Yes he's showed he can do it, but when your lacking confidence things don't go for you, take the chip against Watford, if he was on a roll that would go in instead of hitting the post, and the same with his chance against Sheff Utd, because he knows he needs to impress he's snatching at chances when they come, what he needs is a scrappy 6 yard box goal, however it comes, then he'll be back up and running, we're fortunate that the forward line is one place we're well stocked, all 4 have played their part throughout the season, and that's exactly what you require in this league.
Then he needs Sean to put an arm round him and tell him he won't be yanked off if he doesn't score, because I think that's playing on his mind.

As I just said to Bosscat, I hope he gets a hat trick at Norwich.

How many did Vydra score when he was top scorer in the Championship?

if you agree with gordaleman or not, which I certainly don’t.he is entitled to his opinion . No matter how far off the mark you might think he is, let him have his opinion, it all leads to healthy debate which is what this board should be about. Don’t resort to insults and cheap shots!!!
Of course he is - never said he wasn’t.
But saying Brady was “waste of a sub” when he had a major part in the goal and what he said about Wood only being able to score from Tarks and Mee’s assists is going to get other posters challenging him.

I agreed with a lot of what he said on Brady. As for Wood he was having a shocker last night and I think Vydra could have easily started before him - and probably deserved to.

You sound a bit unhinged to be honest ! Have a rest from the board - it will do you the world of good.
Of course you are entitled to your opinion but when you start making up stuff like you have on where he gets his goals from its all starts to sound a bit crazy.

Do you know how many assists Tarks and Mee have in total for Burnley ?
And do you know how many of them assisted Chris Wood in scoring ?

As I said take a rest from the board.

Well if Jay's out then we might as well give him a real chance against Norwich and Brighton, those are games we should create chances in, so if he wants to send a message to Sean then that'll be his chance.

TBF to Vydra he hasn't sulked like Gibson did, and he's waited patiently for his turn, he's shown with his goals against Southampton and Bournemouth that he's got ability, he just needs to show this on a more regular basis.

If he bags early at Norwich, you never know he could fill his boots. And he should get the full 90 minutes, as apart from young Thompson, there's not an obvious replacement on the bench, so he shouldn't have to worry about being hooked.

Yes, Brady made one good pass, but other players made lots of good passes. It's not their fault if those passes don't lead to goals, they are still good passes. What else did Brady do? Not much is the answer.

Also, best pass of the night was Vydra's header that put a goal on a plate for Wood. Not Vydra's fault Wood fluffed his lines. As you say Wood was having a shocker last night.

Taking a break from the board worked for me in the last few weeks !!

I’m just happy we are talking about football again. And it’s even good to be debating Robbie Brady as at least it means he’s been on the pitch.

I personally wouldn't have triggered Brady's 1 year extension, however now that the club have, we should all get behind him, and the rest of the squad.

I had my head in my hands too with his first couple of involvements in the game - he was half asleep. But we needed to make subs - our players are tired and last night they were dropping like flies near the end. I am not pretending for a second Brady changed the game but we needed to bring a sub on and he did make a good quality pass....but saying it was a waste of a sub in the position we were in just feels too harsh.
But hey ho - if that’s your opinion...fine.

I agree - it surprised me too initially. But after trying to work out why we did I think it was probably a financial decision about how much it would cost to go out and get another wide player....and also knowing there was a big chance we would lose Hendrick and Lennon.
We still need another wide player in my view.

Next season with 5 Subs.

We need a bench / squad with at least enough quality to cover this (excluding keeper).
Brady is in that group and it's financially better to keep him than trying to replace him.

What we do need is someone who has a right foot in the squad - We've 3 that are so left footed in MF. This makes us so predictable down the right unless Westwood pings one in and he is not a wideman.

Brady is a good player to retain. Simply because it would cost so much to replace him when the money for this would be better spent elsewhere.
We also don't know who is going to get poached from us either.

Definitely agree we need another wide player, we can't keep relying on Dwight to create everything.

Nobody knows yet whether or not there will be five subs. It's up to individual league to decide what they want. I don't know why any team not in the top six would vote for it, but who knows?

No bet. I'm sure it will be implemented if the big six want it. What with VAR and this, they seem determined to ruin the 'Beautiful game'.

House, I'm not forcing my morals on anyone. I responded to a question (I think it was about Trump.) and just said "I have morals, Trump and Johnson don't.) Trouble is, if someone on here doesn't like you, they jump on every little thing and say you've said something that you haven't. Effectively lying about you.

The same sort of people who got this site closed down earlier today.
Sorry bud, wasn’t having a dig (you know me) I was just making a point about morals.

A fully fit, regularly playing, Robbie Brady, is a huge asset to a squad like ours.

I thought last night he wanted to make an impact and not let the team down, but is really low on confidence which is understandable. As a result he wanted to get rid of the ball quickly, and could not take advantage of several good situations.A pre-season will hopefully bring him back inthe fold. On a positive JBG's quick cross led to our goal. We really have missed his pin point crosses

Agreed he often got rid of the ball quickly with a side ways pass, opportunities to run into the space created were ignored for some reason, personally I think he’s frightened to death to really bust a guy in case he gets injured again. He was often drifting way to central and hiding from the game unfortunately, it’s a shame to see it and hopefully he can shake it off and get back to the level he was at before his injury. I for one was one that was bigging him up when he was playing brilliantly for us and in great form. However this being said, I think the one year option which was taken up by the club may have been to use him as a bartering chip in any potential swap deals this window or to recoup some money.

Wood’s our best goal scorer, as he’s proven with two goals in two games on his return to the team. That’s why Dyche will always select him in front of Vydra who is far less clinical.

Vyds did more in ten mins than Wood did in the whole match. If he'd been on from the start he would probably have got three.

Still, who cares. Guaranteed a minimum position of 10th. That'll do for me. As you say, a goal's a goal. (Even if it was spawny.)

Came on as a sub and got an assist with a corner for ROI. Always can make something from a set piece, even under pressure. Here's hoping for a fully fit Brady and some nice set pieces this season!

Robbie was busy when he came on had sort of a free roll , i expect him to start on Sunday
Hew was brought on to make an impact, and he certainly did that, he could well start on Sunday, the ROI had loads of possession last night, but they created little from open play, so set-pieces become even more important to them.

It won't do us any harm Robbie getting minutes under his belt, and competitive action beats pre-season kickabouts anytime.

I hope he does start on Sunday, what Burnley need is for him to get a decent run of games under his belt, and regain his confidence, he showed even in his brief cameo last night that he's capable of creating openings, and a fully fit Robbie would be a huge boost to us next season.

Just have a feeling that Robbie will replace McCarthy in midfield who looked to be carrying an injury .
I think another couple will play also as Colman and McGoldrick will start , hey just a guess .

Well Kenny will have to do something to shake up his squad, that performance was nowhere near good enough, and you guys got out of jail big time.

TBF it probably doesn't help when England keep nicking all your best players.

Wonder if Dyche watched the game. I saw in the highlight he was playing with a 10 on his shirt. Perhaps he can play that role and switch around with McNeil for Burnley?
