Was absolutely outstanding. The best opening ceremony of any sporting event ever.

It was a good opening ceremony, an enjoyable evening. But it was the only opening ceremony I’ve ever seen.

For some strange reason I watched that in the Prinny Royal, I remember thinking I’d buy the DVD as soon as it came out but still haven’t watched it back. Might have a look for it now, one of the most enjoyable events I’ve watched was London 2012, I literally watched any event I could that summer

Represented EVERYTHING I am very proud about relating to our country, much of which still is applicable. But feel very different now. How can things change so much in just 8 years?

It was excellent and the Olympics generally was exceptional and a massive achievement for the UK in all sorts of ways.

Was a great 2 weeks. Had it on every night when I got back from work. Seem to recall lots of scepticism in the build up to it, lots of people saying they couldn't care less etc.

We were camping at Ravenglass and watched that magical hour via BBC iPlayer on my phone - thankfully able to connect to a WiFi signal
