Our friend Nixon suggesting Southampton are in for Matty Cash
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
That's us out then. Time to move on and prioritise the 3 positions we really need to fill. CB, midfield and right wing.Hedontplayforyou wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2020 10:01 amOur friend Nixon suggesting Southampton are in for Matty Cash

Has anyone noticed-whenever we are linked with a player other interested parties tend to be Southampton, West Ham or Brighton
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
It's been stated we dont prioritise positions, we buy players we are interested in when or if they become available.
So if Matty Cash is available we will apparently be buying him for 20m apparently, according to people more in the know than me.
Hopefully he will be the next Trippier

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
If Cash is as good as people make out and can get forward then he is the only player I think we need at the minute.
Unless we're spending serious cash to be instant first teamers and put the likes of Mee and Cork on the bench?
You see JBG and Brownhill will be fine on the right if a full back can go past him outside. If not a right footed winger is a must.

Well they seem to be in a similar position to us table wise most seasons anywhere from 10-17th with the odd flirt and panic regards relegation, to top half finish with talks of Europe.
Maybe they see us as a good example to follow, recognise how well we spot players and their attitudes, see who we are after, and then just gazump us on fee and or wages.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I think West Ham are generally linked with everyone including the tea ladies. Proper scatter gun approach to signing's.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2020 10:23 amHas anyone noticed-whenever we are linked with a player other interested parties tend to be Southampton, West Ham or Brighton
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
We need more than a right sided player. Back up / up and coming centre half is a must with Gibson gone.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2020 10:29 amIf Cash is as good as people make out and can get forward then he is the only player I think we need at the minute.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I'm quite happy with Long and Dunne as back up. We don't rotate enough to spend money on players who more than likely won't get a do.
I would much prefer to spend all available money strengthening the first team and let the players replaced become the squad fillers.
Hopefully the academey is closer to providing squad players with every year it progresses.

If Saints have Harrison Reed why would they want a similar player in Cash age ,style and ability wise.
I'd be happy if we get either of them

Back to Middlesbrough.
Although he remains under contract with us - he is not training with us, nor will he likely ever play for us.
Therefore - 'gone'

Well I think we all know he won’t be back, even if he’s not contractually gone anywhere as yet.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
For those that say we only really need one player who can play on the right in defense I admire their immense optimism.Let me remind you that we had no more than two players o the bench with any PL minutes behind them, for the bulk of the last 9 games. Its probably a record in the history of the PL I know we had 4 injuries, but this is not typically unusual in the PL. Look at Bournemouth, Villa. For those that think we have ample CH back-up, Dunne was sent back by both Sunderland and Fleetwood(and Joey would have known him well).Long is a great 4th choice behind Tarks and Mee. If Kevin was to play more than half a dozen games in the PL he will get exposed-for those that say he played well when deputising for Ben, it was no surprise he got exposed v Brighton. If he was that good he would have been prised away in his 10 year plus stay with us. We also need competition for Cork,Westwood and Brownhill. The last two knew in that post lockdown run of games that however poorly they played they would start the next game. The Gibson saga needs to be resolved promptly, as it would appear he is one of our top earners. There's lots to be done in the next 4 weeks

Do players still do that ?
Either way I think it’s safe to say he is available for transfer !
From Gibson’s point of view though he is not going to just walk away from a couple a million or so a year in wages we owe him.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Probably because he is getting paid well by us and boro won't pay him that amount.
Unless he has a team to go to, there is no benefit to putting a request in. Its a shame that he spat his dummy out as I think he would have had a good opportunity to play.
He came in as our record signing I believe so you can imagine that at most other clubs, you would be seen as a starting player but our records are being broken because they are not that high so this isn't necessarily the same with us. In fact I am pretty sure that people know that Sean has his players that he trusts and favours - you have to earn the right to play and take your chances when they come up.
Vydra is an example of this - although he is still seen as 4th choice - again someone we paid more for than the people ahead of him with the exception of wood.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I’ve no idea but I’d hazard a guess that it’s probably not needed. I think both parties know that his departure would be for the best, all round.
Transfer requests are usually by players that want to leave, but the club wants them to stay. I don’t think that’s the case here.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
If we have a big budget and playing football manager then yes I would bring a Centre midfielder in.
Realistically we have Cork and Westwood with Brownhill covering both centre and right.
Then we have McNeil who played really well in a 3 at Palace.
So unless we are bringing 3 or more players in it's not a priority.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
How much would you give out of the budget to sign a back up defender who is likely to get between 0-5 games a season?FactualFrank wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2020 12:29 pmI think he's picking up on the fact that you are happy with Long and Dunne as backup. I wouldn't be happy with that at all.
15m didn't get us a player who could play regular?
With finances unpredictable the wage bill needed to come down so a high wage free signing isn't even ideal.
Maybe sell Long or Dunne and use that money but it's not an area of concern.

Part of it has to be thinking to the future as well as planning for a long season ahead. If we got injuries to Mee and Tarkowski, would you be happy to risk having Long and Dunne in for a prolonged spell?Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2020 12:45 pmHow much would you give out of the budget to sign a back up defender who is likely to get between 0-5 games a season?

You have to treat a squad in the PL a bit like insurance. Not being prepared to have a good CH as back up is like saying I have not had an accident in my car for a few years now, so I will go third party rather than fully comp

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Normally I would be in favour of spend, spend, spend, like any fan. Improve every position we have.
But unless we sell one of the stars, i don't think we have the finances.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I’m not advocating a wild approach to spending. Every so often though, we need to spend a little more to improve the squad (perhaps more one year, less the next).Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2020 12:55 pmNormally I would be in favour of spend, spend, spend, like any fan. We’ve had a few years of limited spending and eventually that will catch up with us, which I think is why Dyche wants us to stretch that bit further, this time.
That doesn’t mean that next year we have to do the same as hopefully some of the signings will be with us for a number of season, if we target players of the right age and quality.
The figures being quoted so far are interesting. On face value, there doesn’t appear to have been a drop in the transfer values, despite all of the claims that they would do, due to COVID-19.
Perhaps it’s early days though and prices will fall as clubs become a little more desperate.

Some short term ism on here. It is pretty clear that Tarks will be gone soon. He is rapidly outgrowing us. Would not be surprised if Chelsea want him as well as Pope. In any event, we need a young rs cb now to groom as his replacement. Just like we did when we signed him.

There was a discussion on here several months ago. Some posters actually said the Gibson transfer was a waste of money because Mee and Tarks didn't get injured. And they were serious!
