Bournemouth v Saints
0-1 Ings again
Given his pro debut by Howe apparently

Re: Bournemouth v Saints
If I had a wish list of current ex-players to return to us Danny Ings would be first, closely followed by Kieran Trippier.

Ings just fluffed a pen, could be the lifeline Bournemouth need.

Front two of Bournemouth don't look remotely interested

End of the road if they lose this surely.

Still 1-0 to Southampton - well offside. Bad miss by assistant ref.

Re: Bournemouth v Saints
Bit of a blow to their morale but they’ll probably still go into the last game with a win being enough.

Sickener for them but they were 7th after 11 games and have won 4 out of 26 since. Definitely one of the three worst sides,

Re: Bournemouth v Saints
Goal difference now meaning that Watford will need to lose one of their games by more than a goal to put it in Bournemouth’s hands, so to speak. Very likely with Man City and Arsenal as the next two opponents though.

Re: Bournemouth v Saints
I can't see them getting a win at Everton, that's them gone for me
Re: Bournemouth v Saints
Oh dear oh dear. It is a truism that when you are down you really are, as poor form plus lady luck deserts you. Poor Norwich yesterday, lose 2 players and then score an OG.
There is now a 5 goal deficit compared with Watford and now in 19th place

And they'd likely need a decent sized win too. Like 3-0.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sun Jul 19, 2020 3:58 pmI can't see them getting a win at Everton, that's them gone for me

Poor Eddie and Jase.
Re: Bournemouth v Saints
Villa may have a better shout with a win at WHU last day should Watford lose their two games by 4 goals as Villa would stay up with same GD having scored more goals than Watford if there is only a goal difference in Villa's favour at the Hammers

Re: Bournemouth v Saints
Only a 4 goal deficit which means that two Watford defeats and a Bournemouth win would mean survival for Bournemouth provided that either City or Arsenal win by more than a 1 goal margin, or Bournemouth do. Tough game for Bournemouth but I think a win will keep them up. Cup final.
Re: Bournemouth v Saints
1-0 win could do it. But I think they are down.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Sun Jul 19, 2020 4:00 pmAnd they'd likely need a decent sized win too. Like 3-0.

Re: Bournemouth v Saints
As above, if Watford lose both games then a 2-0 win against Everton would guarantee safety.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Sun Jul 19, 2020 4:00 pmAnd they'd likely need a decent sized win too. Like 3-0.

Re: Bournemouth v Saints
not sure, I think Man City will destroy Watford after losing yesterday, they need a reaction and a big win to get them ready for MadridFactualFrank wrote: ↑Sun Jul 19, 2020 4:00 pmAnd they'd likely need a decent sized win too. Like 3-0.

Re: Bournemouth v Saints
Possibly depends how much of a hit Watford's GD takes in the City & Arsenal games, but you get the feeling the gods aren't with Bournemouth this season.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Sun Jul 19, 2020 4:00 pmAnd they'd likely need a decent sized win too. Like 3-0.

Re: Bournemouth v Saints
And that's the trouble with VAR as it is right now... Assistants don't really need to do anything anymore, the game is managed from a studio now. Offsides can't be missed, handballs cant be missed, no requirement for anyone to make a call, no requirement for anyone to remain focussed....it's far too clinical for me. I thought it would help clubs like ours in getting a fair deal when playing the big boys, but i'm not convinced it works like that. Yes, I'm a cynic.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Jul 19, 2020 3:53 pmStill 1-0 to Southampton - well offside. Bad miss by assistant ref.
It could be really good, if people who have been involved in the game for years get involved and sort it out, but i cant see that happening. A five minute look at Rugby and Cricket would bring it a damn sight closer to where it needs to be.
How long will we have assistant refs for now do we think?
Re: Bournemouth v Saints
But in cricket there are no decisions that are opinion based. It's completely different, likewise with rugby.
In cricket you are either out or not. How can you decide whether it's handball or not for example, such as the penalty against Wolves?

Re: Bournemouth v Saints
Maybe cricket wasnt a good example really, other than the limited use during the game. The umpire makes the decision and unless reviewed that’s it. I’m not saying we should have the same review procedure in football, just that if there’s nothing to see, leave it be. Seems to me every goal is scrutinised by a panel who are looking for a reason to disallow it.
Maybe they should just manage it better like it is in rugby. Let “clear and obvious error” mean just that and get on with it as it is if it’s neither.
