No, he was offered the same money at first and then an improved contract just before the 23rd June deadline.

Tottenham and Southampton have agreed deals for Hojbjerg and Walker-Peters.
This should rule Southampton out of any race which may be going on to sign Matty Cash

That won't affect us, we aren't after Cash unless it's the £ type.Hedontplayforyou wrote: ↑Wed Aug 05, 2020 8:35 amTottenham and Southampton have agreed deals for Hojbjerg and Walker-Peters.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
The same journo who first linked us with Matty Cash is now saying we're after Deeney (kind of believable with the Dyche link, but would be a waste of money) and Gerard Deulofea.
Think he's just throwing names out there in the hope that one sticks. Would imagine Deulofea in particular is one of Watford's top earners so will end up at West Ham/Palace type club if he's going anywhere.

Always liked Deulofeu. Doubt there's anything in that one. Problem with him for all his bag of tricks, his final ball is wanting most of the time.FeedTheArf wrote: ↑Thu Aug 06, 2020 5:04 pmThe same journo who first linked us with Matty Cash is now saying we're after Deeney (kind of believable with the Dyche link, but would be a waste of money) and Gerard Deulofea.

Still think Deeney could happen *shudder*.

He also said it would be a loan deal for deulofeu which makes it even less believable
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Hard to see how Delofeu would fit in under Dyche. I may be wrong but he's always come across as a bit of a fancy Dan who plays when he feels like it. The Deeney link is a bit more realistic unfortunately.

I'd be delighted if we got Deulofeu and Deeney
Deeney is a winner who hates losing and a good leader
Deulofeu is a crowd pleaser who can beat a man and produces good assists

I’ve been monitoring his tweets for a week or so and I have checked on the accounts that he follows on twitter, mainly sporting accounts I.e. reporters from newspapers and such.
With the amount of times he tweets during the day I do wonder how he has time to wipe his own ass, bringing me to the assumption that he just takes info from other outlets and pedals it as his own, then when one eventually hits he then pins that tweet as some sort of medal....I may be totally wrong of course but that hasn’t happened since 2015.

It was clearly BS. As someone else said, an “ex journalist” of 25 years without a single report online and a grand total of 600 followers. Probably a 14 year old bored in the holidays

Not a rumour from a paper but I have heard from three separate Newcastle fans today that Matty Longstaff is on his way to Burnley. Free agent that was on just under 1k a week.
don’t know if there’s any truth to this but I would be relatively happy. Cheap signing with potential.

Said something along the lines of, the powers that be at Turf Moor ( Garlick ) have been playing hardball regards new contracts, and haggling over a few hundred pounds when it comes to Max Thompsons new contract...

Deulofea would be an incredible signing - but type of player Dyche would not go for unfortunately.
Deeney a big no thanks but would not rule him out as good mates with Dyche - shudder

Regarding Deulofeu, most of my wife’s cousins are Everton fans and some are season ticket holders - and they’ve always said he has one good game in 4. So as someone said above, a player who’s great when he can be bothered and sometimes grabs headlines - but more usually doesn’t put a shift in and goes missing.
No thanks. Next.

Yeah Longstaff would be a cracking signing if possible.
Deulofeu doesn't seem to fit the Dyche profile but is a big talent, if Dyche thinks it works then it'd be very exciting.
Deeney's past his best but he can play and Dyche is really keen on him. If we bring him in on a shortish deal to keep Dyche happy and he comes off the bench with Barnes to wind up defenders I'd happily watch it!

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I'm struggling to see why anyone would be against signing Deulofeu. He's obviously inconsistent but in terms of ability is far better than anyone else we currently have. Players capable of being match winners at PL level are very few and far between.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Steve Bruce reckons they made him an "unbelievably good offer" so I wouldn't expect him to be that cheap and with him only being 20 surely they'd be due a reasonable amount of compensation.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 06, 2020 10:47 pmNot a rumour from a paper but I have heard from three separate Newcastle fans today that Matty Longstaff is on his way to Burnley. He's made just 6 premier league appearances in his career unlike his brother Sean who's had 32 starts for Newcastle in the last two seasons.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Not against signing him. His end product is a bit hit and miss. Clearly talented and would give us attacking options. At the right price and wage. He'd be worth a punt. They'd be looking to at least recoup what they paid, which was reported around £12 million. If not make a profit on him.

In Pope, Tarks and Wood we have individual players who have won us far more games than he has for Watford last season. Jay Rod probably won more games for us than he did...especially since Watford won a lot less games than us and he was injured so much.
And I would not be in a least bit surprised that he is on double the money of any of our team.

For those of you on Twitter - RUMOUR coming up that we plan to replace Gibson with Ben Davies of Preston. But we will hold out for around £12m for Gibson .
Added that Gibson’s preference is to stay at Boro - this should confirm the account is genuinely nonsense.

15:03 Twitter he has posted almost identical.

Just reflecting on the Pope to Chelsea rumour.
Chelsea linked with Declan Rice but looking to raise £65M in player sales top finance it.
Given that they've clearly lost faith with Kepa, does this mean they have the goalkeeper (Pope) fee set aside and a sale has been agreed. I can't believe their need to signa goalkeeper is just rumour. In their position I really would go for Jan Oblek.

Chelsea want poor little Burnley’s Pope - Chelsea will buy him for £50m pocket change. Chelsea want a West Ham player - add £15m to the price and say they need to sell players first.
I’d be surprised if they are seriously interested in either.
