Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
BFC’s spine imj is : Pope - Tarkowski - Westwood/McNeil - Wood
I really do not want to lose any of the squad really but the above are my please stay players, at least for next season.
On the subject of Tarkowski, I concluded that he was our best player. He has guts, strength, utterly fearless and he can play football as well.
That he continues to be ignored for England selection by Mr Southgate , mr dotted line to Aston Villa, vexes me no end. Tarks is a future England captain in the making.

You would rather have Chris wood over Rodrigo? The Spain international?

Not sure of that. Tarks can be a proper sh*thouse. He loves winding the opposition up too much.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
The fact that we have currently signed a 3rd choice GK and four young kids for the U23's might be a reason for some bickering and criticism
Just a wild guess, but hey ho

You know what, I would. Wood scores goals and has proven he can do it in the league we play in. As it stands, I'd prefer that to a completely unknown quantity.

It's getting a bit depressing is this thread, even in the modern world of on the pulse news and rumours with social media - nothing has whet the appetite. From now on - instead of just putting a link - can we have a Teletext ClubCall style headline by the poster - that'll make it much more interesting...

Chris Wood is a very good, clinical player when you take into consideration the number of chances he gets per game. Massive for us. So under appreciated.

Is it good news though? Of our 3 prize assets, Pope is the only one we can afford to replace with someone almost as good.claretandy wrote: ↑Mon Sep 07, 2020 5:58 pmSome good news, Chelsea have identified the keeper that they want.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Recruitment team is irrelevant, we could go find the best in world, it's the man signing the cheques who has the final say.
If he doesnt want to spend x amount, its irrelivent who the player is, how good a deal it is, if it doesn't fit in with Mr Garlicks end game it doesnt happen.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
From The Athletic.
David Moyes desperately needs to strengthen his defence — a fact underlined by conceding five goals against Bournemouth on Saturday — and The Athletic understands that the club followed up the sale of Diangana by making an increased second offer for the Burnley centre-half James Tarkowski of £22 million that could rise to £27 million with add-ons
The Athletic understands that West Ham first approached Burnley early last week and have made two bids so far for Tarkowski, with the second coming on Friday night.
It is understood that the 27-year-old is Moyes’ No 1 centre-back target. West Ham’s manager has been a big fan of Tarkowski after being impressed by him when he played for Oldham against Everton in the FA Cup back in 2013. He has tracked his progress since and after Tarkowski moved to Burnley, Moyes tried to sign him again for Sunderland. At that point, Tarkowski was back-up to Michael Keane and Ben Mee but the defender wanted to stay and fight for his place.
It is understood that Burnley believe the player is worth more than that second potential £27 million offer and manager Sean Dyche wants to keep hold of his impressive centre-back, who played 90 minutes against Hearts in a pre-season friendly on Saturday and is focused on his football.
The defender has just under two years left on his deal, so it is Burnley’s best chance to capitalise on selling him for a good fee and not a cut-price deal in 12 months time. The danger is that Burnley could face a situation of losing the player on a free, as they did recently with Jeff Hendrick, with the player able to sign a pre-contract elsewhere in 18 months time.
With no fee agreed between Burnley and any other club, there is no decision for Tarkowski to make yet. West Ham would be able to offer him a much more lucrative contract, with their average earner paid roughly double what Burnley’s top earners are. It may also enhance his England chances, with the player understood to be disappointed to miss out on Gareth Southgate’s England squad again despite ending the season in sensational form.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
With Seffield Utd increasing their squad with players likely to be in the starting 11 or around it, there may be some players become available. One is John Luscomb who I have been quite impressed with this year in the PL.Has 12 months on contract and apparently not signing, plus I suspect well in our wage range. I know he is 30 but he is more athletic than our 3 current midfielders and harder to knock off the ball, and looks very fit. Reminds me of Scotty Arfield at his best and has goals in him. Definitely a Dyche player. A two year deal, the option of a third for the club to activate him might get him. I can just see one of the promoted clubs going for him if we dont

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Remember when we nearly signed Andrew Robertson, Hakem Ziyech and snagged Defour? Those times seem a long long way off at the moment. Seems like even though we've been in the prem for 5 years, a lot of our competitors have moved beyond us financially.
I'm "all in" on the focus on the youth setup. When our time at the top table eventually ends, I want the legacy to be an updated stadium with improved facilities, safe standing and improved atmosphere, and a youth setup to rival many in the UK.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I wouldn't say they've moved beyond us, they always were beyond us. I find it baffling when fans shout "£100m, £100m!" forgetting that every other club has £100m too, plus their (very, very) wealthy backers. For some clubs, the money from television deals isn't the main source of income.Ric_C wrote: ↑Tue Sep 08, 2020 12:01 pmRemember when we nearly signed Andrew Robertson, Hakem Ziyech and snagged Defour? You have to embrace what we have at the moment, if not going to last forever unless we are taken over by billionaires. That's not a negative, its just the way it is.

Yes - and so would a few others by the looks of other responses.
Joelinton cost Newcastle £40m and has scored 2 goals, no wonder we focus on Championship talent that is likely to make the step up.
Given Wood's scoring record the £18m we paid for him is a steal.
Does make me wonder why we weren't in for the Derby fullbacks as £15m for the pair would have been a great piece of business.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I just don't understand all this panic about the lack of signings. Yes, it would be nice to have some new players in early to give them time to integrate with the existing ones, but we all know, that Burnley rarely do that. Neither do most other clubs and there is always a flurry of activity in the last two or three days.
For goodness sake, there are four weeks left yet before the window closes. Stop knocking the board when they are probably working as hard as they can to achieve what we all want.

I did - but happy to extend that to include the 'flurry' of activity across the last two or three days - for which we are rarely involved.
Maybe 3 players over the last 5/6 windows.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Watch and learn. I'll bet we do this time.
Do you seriously think that we aren't going to sign several players after what Sean said towards the end of last season? Do you think that the board are stupid enough to let Sean go? The board have a lot more idea of what is going on than anyone on this BB, and even with the loss of revenue due to Covid 19 and the lost Chinese TV deal, I'm sure they will come through. Why, because they always plan ahead and have money in hand for unforseen situations. They learned a lot from the collapse of ITV Digital and they don't want a repeat. Give them some credit, they know how to run a football club.
