Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
The summer 2020 transfer window started on 27 July and is open for 10 weeks, ending on 5 October. A domestic-only window, during which Premier League clubs can only trade with those in the EFL, will run from 5 October to 17:00 BST on 16 October.
I had completely missed the extension to the window to allow for transfers from the EFL.

I may be wrong but isn't that just for EFL clubs to buy and loan from the Prem clubs? Once the window is shut and the prem squads are decided?Burnleyareback2 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 10:18 pmThe summer 2020 transfer window started on 27 July and is open for 10 weeks, ending on 5 October. You could well be right, that would make some sense. But then the way I read it seemed to make sense in the respect of supporting the EFL with cash.Somethingfishy wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 10:28 pmI may be wrong but isn't that just for EFL clubs to buy and loan from the Prem clubs? Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Well, we were the team that couldn’t really fill our subs bench at the end of last season, the team that needed to strengthen more than any other. Well the season is starting and nothing has happened. For a change, our rivals have actually bought well - rather than pay fortunes for laugh out loud no-hopers. I’m normally very optimistic but the current situation is giving me mild palpitations. Time for a large drink

The sticky shows most of the players that have been involved in transfers by EPl clubs.
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=48602
This page shows all of the transfers involving domestic clubs ( sorry if the page has adds, I don't get them ).
https://www.sportinglife.com/football/n ... als/175716
Transfermarkt shows all of the transfers in this window, which reveals an unusual amount of loans, swaps and low price sales.

Just select a league in the competition drop down to see all the different leagues.

Its basically the 6th of August, we don't switch the fax machine on until the last week of the window to save a few quid, and before you scoff, it's good forward planning like that and the subsequent savings that help keep season tickets frozen.Taffy on the wing wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 2:44 amTwo and a half pages of DROSS!.........i've been out all day, i actually became hopeful when i saw we were up to 42 pages.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I just thought it was a funny post. Dig at us, obviously, but if you take that away we do come across a bit amateurish in the transfer windows from the outside looking in.
Overall, I’m glad we are run well and have cash in the bank with no debt. But in transfer windows it can become frustrating when teams are making signings and we seem to be spending all our time offloading Gibson and rejecting offers for Tarks (see Dyche’s “nothing close” comment). Particularly in a season where we’ve lost players and ahead of another one where we’ll have 7 ooc.
On balance, when I look at other clubs signings there’s not many I envy. But the fact that we’ve done well in recent years probably only begs the question where we might’ve ended up had we “stretched” a bit more?

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I mentioned it before, I’ve spoken to football agents that openly said they avoid trying to link players with Burnley because of the way we run things tightly. (Admittedly this was 3-4 years ago now)
Am I bothered? Not at all, I’d rather keep the leaches away. The right sort of players will come.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
My source tells me we are trying to sign a first team ready player but probably won’t be finalised before our first game. This is aside from Tarkowski who we’d need to replace too if the valuation was met. Don’t shoot the messenger.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I think there is a negative impact of our current strategy in that we’re perhaps not seen as a progressive club going places, not only to potential new recruits but also our own leading players.
A combination of Dyche’s inferred criticism of the Board late last season, running with the smallest squad in the league, the embarrassment of that plane, England’s ignorance of our best players. Sadly all these factors have reinforced the image of unfashionable Burnley and (maybe to some) the feeling that we are rigid and have reached our ceiling.
Sometimes it’s easier for the clubs on the rise like sheff United to sell the excitement of being the place to be.
Time will tell, losing Charlie Austin on the eve of the season ended up being a blessing in that it allowed Ings and Vokes to blossom, but we have no comparable lifeline to consider if we lost Tarks or McNeil right now.

As is 'Normal' with the gutter press, they exaggerate comments and also take them out of context just to build a story. They also lie outright. I doubt that some of Sean's comments were half as bad as they have been made to appear.

If he was prepared to make such comments publicly, I wonder just what might have been said (or perhaps not said) behind closed doors.
There have obviously been problems between Dyche and Mike Garlick. Hopefully there has been some discussion and resolution between them.

