Can we cheat a little
Can we cheat a little
Would it count for Pope to play v Brighton for say ten minutes keep a clean sheet and then sub him, that way he would win the golden glove or does he have to play the full game.

No need.
Pope could play from dawn till dusk against that shower without conceding atm.

Don't think that would work and we'd look pretty pathetic for doing it anyway.

If City concede in their next game then he's guaranteed it anyway.

If he has already won it by then, maybe BPF should get a game or at least some of it. Perfect chance to blood him with 5 subs allowed.

Unfortunately I don’t think he’ll win it
City’s remaining 2 games are Watford & Norwich so Ederson isnt facing the most prolific strike forces

Norwich always seem to carve out a decent chance or two. We would have conceded at least one yesterday without superb goalkeeping from Pope.
Re: Can we cheat a little
How is the award decided when two keepers are level?
Is it then down to number of games played?

Re: Can we cheat a little
They’ve scored 2 since the restart and had only scored 4 since January before then.PremierLeagueClass wrote: ↑Sun Jul 19, 2020 10:02 amNorwich always seem to carve out a decent chance or two. We would have conceded at least one yesterday without superb goalkeeping from Pope.
They may create them but they can’t finish them
Re: Can we cheat a little
Don't be surprised if they decide to change the rules and have it that a keeper has to play a minimum of for example 30 games and then award the glove on the percentage of clean sheets thus replacing Nick by I suspect Ederson.
We cannot have a Burnley player being rewarded can we? No one like us

Re: Can we cheat a little
Pope is 1 clean sheet ahead with 1 game to go if he keeps a clean sheet v Brighton he wins (joint top) with the city keeper who have two games to play, even if he keeps both clean sheets, if not then Pope wins it outright.
Unless the ref gives a dodgy 95 min pen to stop us if that happens Dyche needs to sub Pope before the pen lol

Re: Can we cheat a little
Doubt it would work as when Pope made his PL debut replacing Heaton against Palace he wasn't credited with a clean sheet because he hadn't played 90 minutes.
Anything to stop Nick Pope being subbed after a minute?
So he at least shares the Golden Glove award?

No chance Dyche would do something as cringe as that.

Managers do this when trophies / championships have already been won.
This is different. If Pope is to win the Golden Gloves he will have to do so on merit and that is what is right.
Imagine how we'd feel if Ederson gets subbed on the first minute but Man City concede a world class unstoppable screamer and Pope does so also.

Pretty sure Nick will want to play the full game.

Duplicate thread. Previous thread it was pointed out he kept a clean sheet after replacing Tom Heaton but it didn’t go on his record.

Re: Anything to stop Nick Pope being subbed after a minute?
It is different though.
Playing most the game without our best keeper with a lot of (now very much needed) money up for grabs?
That's without undermining the integrity our manager has been instilling during his tenure.
Maybe when we're 5-0 up after 15 minutes, I'd run with it.

Re: Anything to stop Nick Pope being subbed after a minute?
Neither Dyche or Pope would want to do that.
Pope is our first choice keeper, we will be going out there for a win and he's one of our best chances to get that.
We already know he's been the best English keeper this season, a golden glove would just be the icing on the cake to confirm it but not worth sacrificing integrity over.

I see klopp brought Curtis Jones on so he got his winners medal Chelsea. I think a min 5 appearances (start or sub) is ridiculous. Should be min 15 starts for a medal

It's a strange one. I think some weirdos will have it down as a disappointing season if he doesn't win it now. Honestly didn't even know it was a thing until a couple of weeks ago.
About as relevant to anything as who's taken the most throw ins this season.

Re: Anything to stop Nick Pope being subbed after a minute?
It’s an award for the best keeper, who’ll win it because he has the best defence if front of him with the whole team contributing. We don’t win much, it’s not a flat playing field after all. So this is something we could win which would be a great celebration of how well we’ve played this season. Let’s face it we’re lucky to get on MOTD. This level of recognition would be terrificNottsClaret wrote: ↑Fri Jul 24, 2020 5:05 pmIt's a strange one. I think some weirdos will have it down as a disappointing season if he doesn't win it now. It certainly won’t affect my view of how well we have done this season, but what a great award for Pope to win. I’d love him to win it.

Re: Can we cheat a little
A real golden glove would be quite heavy. And difficult to put on, I should imagine.
