I actually think that shopping in the Championship would now be a little bit easier than previously given the situation with COVID. Championship clubs are feeling the pinch just like we are. Example being the two Derby full backs who went to Sheff Utd for less than £15m combined when Derby were reportedly asking for that figure for just one of them (Bogle) around 12 months ago.

Names like Davies, Pearson and Johnson from PNE, Wallace from Millwall etc now look a little more appealing than perhaps they once did...and i don't think would now cost as much as their respective clubs wanted a few months ago.

Saw that earlier and wondered if he was someone we should have been after. One of Preston's top performers, right age (25), right fee (c.£5m reported), probably happy as a back up initially.

We have a habit of missing these types of signings and then trying to buy the player further down the line for a bigger fee. I'd like to see us get in there early for players with potential, especially as the majority believe the starting 11 can compete as it stands.

Turning 28 next month, Rangers made a derisory offer of 2m, can see 5m + a young player going the other way on Loan.

As others have said, there are bargains out there. Whether he or the others are in the thinkingis anyones guess.

Its OK saying "plenty of time to go" if we were proficient at recruitment , and had a good track record. Theres never been a more urgent time in the PL for us to have built up our squad

A bargain is only a bargain if he turns out to be good enough. I suspect someone who has been at PNE since 2015 probably has the bottlejobitis imbedded firmly in his DNA by now....so that’s why he’s linked with the pub league north of the border

Connor Gallagher looking like going on loan to WBA-shrewd bit of business if they can get him.Has had two good seasons, one with Charlton followed by Swansea .High energy CM . I am sure we could have given him the same number of starts as WBA. Mentioned this as I believe we monitored him in the January window. Dread what will happen if Westwood and Brownhill, or both get injured in the near future

I see him wide right putting in good performances like Hendrick/Arfield/JBG
We need to have a much stronger presence in CM (in terms of height, strength in tackle and ability to control the ball)
As good as Westwood and Cork have been they don't win the hard battles and get caught in possession far too often. They also lack the pace needed in today's type of game.
A starting CM would be the first buy for me

Pieters will do that if we need him to. All round top pro.

McNeill played centrally at times towards the back end of next season. It’s not ideal by any means but we’re realistically only one player short in central midfield, and I would like to think that will be addressed by the end of the transfer window.

This all depends on what the manager expects from a CM.
The ability to put a decent tackle in has to be up there with his priorities, something I haven't seen in Brady or McNeil (not that I would expect it of either).

Don't think Dyche would want McNeil playing in a midfield 2. I'd say Pieters would slot in there first. Plus our two midfielders main duty is to basically protect the back 4, which would be a waste of our most creative player.
