BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER/AUTUMN 2020 (MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Some of our fans don't like it but I'd pay far more attention to Nixon than someone like Chris Boden.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
It’s clear that Rigg is the new Hoos for many fans. QPR have had no problems recruiting new talent since he went there, and Rigg had no problem recruiting new talent in his previous roles.
The problems lie elsewhere.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
There will always be an excuse to hand for why can't sign player X or player Y.
Wages too high, transfer fee too high, owners difficult to deal with, owners too rich and don't need to sell, players don't want to live up north, not a good lad, no PL experience, too old, the pens didn't work on deadline day. There really is no such thing as the percent signing. The fact is though we've simply got to add, at least, a couple of bodies to our wafer-thin squad. It's not as though we've got a fully fit wafer-thin squad either, far from it. I still hope we'll do that but the noises coming out of the club are anything but encouraging. It's all negative.
As for Boden vs Nixon, that's like choosing between being p1ssed on and being shat on. One is just totally useless, and the other is a rotund recluse with serious issues. I wouldn't go near either for a report on the colour of grass.

I think we might be the only Premier League team that hasn't yet signed a player to compete for the first team during this transfer window. Well, unless we count a backup keeper? Unfortunately the lack of activity is none too surprising. We have, by some margin, the oldest squad in the Premier League yet we keep on kicking the can down the road.

We've tried enough times for Dawson, you can only assume that dyche likes him.claretandy wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 9:42 amNixon said on Radio Lancs that it's nailed on that we will sign Dawson from Watford whether Tarky goes or not, also after Osayi-samuel at QPR but there are disagreements over signing him. Both are available cheaply.
The disagreement regarding osayi-samual is worrying if its dyche who doesn't want him, and the signing is forced on him by others.

Can’t imagine Dyche wants Samuel. Looks greedy and lazy to me. Talented, no doubt, and good at running with the ball, just not in the Dyche mould really.
May end up with no choice though, given how we’re taking it to the wire.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
If we hold onto Tarky, and sign Dawson & BOS, then it'll have been an OK window, and I'd be much more confident in our survival prospects.claretandy wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 9:42 amNixon said on Radio Lancs that it's nailed on that we will sign Dawson from Watford whether Tarky goes or not, also after Osayi-samuel at QPR but there are disagreements over signing him. Dawson adds nous at the back, and even if he doesn't play week in week out, he'll be a solid capture.
BOS should give us an attacking threat down the right, and he's at the stage of his career, where if he proves successful with us, we should be able to sell him on, in a year or two for a decent profit.
The reality is we need to add to the squad, our bench at Leicester could well contain a couple of youngsters, now I'm all for giving the youngsters their chance if they're ready, but it would be a big risk to blood them in the PL right now, but if we don't recruit in the next couple of weeks, we might have no choice.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Question about BOS is can he track back and what's his crossing/final ball like? Seen lots of tricks and pace but little of the crossing/defensive side. As said above though, we may not have any other option at this rate.

What I can’t understand is why we’re not in for Eliasson over BOS. He played LWB the other day (also plays on right), hit the post from a FK, got one assist and another goal came from his cross after it was headed back across. Doesn’t play regularly as Bristol play wing backs not wingers and one year left on contract so going very cheap. Ticks Mikes box, so seems a no-brainer to me. Think JRod and Woody would thrive off his deliveries.

If I am being honest I Think BOS is a much better player than Eliasson.
I have watched BOS quite a bit over the last season or so. very good direct player and I think with a bit of Dyche training could be a very good premier league player

I also can’t quite see why he’s hyped up by so many on here. I haven’t seen loads of him but when I have he’s always looked like a bit of a show pony with little end product. A powerful player and clearly technically gifted, but the kind of player I could see being totally nullified in the PL. I think the commentator last night mentioned that he’d scored 1 goal in his last 20 games.

