they only transmit premier league productions.
So any beef you have with the camera should be directed at the camera producer. Nothing whatsoever to do with BBC.

Re: BBC commentary
Dion Dublin comes across as a nice enough bloke, but god his commentary is awful. No analysis and littered with errors. Always disliked Guy Mowbray - has a really irritiating cadence to his voice and just banged on about the weather tonight.
Somebody the other day dismissed my praise of Jon Champion and Ally McCoist, but they're a damn sight more entertaining and insightful than these two.

Re: BBC commentary
The camera work is even worse than the commentary and that’s saying something. How many times did we miss an attacking phase of play whilst watching a replay listening to the said attack....better listening to the radio at times cos you’re not seeing the match.

Re: BBC commentary
I thought Mowbray and Dublin especially were great tonight, most enjoyable commentary I've heard in ages! Pretty funny and fair, especially on the rougher, physical stuff. Details got a bit ropey towards the end but you can forgive that. Dublin had some good insights, particularly on injuries. Liked it.

Re: BBC commentary
Dion must have been getting paid per word. They’d obviously decided to hammer home the point it was ‘cold’ pre match they mentioned it that much.

Re: BBC commentary
there are two clubs in england, and two only. Arsenal and Spurs.
keown, lineaker, wright, Jenas, are the main pundits. the media are awash with trendy gunners. every podcast, every talk sport programme is tainted by these two. Do not expect anything other than patronising slop from the media for Burnley.

Re: BBC commentary
I have no idea about Guy Mowbray on Dion Dublin. Was watching with Steve Wilson and Phil Neville. Both pretty complimentary of Burnley.
Re: BBC commentary
The BBC was very bad.
Re: BBC commentary
There was nothing at all wrong with the camera work. All the camera men - there is more than one - did their job. When the camera man was focussing on Tarkowski wandering round at the back, it's because he was told to.
I have no idea why the director was showing that picture when the action was at the other end of the field. My best guess is that the proper director was struck down with illness at the last minute and the emergency replacement had never done the job before and didn't know which buttons to press or which screen to watch.

Lineaker: "Maybe Burnley should change their name to Resolute Burnely FC" (or summat) Maybe he should change his to "Tosser Gary Lineaker"
But what a delight to hear how dropped on they all were when we equalised via n the spot. They had just spend quarter of an hour praising Wolves and pouring crap on us. Brilliant

Re: BBC commentary
I thought that was the case, but apparently not. The camera crew are freelance, but the choice over the camera angles is down to the director of the 'host broadcaster', in this case the BBC.superdimitri wrote: ↑Wed Jul 15, 2020 11:11 pmGuys, at risk of embarrassing yourself...

Re: BBC commentary
The BBC won't be in charge of the cameras, that's PL Productions as you say, but surely the editor will be BBC. But whoever was in charge, it was appalling.superdimitri wrote: ↑Wed Jul 15, 2020 11:11 pmGuys, at risk of embarrassing yourself...

Couldn't give a damn. The media - bar one or two journos - have never liked us and never will. Their loss not ours.

Re: BBC commentary
If this is true who chooses between cameras when the game isn't broadcasted in the UK? I've always been of the opinion it's the production company that deal with the streaming and choose the cameras to show and they traditionally do so in the big broadcast vans at the stadium.ChrisG wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2020 10:37 amI thought that was the case, but apparently not. With Covid they are now doing it remotely, but I don't think the BBC receive all the feeds and choose themselves, I think this is done by premier league productions as the feed is then easily shared to the world wide audience.

As far as I'm aware, the broadcasters get the 'full package' of feeds from PL, and then direct them as necessary. Apparently all the camera lads etc are freelance in the main. (Weirdly I know another lad who does the editing on MOTD for the games, and he is freelance too)
