Ok for all those who like him these are some of the quotes from an Irish Forum in the last week and what they think of Jeff.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Aug 11, 2020 8:23 pmHe’s been a Premier League player for four years and would not have played all those games had he been Championship level. +1. Hendricks is a perfect example of what Dyche's Burnley is all about. There's no 'I' in 'TEAM'.

That's a good point, however it poses a question: Do you watch the Clarets hoping to see Man City type skills or watch Burnley play to get a favourable result? For me, I watch every game on telly and don't give a rats ar*e if we play like crap as long as the result is in our favour.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 8:09 pmSo do the cleaners, but I wouldn't pay good money to watch them.

I agree with Tony that he was an effective part of our framework but can understand the comments that have been repeated by Derby, Burnley and ROI fans over a number of years.
He is a much better player than he often shows and I think he sacrifices individual glory for the sake of the team.

139 games for Burnley, 54 for Ireland. Even if those weren't the opinions of three anonymous people I'm not sure why they'd be in a better position to judge him than us. It does of course make a difference that he's played with better players and management for Burnley than for Ireland, so we're bound to see better of him as a whole.Tribesmen wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 8:26 pmOk for all those who like him these are some of the quotes from an Irish Forum in the last week and what they think of Jeff.

Who will fill the empty marmite jar now? We always need a marmite player. Wood might be able to step in but he's bagged too many goals , what was his final tally 14 from 14 times he stayed onside phenomenal stats.

As do we, IMO. Obviously when we play badly it's not entertaining, but if you read the Bournemoth message board when they are losing, they aren't entertained either.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 9:46 pmI like entertainment as well as a good result. Leicester have a thread about Dwight McNeil and someone says that he wouldn't do for Leicester because McNeil's speciality is firing it in for the big men who are desperate to get into the box. As if being desperate to get into the box is a bad thing. But if you think back to every single highlight in your time watching Burnley (apart from possibly Ball's tackle on Dunn), don't they all happen in or around the penalty area?

He was steady at best. Ran around a lot and got maybe 2-3 goals a season. basically a younger George Boyd

Comical to see the publicity machine at Newcastle frantically trying to talk up the (possible) signing of Hendrick.
Clearly the financial circus there neccestitates getting in some "" free's"" atm, and whilst Jeff's agent has clearly been pushing some fantasy where he's being relentlessly pursued by elite clubs, the reality is a bit starker.
He'll go there as a squad player whilst we've brought in a significant upgrade on him.
If we'd really been that bothered about keeping him I'm damned sure we would have.

I don't know how anyone can make such a statement when Browhall has only played a handful of premier league games, the dury is still out on him.

Opinions.
I respect yours, but personally feel I've seen more to excite me from Brownhill in a handful of games than from Hendrick in 3 seasons.

Re: Hendrick set to leave
He certainly was a marmite player. I for one can admit that one a few occasions I have cursed very loudly at him for a sloppy touch to give away position or not finding a man quick enough. His work rate was generally phenomenal and he was the epitome of a team player, played in whatever role Dyche wanted him to play even if it wasn't his strongest suit. Didn't throw any tantrums or caused a fuss, just got on with it. He has a great attitude and I respect him greatly for that. Certainly part of the mantra of Dyche and the club.
This I believe has contributed to his high appearance rate for us as his versatility put him atop of Dyche's selection list when he had to make tactical changes. Had he been a one trick pony player for us playing only central mid role, how many appearance would he still have earned? When playing multiple positions you become versatile. As mentioned above, he wasn't the most skilful player to put on a claret and blue shirt but I'd rather have him inside the club than out.
Will he do well at another PL club remains to be seen. Depends on where he plays and who he competing against for that place.
Wish him all the luck anyway. If it gives us chance to breed through some more youngsters its a bonus.

I get that they've always had more lofty ambitions than being a mid-table side, but during Ashley's ownership they've only spent 2 seasons outside of the PL.
That's not bad when you see the claims that he's steering them towards an iceberg.
Part of me would be interested to see how they'd behave if they did a Bolton and fell into league 2..

I can just imagine the abuse from the stands up there if he doesn't start well.
He might of got a few 'oh pass to a bloody claret shirt for once Jeff' or 'pass it forward negative Jeff' from our stands but overall we were very supportive of a mediocre player.
They won't hold back on the Toon.

Brownhill is a better player. He has much better technical ability that has been clear to see in his few games.
Hendrick had no strengths apart from his fitness.
Brownhill looks to be a premier league quality centre midfielder. Unfortunately you can’t say that about Hendrick at all.
He is definite upgrade on Hendrick not sure how anyone can say different.

He played in a more advanced central role for most of his time here and then moved around to fill in.
I suspect if he'd sat in CM he would've been fine.
For someone who's not been first choice for some time he's done well to knock out 24 league appearances this last season and 30 plus in each of the previous 3 seasons.

Pretty sure it was when Jeff was still here and doing a solid job on the right wing.
Lennon was also still here.
Pieters has been playing on the left wing, we've had numerous players over the years play out of their normal position, I recall Barnes and Jay both playing more out on the flanks.
Let's not forget Arfield either.

Played a lot of games for us. Only not featuring in 18 PL games when not here. You can claim that's all down to injuries to other players. But the above is the facts. I would rather we had him here.