... You have to make bids in the first place to be turned down!... Making serious bids, asking price bids, matching bids or not waiting until the last minute!
The lack of players coming in over the last 3 seasons, is purely down to us needing far better quality players than the past to improve what we already have and the board haven't got the bottle to go that little bit further. It is as simple as that! Even Dyche has alluded to that many, many times, so forget your conspiracy theories, it's all down to money!
Even if we did make decent bids for players, do you really think the modern-day footballer actually cares about the things you mention? If you do, then you are very naive! The same players that regular act like travellers, not caring about their children leaving friends or school ... It's all about the coin, always has and always will be but it would be nice if the board actually put us in a place to get turned down by a player!

Did I say that there hadn't been friction? No, I just said that the comments were probably not as bad as were made out. As for discussion at board room level, then there's nothing wrong with that. It's exactly the right forum for disputes to be aired.DCWat wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 9:41 amI’m not sure we needed the press to form an opinion of Sean’s comments. I disagree that the comments were probably not as bad as were made out. I think that Dyche coming out publicly as he did, suggests that behind the scenes, it could be worse.
Of course there should be discussion at board room level.

Of course it would be worse at board room level. That's where the real views need to be aired. I wasn't saying it wouldn't be but that doesn't mean it was at breaking point. And hopefully, it is now resolved. The next three weeks should give us a bit more clarity.DCWat wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 9:59 amDid I say, that you said, that there hadn’t been friction?

100% Spot on post (the bed wetters will be on soon)
We must be the only team in the prem at the start of the new season (up to now) not to bring in one single player that improves the starting line up, it will start to catch up with us soon we can't carry on being lucky with injuries this squad is an againg squad and it will cost us in the end

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Decent sized following Twitter profile saying that 3 different sources say Leicester will move to sign McNeil prior to the end of the transfer window. Which would be even worse for us than selling him now, as we'd have no time to find any replacement.
We need players in before any leave. It's that simple. If either of Tarky/McNeil left, we would need to have already brought in their replacements FIRST. There won't be anything as obvious as that this window, that's for sure.
If we get to the end of the window, we don't sell. We tell them to come back in the next window or next summer. Otherwise, it's suicide and we'd deserve everything we get.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Which will hurt us big time. We'll sell McNeil with a few hours of the window remaining and not have time to bring anyone in. So we will have to 'go with what we have' until when, January/February? We would need to have the replacement ready to sign straight away. The same goes for Tarky, although that will need to be the second replacement, as we already need a Gibson replacement before the season starts.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
If we lose Tarks and McNeil and get no or poorer replacements as seems highly likely (re replacements) and with Mee out for a time are we looking like beating Derby's record points total?
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
And the problem with selling the likes of Tarks, McNeil or Pope before we sign anyone is that the selling clubs will know we have a wad of cash from these sales and will hold us to an even bigger ransom than they would have before.
We need to play hardball ourselves and put ridiculous prices on our top players just like other clubs do and make sure we have replacements in before we sell.
We haven't even replaced Gibson, Lennon or Hendrick yet all the talk is about selling our best players. SD and the board really need to pull a rabbit out of the hat if we are going to survive this season. I understand how the club has to be run and being frugal is fine but burying your head in the sand won't cut it with our current squad and possible injuries.

