Give over. Watch the replay from behind the goal. Wood was miles away from him.

Re: Resilient
Should have been 1-1 Wood missing that bloody sitter a minute earlier....
Always a penalty ...
Bunmuff down all but the shouting ... they are not going to get 6 points in the next 2 games, and Villa if they don't get something from Everton similarly.
The season is effectively over for them tonight.
The watchword is Resolute tonight .... Jug ears used it tonight and Robbie Kean and Jon Walters repeated it about 3 times each.... (I wonder how many times they have used that word before in their vocabulary .... )

Re: Resilient
The header back across might have been too. He got taken out marginally late too, given anywhere else on the pitch.
Evens up the one they got down there, shame it wasnt 0-0, the golden glove would have been all but Popey's

Re: Resilient
Great desire from the team to just keep going even if we were well off the ball tonight. We looked absolutely knackered, how many sloppy mis-timed passes did we make?
Balls of steel from Woody after missing a sitter. Great ball in from Brady, too. Thought it was a pen personally. The defender whimped out of the challenge and had lots of time prior to get himself and his arm into a better position. It wasn't as if the ball hit him from a couple of yards.

Re: Resilient
Goalie would have struggled to stop that even if Wood had told him where he was going to put it.cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Wed Jul 15, 2020 8:08 pmWord for wood too. That was some finish. Under pressure.
Only one player I've seen take penalties like that and that good, Shearer.

Re: Resilient
Birmingham scored late as well, Juke with an injury time equaliser, to just about ensure their safety.
Ederson didn't keep a clean sheet either, so the GG is still up for grabs.
Reminds me of the Brighton game at the AMEX, we were dire that day, but we hung in and snatched a point at the death.
Shows the character within this squad to keep plugging away, and going till the end.

Re: Resilient
pay back is sometimes so sweet As some keep saying what comes around goes around, been waiting a long time for that, they must be so down after that it will feel like a loss for a while now
Re: Resilient
'Resilient' might be the first word one comes up with.
A tad 'lucky' might be the second.
We were second best for most of the game and looked pretty lethargic
in comparison to Wolves. First half very poor. A notch better in the second.
How did Wood miss that header?
Must admit thought he might miss the penalty but t'was a beauty.

Re: Resilient
That''s the word, we've waited 10 months for justice, and tonight it finally arrived, those 2 points could deprive Wolves of European football next season, especially with Spurs winning tonight.
Just need Liverpool to win at the Emirates now, and we'll stay above Arsenal for at least a few days.
Re: Resilient
Looked like we'd run out of steam big time tonight, as well as picking up another injury to a key player. Great point in the end.
Re: Resilient
But hope Arsenal score a goal to prevent a Liverpool clean sheettiger76 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 15, 2020 8:18 pmThat''s the word, we've waited 10 months for justice, and tonight it finally arrived, those 2 points could deprive Wolves of European football next season, especially with Spurs winning tonight.

Re: Resilient
I think I’m pretty resilient to have recovered so quickly from a horrendous 90 minutes during which the majority of our players seemed to be having a trial for Wolves.
This team usually hangs in there and whilst I didn’t get much satisfaction from the performance, the point was a good one. We’ve had some good performances since the restart so I can excuse a poor one, even more so when we still earn a point against a very good side.

Re: Resilient
We'd have struggled to pass water if there was a bridge over it tonight. We were awful! That said. After that injustice at their place. It evens itself out.
Re: Resilient
Not good on the eye, but my God what a group of players we have...cant believe we had 46% possession

Re: Resilient
Sort of looked out on our feet for most of the game and yet still gained a point
Re: Resilient
Gave it their all once again, stayed in the game... Gave themselves a chance and that gave us a point. Well done everyone. Hope that some of those knocks aint too bad! UTC

Re: Resilient
Resilient is a good word to use for this group of players . We looked cream cracked in the last 20 mins but kept going as best they could . After that miss by wood ( and what a miss !!) , he still had the balls to step up and take a superb penalty even though i thought he'd put it over the bar .

Forget all this guffaw about Wood, have we all missed Longs deft showboat when Bards sold him short....

A great point against a very good side
We were robbed of two at Molyneux so it was nice to get something after such a hard game
Again a stonewall penalty
