Media Darlings Sheffield United
If we better their result on Sunday we'll finish above them
Theyre away at Soton

They’ve had a great season. I’m pleased to see the media giving credit to one of the lesser clubs, in the Premier League.

Don’t understand why Burnley fans get upset about the perception of other over achievers.
They’ve had an incredible season, we failed to beat them twice.
The more sides like them (AND us) in this league the better for me.

Don't think Hendersons loan would have been cheap either.
They've had a great season though and, played some good footy with it.

It’s what our 4/5th year in the PL (lost count). We most likely won’t match our best finish. Yet people still take it as somehow the media are against us because they’re praising a newly promoted team on a great season.
Absolute morons.

Fair play to them. FWIW £20m of that was after they were already safe at the end of January.

They deserve all the plaudits they’re getting. Developed their own style, new to the division, and have worked their socks off to get the results they’ve had. Fair play to them. I’ll be interested to see if they can replicate.

Re: Media Darlings Sheffield United
Why some people are being so churlish about them beats me, they've had a great campaign by anyone's standards, and they deserve all the plaudits they've received. The bigger question is will they be able to repeat the feat, there's been plenty of one-season wonders in the PL, and they rapidly fall away the following season, Ipswich come instantly to mind finished 5th in their 2000-2001 campaign, but they were relegated the next season, i don't think that'll happen to Sheff Utd, but it's always hard to follow up a good season, look at Burnley for example finished 7th, and the next season we were in the bottom 3 at Xmas, West Brom finished 8th the season before they dropped down.
The key for them is keeping Chris Wilder, as long as he remains they'll likely be fine, just like us with SD.

Most if the team promoted, played the season.
Earned their place.

Re: Media Darlings Sheffield United
I like Sheff U, proper team this season, good on em'. I like Wolves too, they may have spent quite a bit but a manager and its team still have to go out there and get results, hope they win the Europa. We're slap bang in the middle of some quality sides and have forged our own identity over time, it's quite a remarkable achievement and I still pinch myself at where we are. I'm very happy to have peers such as Sheff Utd and Wolves alongside us, long may it continue.

Re: Media Darlings Sheffield United
No one likes us we dont care
And there are media darlings out there in football
Sheff Utd have done well although we never turned up away and poor marking gave away a soft goal at home
The problem as I see it is the stories the media perpetuates
Sean is leaving.Villa are a decent team.Eddie Howe is a good manager.West Ham have good honest owners and we are all glad to see Dirty Leeds back where they "belong' all complete bxxxxxxs and untrue

Re: Media Darlings Sheffield United
Considering they were odds-on favourites of the three promoted teams to go straight back down pre-season. They deserve some of the limelight.

I'm pleased for them. I'd rather they finished 2 places below us but they were owed a top 10 finish given that they were cheated out of their Premier league place last time out.

We were media darlings for a short while. One must remember the media don't strive for accuracy, truth, or fairness. The beauty of sport isn't enough for them. They want drama, controversy, a backstory.
As for Sheff Utd, I think they have been brilliant this season.

Re: Media Darlings Sheffield United
I thought there was meant to be a southern media bias.
Or is it a southern media bias except if it’s Leeds, Sheffield, er, Liverpool and well I suppose we’ll have to throw Newcastle in as well. In fact there seems to be a bias in favour of anyone but us.

Not a fan of Wolves, never have been. Strange transfer dealings to get up as well.
Enjoyed the trip, not the result, when we went to Sheffield so happy to go again.

Pundits will no doubt make us favourites for relegation....again!
Sheffield have had great season but I hope we end up one position higher.

Dyckhead, ohhh your hard, fat lad.
I realise your a precious little type.
It gets boring reading this crap on what seems like every other football related thread that the media “hate us”. They don’t at all. There must be 3 or 4 fantastic articles posted onto this forum every week praising us as a club and also praising our players. Pundits on the tv also praise us and what we’ve achieved since our return to the PL. Most seem to ignore it and concentrate on others teams getting plaudits and get a bit jealous in some weird, pathetic, juvenile way.

Re: Media Darlings Sheffield United
Are you two having a tiff?
Re: Media Darlings Sheffield United
I love the way they’ve played and I think Chris Wilder has done a great job but he is dangerously close to losing the plot. His rant on his players the other day was a little overboard IMO. It’s one thing to light a fire under them but that felt oddly personal.
All that said, I am happy to see SD getting the publicity he deserves for what he’s done with our club this year. I know it’s been beaten to death but my biggest hope is he gets some real money to spend this Summer to improve the squad because he deserves it.

I agree, I read their fans comments on it and most loved it because he’s Sheff Utd through and through.Kreuzberg wrote: ↑Wed Jul 22, 2020 5:11 amI love the way they’ve played and I think Chris Wilder has done a great job but he is dangerously close to losing the plot. Perhaps we are just a bit soft, I can just imagine the modern day player won’t like that despite what they say on camera. Once they go on a really bad run, which they will at some point, he will need to pick them up rather than kick them like he did in that interview after 1 loss to a top 5 team.

As above. He can get away with it to an extent. He's a lifelong Blade. He was even a ball boy. His connection with the club is real and he feels every defeat or poor performance as a fan would. There will come a time when that won't wash with fans if results start to go pear shaped and he needs to balance his emotions and professionalism a bit more.