Why is everyone assuming that Tarky and McNeil are leaving anyway? Clubs might make bids, but that doesn't mean that we will sell. I'd much prefer we kept both of them instead of trying to integrate new, less able players into the squad.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 11:00 amWhich will hurt us big time. The board aren't stupid, despite the flack they get on here. They know the risks a lot better than any of us as they deal with them on a daily basis. Whatever happens, they will do their best for BFC given the cards they have been dealt. Could they have seen the loss of revenue that Covid 19 has brought? Of course not. The same with the Chinese TV deal being pulled, although I suspect they might have planned a bit for that as it's been going on for six months.
Why don't we just wait and see what happens in the next three weeks, because all the bleating on here won't change things anyway. We have a board that has done amazing things in the last few years and I'm sure, that given a chance, they will continue to do so.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I find a potential Mcneil transfer strange. His dad has said he needs to stay at Burnley and would he be a starter in the Leicester team? He also seems to be all over our social media, modeling new kits and interacting. Of course, if a bid comes in then there is a choice to make. IF he did go I think as others have said they will try and add a player in exchange, Albrighton would seem the most obvious candidate. He is a Dyche sort of player.
As for Tarks, Leicester seemed to have moved on to Fofana, so at the moment leaves West Ham doing all the bidding. The only reason to move there would be money. They are a club in Turmoil.
Pope doesn't need to move and again it looks like Chelsea have moved on.
If we lost both Mcneil and Tarks, but got Albrighton and a player from West Ham (would love Antonio, but probably no chance) Then we would need 2 Centre Backs and a versatile midfielder.
Dyche could go back for Dawson and still sign a young up and coming Centre Back (Worral) Midfielder (Lewis Obrien - unless still injured). Not everyones cup of tea, but Victor Moses is available and has a lot to prove. Seems a decent guy supporting his old club Wigan. A return for Trippier seems a pipe dream, certainly this season.
Losing Mcneil would be dissapointing but for me the least costly of the potential 3 departures. Offer both Tarks and Pope new contracts with new release clauses. Hopefully we wont lose any and finally the board will release some cash to help Sean. As others have said, imagine what we could acheive with some quality additions.

Taken fron the BFC web page. Sean Dyche speaking.
“It’s quite evident that we need people in. We lost a few last season so we are trying to affect that, but as I say every window it is rare that we get business done early.
“We are still waiting on the reality of the situations in regard to the ones we feel we have a chance with. It’s not a new challenge, but it is a challenge.
“We want to be looking at players who can affect the side with immediate effect or mature into the side because they are very good players.
“So that is the market we are attempting to look in, but obviously the finances will determine the parameters that can only go so far.
“The chairman and board spoke to me about the numbers that were needed over the coming 18 months, so it’s how many we can push on.
“There is always speculation about names and prices, but at the end of the day it’s only about who comes in. We can be linked with everyone, but it’s about the outcome rather than the process.”
So everyone at the club is aware of what is needed, and the board specifically asked Sean about it. That doesn't suggest that the board are just sitting on their hands and ignoring what the manager wants. They say that a week is a long time in politics, well three weeks in a transfer window is even longer. Patience please.

With good reason. Read the first line here. https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/f ... k-18556372arise_sir_charge wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 11:15 amBut you were happy to take the press at their word about Ben Mee being fit for the start of the season?
Tony might not like Lancs Live but it's not a newspaper and it's usually pretty accurate in what it says.

Chris Wood on squad depth.
"We've got a good team, a good squad - we've lost a few players now which isn't ideal but hopefully over the next few weeks we can get some in and see where we can go from there," said the New Zealand international.
"We all want to start well but at the moment we have 14 fit first team players, it's going to be tough.
"I think the budget is the hardest point about it but if I was a player looking at Burnley, who have been in the Premier League for six years, why wouldn't I want to be there?
And regarding the youth players coming through...
The striker said: "There's a few there with potential, I don't think most are ready yet as it's a big step up especially when you're in the Premier League.
"They are getting there and morphing into good players but we need first team bodies in and around our dressing room, that's what we need now."

What do you mean? I was just taking issue with Mov's assertion that we are the only PL club that hasn't signed anyone to improve the starting line up. None of those three clubs have either. What's desperate about that?

So? Who said it was a new report? The point was that Sean expected Ben to be fit for the start of the season.
For some reason you just like nitpicking.

No, I like to pick up 'know it all' types who consider their opinion to one of fact, even though it fly's in the face of what everybody else seems to know.Gordaleman wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 12:40 pmSo? Whatever. You were proved wrong on two counts. One that Sean said he expected Ben to be fit and two that there wasn't a link to it.arise_sir_charge wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 12:45 pmNo, I like to pick up 'know it all' types who consider their opinion to one of fact, even though it fly's in the face of what everybody else seems to know.
End of conversation, though I'm sure that you will want the last word.
