Does anyone remember McParland (may have the wrong name) but worked at Brentford in the Recruitment team with Mark Warburton. Seem to remember him joining us in the Recruitment team, and within weeks we got Joey Barton and Andre Gray. Both were fantastic signings and helped us win the Championship title. He may have been responsible for more players coming to BFC but he did not stay long.
Of recent we seem to have lost our way in this area of our business
Several things, Firstly we we were a big fish in the championship, so the fees and wages we could pay often blew others out of the water, its polar opposite in this league, we are in the bottom 20% of them stats every season.
Secondly the transfers in the championship that could be described as gambles were relatively small, in comparison, we cant make many if any 15-20m mistakes, which is what a player costs seems to cost in this league.
Thirdly the club wasn't looking for a buyer/investment back then. ( Hence why we are running a very tight ship now, and wanting to show very good balance sheets and post big profits )
As for Rigg, I don't know what he has done, offered or any transfer he has been involved in that either, we normally wouldn't have been, or a man on the street couldn't have recommended.
We were told not to expect instant miracles, but up to press it appears he hasn't done very much in terms of improving the situation since his arrival.
