Golden Glove
Am I right in thinking there’s no tie breaker for this award? So if Pope keeps a clean sheet in the Brighton game he’s guaranteed to at least win the award joint with Ederson?

That’s the way they do the golden boot - three players win it last seasonPremierLeagueClass wrote: ↑Sun Jul 19, 2020 1:28 pmAm I right in thinking there’s no tie breaker for this award? So if Pope keeps a clean sheet in the Brighton game he’s guaranteed to at least win the award joint with Ederson?

Re: Golden Glove
It's hard to imagine Norwich scoring at Man City next weekend, so Pope will need a clean sheet.

If he does it that’s got to be one of the highest individual honours ever won by a Burnley player?

Re: Golden Glove
How long has the golden glove been a thing?
Edit: just wiki’ed it - it started in 2004/05
If he wins, Pope will be alongside world class goalkeepers playing for the best clubs. Quite an achievement.

Nick Pope is playing for one of the Covid 19 top 6 sides
Only 3 teams have taken more points than us

Re: Golden Glove
Probably none. He predated Moore and Walter Winterbottom liked him ad his clever coach, even though he was player.Gordaleman wrote: ↑Sun Jul 19, 2020 5:07 pmJimmy was exceptional though and Burnley were at their peak. I wonder how many England caps he would have got if it hadn't been for Bobby Moore?

Re: Golden Glove
Just as a follow up to the previous poster: Adamson was 33 in 1962 when he was appointed as assistant coach to Winterbottom. At this point Adamson had 0 international caps and Bobby Moore just the one, so there was really no overlap. If Adamson was going to win England caps he would have got them long before Bobby Moore came on the scene.Gordaleman wrote: ↑Sun Jul 19, 2020 7:05 pmI'm pretty sure he would have got some if Moore hadn't turned up when he did. Anyway, he was still a great player, playing alongside Jimmy Mac.
His only International honour was 10 years earlier and that was the one appearance for England "B"
Re: Golden Glove
Team picked by committee in those days, I think.

So who am I thinking about if as you say, it wasn't Moore? Whoever it was must have been very good.nil_desperandum wrote: ↑Sun Jul 19, 2020 7:26 pmJust as a follow up to the previous poster: Adamson was 33 in 1962 when he was appointed as assistant coach to Winterbottom. Joe Hart won it the most times - 4 - and is the only English keeper to win it so far
