Andre Schurrle

Post by huw.Y.WattfromWare » Fri Jul 17, 2020 3:15 pm

Scorer of one of the best goals ever seen ont’Turf has announced his retirement at 29.
Shame, he was a good un but has appeared disinterested for a couple of years now.

Scored 2 of the best goals ever seen on Turf
The first one was Chelsea’s second in our opening 3-1 game defeat a few years ago....Fabregas pass was world class.

He's obviously made enough money then.

Good luck to him.

Good player on his day.
Was surprised to see him rock up at Fulham.

Good luck to him post football.

I think the Fulham fans were disappointed to see him rock up at Fulham

Schurrle scored in quite possibly the most devastating half hours play I've ever witnessed from an opposition team at TM.

I agree about the Chelsea game and Fabregas. I thought it was going to be ten. But we scored first and Juke had a decent game!

Strange one with schurle. His retirement probably explains it. Very good player who just never seemed up for it.

Is that ‘30 mins’ because Citeh have normally put 5 past us in 15 mins?

World Cup winner, scored 2 in the 7-1 win v Brazil.
He's quite probably been sensible with his earnings and can take the option of retiring and preserving his well-being (re injuries).

Fabregas seemed to be a 10 out of 10 every time he played at Turf Moor.

Chelsea were brilliant that night. All season in fact. What ever anyone thinks of Jose his first and that Chelsea side were brilliant.

The thing that struck me when we played Chelsea was just how physically more imposing they were.

I knew they were incredible players. But looking at Ivanoic. Terry. Matic. Costa. And co. It’s like they were a different species.

It amazes me that the vast majority of us saw it in exactly the same way. I recognise so many of the comments from that night.

It was scary for a while. Matic was the one that I thought was the most physically imposing. The angles they created were a thing of beauty.

Said it before and I will say it again. Easily the best (most influential) player I have ever seen play against us and on more than one occasion.

Best goal on the Turf ? Possibly Billy Ingham's v Chelsea.

That Chelsea game in 2014 was the only time that the camera locations in the middle of the stands have ever been used. They were trying different angles with our ground and I personally felt it made the ground look better. It was different, but they never used it again. It was a super angle of Arfield’s goal that night.

Strange you say that. I remember watching the game back and thinking the turf looked different. Never knew why.

What struck me about that game is how wide Chelsea made the pitch. They had someone on each touchline when in possession. You see it quite often now against the top sides but at the time it seemed like a different level.

Loved it when Dwight sat him on his ass when we played Fulham. Brilliant! World Cup winner sat on his ass at Turf Moor by a youngster.

I remember in the game we drew 1-1 with Arsenal, had he not gone off injured we would have lost by 4 or 5 such was his control of the game, top player indeed

That’s us as a top side then. We play our FBs so narrow every week the opposition keep their widemen chalk on heels. We get away with it though so fair play to SD.

Yes same for me too.

I think what’s happened is that’s still the case. We have just progressed massively. And become more streetwise. Which we always lacked.

Seems to be a pattern with German players in recent seasons just not putting the effort in, poor attitude or looking disinterested. Schurrle, Ozil, Mane, Meyer.
