Lancashire Live and Vydra
Lancashire Live's view of Vydra.
Matej Vydra got 12 minutes off the bench against the Canaries and his chances of a run of starts once again seem remote.
That week in February where he inspired victory at Southampton and starred against Bournemouth seems a while ago.
But the frontman still has plenty to offer and he showed that off the bench at Carrow Road. He offers a different threat, is able to run in behind and has a skill set unique in the Clarets frontline.
He’s showed he has a role to play for Burnley going forward.
But, while he might not want it, Vydra could fashion himself an impact sub niche. The question is how much of a chance we will he be given by the manager to impact a game.
There must be defences in the PL that could be exploited by Vydra's pace. I think Norwich's was one of them and he ran them ragged when he came on 12 minutes from the end. Surely he would have had at least a couple of goals, or assists had he started? Maybe that would be a way of getting the most out of him, instead of just relying on Wood and set pieces. He's certainly exciting to watch and he works well in tandem with Jay.

Good question, but if as expected, we have five subs next season. there will be plenty of chance for all four strikers to contribute.
Personally, I hope it doesn't happen.

Heaven help us - are we really giving that rag the spotlight with a thread title?

Re: Lancashire Live and Vydra
I've recently just learned that one of the chaps (the one that sounds like he has a golf ball lodged in the back of his throat) who is at the pre match press conferences, is from that Lancashire Live.
Dyche has disliked him for ages, been right off with him in the past.

I've never heard of said literature provider but they are spot on about Vydra

Nothing wrong with it, good coverage of burnley from a local journalistClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Jul 19, 2020 10:42 pmHeaven help us - are we really giving that rag the spotlight with a thread title?
Why do you dislike it so much
Far better coverage than other local papers

Anyone watched the Brighton pre match conference?
It's all there, proper off with (Alex James?) him at the start.
Something's gone on at sometime.

Re: Lancashire Live and Vydra
Lancs Live are often more specualative with their stories re transfers etc for hits, whereas journos like Boden are (understandably) more cautious in their reporting, so Dyche will trust them more. I doubt it's anything more than that.

As we know Dyche doesn't do internet reading, so it must be more Bentley's influence.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Sat Jul 25, 2020 12:11 amLancs Live are often more specualative with their stories re transfers etc for hits, whereas journos like Boden are (understandably) more cautious in their reporting, so Dyche will trust them more. He doesn't but he strikes me as somebody who'll want to be kept informed as to what reporters are saying, by DB and others. SD's media savvy has been evident from day one and a big emphasis will be on who to trust.Bin Ont Turf wrote: ↑Sat Jul 25, 2020 12:18 amAs we know Dyche doesn't do internet reading, so it must be more Bentley's influence.

Re: Lancashire Live and Vydra
No doubt you are correct in what you've said, but I just find it a little disrespectful in the way Dyche answers him, for someone who has old school values of respect.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Sat Jul 25, 2020 12:24 amHe doesn't but he strikes me as somebody who'll want to be kept informed as to what reporters are saying, by DB and others. It's been going on for ages, it's not like the guy from Lancs Live asks out of left field awful questions (even though he has an awful voice).
Dyche's manner changes when he asks a question and it's noticeable, and a little cringey.
Re: Lancashire Live and Vydra
He certainly gave him short shrift. Who are Lancs Live affiliated to?Bin Ont Turf wrote: ↑Fri Jul 24, 2020 11:59 pmAnyone watched the Brighton pre match conference?

Re: Lancashire Live and Vydra
Boden and his Mrs are so far up Bentleys backside they only tell what the club want them to. Mr Boden is under threat of losing his cosy one to one telephone chats with dyche should he ever go off pisteBin Ont Turf wrote: ↑Sat Jul 25, 2020 12:18 amAs we know Dyche doesn't do internet reading, so it must be more Bentley's influence.
I've no problem with lancs live, they always have the post match reaction from the managers before anyone else.
Despite asking several times, those that hate it so much have failed to say why they do. To me it's a good source of all things BFC.
Re: Lancashire Live and Vydra
Vydra could start today. Brighton generally play three big donkeys at the back, who are good at clearing crosses, but no so great turning on the deck.
Re: Lancashire Live and Vydra
He probably could start today, but he'd have nobody to pass to

Bollocjs. I thought there was football today.
At least there'd be an excuse for Wood being offside.

Re: Lancashire Live and Vydra
Seems to me Lamcashire lives view of Vydra is absolutely spot on, so the short shrift they get here must be for some other reason.
Sure they may have reported things wrongly in the past, but there’s nowt wrong with what they have said in that article.

Dyche definitely doesn't like this Alex James fella, his all tone shifts when he starts asking questions.

Re: Lancashire Live and Vydra
Agree about Vyd being on against Brighton.
They aren't the quickest at the back.
I'd personally like to see him start.

Unless I've missed it, they are the only outlet reporting what's happening with the under 21 Cup next season.

Re: Lancashire Live and Vydra
As said, no info on it from the league, no invites gone out, so no decision made. All that's happened is that the club, through Jon Pepper, revealed that it might not be immediate that we enter. That was said on the day we announced we'd got Cat 1.

Re: Lancashire Live and Vydra
It was referenced by the club and they've picked up on it again. There is nothing to report in any case.
The publication is from a company called Reach who own a lot of local newspapers that they have completely ruined, such as the Birmingham Mail, Nottingham Mail, Chronicle (Newcastle), Huddersfield Examiner, Sentinel (Stoke), Hull Daily Mail. These were good quality but they've been taken down the click bait route by Reach, regurgitating the same story time and again with different headlines to get them on the news feeds. It's a sad state of affairs but it is all about clicks on a website, nothing more, nothing less.
Re: Lancashire Live and Vydra
I don't know anything about reach, but to be honest all local papers have gone downhill, including the local ones in Lancashire.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Jul 25, 2020 11:54 amIt was referenced by the club and they've picked up on it again. There is nothing to report in any case.

I don't know what the official definition of click bait is, but to me it's either a misleading headline that makes you click on it, and it's not what you were expecting, or something that takes you to a site that requires payment.
I only read things on lancs live that are linked from twitter, I've always found them to be as described, and the match day coverage is normally very good and up to date, I don't know about other subjects covered on the site, but the BFC related articles, in my opinion are very good, and a little different from the club driven stories in the burnley express..... As for the telegraph, no comment required.
Re: Lancashire Live and Vydra
No issue with Lancs Live either. Just watched the interview and thought Dyche was in good spirits with the reporter in this particular instance using his ‘Dyche Bants’ (I hate using that word!) I have noticed a change in tone with him previously though.