They are usually not ‘stories’ anyway. The board and manager don’t agree on transfer policy ..... nothing moving forward ...we won’t pay asking price ....
I could write all that myself.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I agree. Think better quality defenders would have him in their pocket. Wouldn’t object to him as back up to Dwight (let Brady go on a swap deal, perhaps) given he’s so cheap, and think he might do well in a sub capacity late in games when defenders are tiring while Sean and the team work their magic, but wouldn’t take him over Eliasson given they’re both likely to be in the same sort of cost bracket.Rileybobs wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 12:02 pmI also can’t quite see why he’s hyped up by so many on here. Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Tbh, I don’t think either would light up the PL. What I dislike about BOS is he seems to run a lot with the ball. Think that would get found out in the PL. Eliasson seems a more limited player, with one amazing skill - whipping great crosses in. No fuss, just stands on the wing and whips them in. Given how we play, and the quality we have in the air, I think he’d be a brilliant asset to bring on from the bench when we need a goal.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 11:58 amIf I am being honest I Think BOS is a much better player than Eliasson.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
We can offer an immediate route back to the Prem for Dawson, and as a replacement/back up for Tarkowski it would be someone who is still very experienced at this level, and very competent as well.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
It depends where the reluctance on BOS comes from. If it is Dyche then I'd steer clear, we know SD likes to do his homework on personalities and all and we all know he and Warburton know each other so he will have the inside track on him. If the message he's getting is he's not a fit then fair enough. If SD wants him and he's hearing he's the right type but it's the recruitment team don't rate then we go with SD.
There's no point signing a player if SD doesn't rate him as he won't get the opportunities.
Personally I rate BOS. A lot of the criticism levelled at him is similar to what Adama Traore got, I'm not saying they are or will be the same level but he has a lot of similar qualities and could be developed into a very effective PL winger. His pace, skill and direct running off the bench would be a massive impact for us and a real switch of threat that could turn games IMO.

Looking like we are going after the aging leftovers again.
I’m not surprised, our transfer dealings have been poor for some time now. Hopefully the younger lads are ok for the championship next year

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
mirror - just repeating what we already know
"Dyche admits Burnley are 'lastminute.com'
Sean Dyche has compared Burnley’s transfer business to a last-gasp holiday package website as he admitted the club needed to offload some players before bringing in any new additions.
Burnley have so far signed only goalkeeper Will Norris from Wolves, while several senior players have left the club, including Jeff Hendrick, Aaron Lennon and Joe Hart, but all on free transfers.
Dyche said: “Ours has often been ‘lastminute.com’; sell first, buy second, that kind of thinking. That’s the way the club is.
“When you know what you have to manage, you manage it the best you can. We work from zero upwards - at least we know that is the case."

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Problems is that the better we perform the harder and more expensive it is to find players that can come in and make a difference. The risk we are taking is that the squad is too thin and loss of form or any more injuries will see us in serious bother. We desperately need cover in MF and RW, along with another first choice CH if Tarks leaves (if he stays I think we will be ok with what we have got, assuming Mee isn’t too far away from being fit). We also need to be aware of the fact that there are a number of players OOC at the end of the season so if we don’t want too much disruption then we either need to be extending contracts or bringing players in now who can step up when the others leave. If we can keep hold of all our players and add a couple first teamers then I think we will be ok.

Some might not want to hear this but our recruitment has been very good since we got promoted. You simply don't equal your best points total if it wasn't.
Getting into Europe and being close to getting in a second time around says we are doing well in getting in the correct players.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
With respect Spijed the reason we equalled our best points position is that Dyche gets the very best out of the team and a painfully small squad, and relatively few injuries and no suspensions last season. He also gets the very best out of people consistently. We are also very organised in defense and work very hard.Look what he has done with Westwood, Pieters,Vokes,Ward,Mee, Lowton. Look at what happens when they leave-Ward, Vokes, Boyd, JonesSpijed wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 4:19 pmSome might not want to hear this but our recruitment has been very good since we got promoted. The fact we have barely 11 fit players -a situation we have had for nearly 8 weeks now says everything you need to know about recruitment. Tomorrow we face a hungry, fully fit Leicester side, and we may not have Tarkowski playing. I find the thought of containing Vardy and Barnes's pace quite frightening particularly if we start with Dunn and Long

If Fulham were supposedly interested in Dawson yesterday then I suspect they will escalate their interest from tonight. Their defense v Leeds was quite appalling and Hector most definitely is not a PL defender

Good results don't necessarily mean good recruitment. Sometimes good managers get the most out of underfunded squads. For example Ferguson during his last few years at United or Rafa Benitez at Newcastle.Spijed wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 4:19 pmSome might not want to hear this but our recruitment has been very good since we got promoted. Without Dyche we'd be odds-on favourites for relegation because our squad is one of the weakest in the division.

I'd say our defence and strikers are above average for the teams not including the top six. Midfield-wise I think we have one of the poorest.
