I’ve heard we’ve been offered Danny Rose by Tottenham.

Would make a great defensive left wing
I wouldn't have Danny Rose as a free, even if Spurs paid his wages.
He has always come across as a loser. Great first couple of seasons, but since his career stalled he's walked around with a massive chip on his shoulder. The last thing we need is a player, any player, who feels sorry for himself. There's a reason Spurs keep shipping him out, yet none of the clubs he goes to try to make the move permanent.

Yep yet the manager keeps asking for more money

Add Lennon and Drinwaster to that list as well - and people wonder why the chairman is reluctant to release funds and been trying to tell people for over 12 months
So you’d rather we didn’t have a decent sub keeper? Give me strength.

No wonder we have no money, well done everyone.
I had a look at this, and this crossed my mind:
How much was spent on substitutes in total by each club?
Yes, it's obvious that we have spunked far too much money on Hart and Gibson, but it doesn't necessarily follow that our subs have been a bigger drain than those of other clubs.

Both bad signings, but we need to move on...here and now.

They really can't be blamed for not being as good as Pope and Mee, whatever we offered them in wages :D

I suppose we should be used to it now, it's what the PL is all about. There's plenty of millionaire footballers who rarely play.
You have to hand it to Lee Grant, BTW.

Suggestions of Hart and Gibson being money wasted coincide beautifully with grumbling about us not throwing money about willingly. Can't have it both ways.

Whilst Gibson and Hart have not been successful signings, I think Dyche has earned the right to make the odd poor signing for all the good/ profitable signings he has made during the same period.

However naturally when big fees are paid there is an expectation that the club would benefit more than if a player was signed for a much lesser fee.

Hart & Gibson just prove the point that every transfer is a gamble.
Just last week Sanchez was saying he wanted out of ManU after 1 training session cos it didn’t feel right and he was on £350k/week.
For all those saying by abroad it’s cheaper, I would suggest there are far more flops than successes. This mb would be in meltdown if we signed a couple of the flops.

Quite! If's, but's and maybe's. They could easily have been very successful and pushed us on to another top 7 finish. They didn't. Shame we didn't have a crystal ball. Every signing has a potential risk.

It's true about risk but signing Sordell,Juke.Drinky,Gibson and Hart all failed due diligence
All except Gibson had previous for failing
Joe particularly had problems at Torino and West Ham and was clearly on the fade.

Would Nick Pope been the keeper he was without Joe Hart challenging him for a place in the team?

Would Ben Gibson only make one appearance if it wasn’t for an unfortunate injury and would Tarkowski and Mee be the solid partnership when he returned to the squad?

We knew Danny Drinkwater needed to get match fit, but no one expected anticipated him getting his legs smashed in a bar

Was Arron Lennon a poor signing?

Before any of those players signed on the dotted line, where was the evidence to suggest they were going to be ‘poor signings’

Nobody had more previous than Joey Barton. That turned out quite well I think.

With the exception of Gibson , there was plenty of evidence the others could be poor signings , and they were , particularly Drinkwater

Aaron Lennon managed a few reasonable cameos but his underlying health issues stopped him giving his best
I am pleased we helped in his wellbeing and he got a new opportunity to play football because of the clubs efforts with him

I’m presuming this is a wind up. He turned out to be a fairly poor signing that will have cost the club a lot of money. He rarely delivered anything like what was expected on the pitch. Everyone wishes him well health wise but BFC isn’t a charity, counselling service or healthcare provider. Before he signed it looked a good signing though.

The only reliable source I've read regarding McNeil is that our price is too steep and so is unlikely to happen. But Leicester have Demarai Gray who's arguably just as good, if he came the other way.

Money is worthless to us if we don't replace players adequately. It doesn't take Rachel Riley to know how much less we would earn if we went down. Even £100 million for both players would be peanuts when compared to the income we'd lose if we dropped because of it.

McNeil kept us up imo when he came in for his debut. We were looking relegation fodder. I don't see how that would change if we sold him and didn't bring in someone equally as good.

Demari Gray is vastly overrated
Leicester rarely give him more than 10 mins in a game
To say hes as good as Dwight is total nonsense
I would sell Dwight for £50m ,reluctantly

At the risk of looking foolish for overestimating our board...

The fact that this is only news on the Leicester forum where they've convinced themselves it's a done deal for £32m I think it's safe to say it's option A.

Do we really think we sell a 20 year old winger, tied to a long term deal, for £32m without any kind of dragged out attempt to get an auction going when we've just turned down £30m for a 27 year old defender with 2 years left on his contract?

Also, he's been at their training ground but there is absolutely zero press coverage of this to even suggest an actual bid has been made at all?

To be fair. Of the three mentioned by DanielJWaterhouse on the other thread. Albrighton would be the more Dyche type player but on a permanent with a significant amount of cash coming our way too. We'd become more predictable than we already are though unless those funds were invested in other creative players. Not forgetting we still have to fill at least two positions, ideally three without even considering losing anyone.

I didn't see the other thread due to the time difference. Just had a quick read of a LCFC forum and got the info from there, seems like Dwight could well be off :(

More new contract extensions on the horizon, which going off who's ooc next summer, it's looking more likely to be some/all of: Lowton, Cork, JBG, Westwood, Long and Jimmy Dunne.

I'd be amazed if Tarks signed a new deal with us. If he's got any ambition and wants to better himself realistically he needs to be moving on soon.

Tarky has more or less spelt out his transfer request by stating he wants to play in the Champions League. Without wishing to sound too defeatist, he isn’t going to do that with Burnley

I know it seems like a long wait for actual football to start but really, between this and the JT thread are we really past 50 odd pages of "I know for a fact that...." etc etc
Let me know when the season starts.

Tarky has more or less spelt out his transfer request by stating he wants to play in the Champions League. Without wishing to sound too defeatist, he isn’t going to do that with Burnley
He won't do it with West Ham either.

He won't be with Leicester either next season and no guarantee of that in the future with the money the big clubs are spending. Absolutely zero chance of West Ham reaching the top four.

Look into my eyes, not around the eyes in the eyes...

"West Ham won the world cup dont you know... Tarkowski doesn't really want to go there but his agent is telling them he does to increase the interest from Leicester who wont want to miss out on signing him if West Ham manage to get Burnley to agree to a favourable price..."

More new contract extensions on the horizon, which going off who's ooc next summer, it's looking more likely to be some/all of: Lowton, Cork, JBG, Westwood, Long and Jimmy Dunne.

Source: Boden
They'll be like new signings :D

CT might even add them to the list ;)

No agent in the world will discourage bids for their player. All very positive PR to be in demand, even if it amounts to nothing.

On Tarks id be hoping we have offered him a new deal.

Here’s an extra £20k a week with 2 extra years in his contract. Release fee stays the same. He knows we won’t let him go cheap for 18 months so he might as well be earning extra.

Clubs don’t let players go cheap these days even as contracts start coming to an end. It’s worth far too much to be in the Premier League.
