He was in their first team at the end of last season so no improvement there.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
The word SIGNED is the main word if you like being picky, like you do when pulling other people's post's apart
Last season he was on loan so technically not a West Ham player......so he's signed.

With all the people on here who know so much more than Mike Garlick about how to conduct business and run a football club, isn't it weird that it's he who has ended up owning the club? Presumably he inherited all his money?
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Yes he's signed but they haven't improved the starting line up though, just kept it the same.

One thing I'll guarantee. Whether or not we sign anyone, we won't be bottom of the league after the first round of matches. In fact, I reckon we'll be about equal tenth come next Tuesday morning without even playing a game.

Alphabetically? Aslong as united/city don’t play before us, they can’t end up above us
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
No one is having a go at the individual MG, weve had 4 consecutive years in this league and he as Chairman has been at the helm of it. But, he has reached a crossroad as to exactly how much more he can do as the biggest shareholder, he hasn't the riches of his own to put in, he appears to be reluctant to borrow money to facilitate the changes needed (signings) and he is in a position now where all his very talented players are on others wish list, and of the others left a good number are in their final year perhaps looking for one more big pay day. It's not a headache I would like to have, but it's very real and something has to and will give as sure as is day.HarryPottsDesk wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 1:08 pmWith all the people on here who know so much more than Mike Garlick about how to conduct business and run a football club, isn't it weird that it's he who has ended up owning the club? So we wouldn't be bottom based on alphabetical order.
Someone start the open top bus, we need a parade!
Don't think alphabetical order is a legitimate means of separating teams to be honest but never mind.

I don't know why you think that. As Sean himself said, we rarely buy anyone until the last minute, and that's largly true if you look at signings in recent years.Blackburnclaret wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 8:52 pmThe longer it goes on without signing anyone makes me wonder if there is a takeover progressing in the background

May explain why Dyche was very vocal during the restart but is very muted now? Well, they showed a new interview with him at HT and he was very bullish. I doubt he'll miss more than the Leicester game going off what he said.
That said, it's up to Sean, and we know Sean's mantra. He likes players to come back "Once"

Let's not pretend that Kevin Long is not just a backup. Let's also not pretend Ben Mee is a world class CB.Gordaleman wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 9:35 pmWell, whenever he comes back he'll be welcome, but until then we have a perfectly good replacement in Long. Given that Gibson has gone and Ben is injured for an undefined period, we need a starting CB. Likely to be 3rd choice in the longer run but that makes Dawson all the more favourable.

Hi Bc, it is different this year, it's September and the Premier League starts tomorrow - and Burnley don't have a game because our opposition aren't ready to start just yet.Blackburnclaret wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 9:04 pmIt seems different this year for some reason ...dont seem linked with the same amount of players ....garlick very quiet ..usually gives us a brief update ...something not right
Burnley's transfer window business, hmm, not much different that other windows; discussions about the players that might get sold/tempted away, discussions about players that other teams will offer/pay more than Burnley and then we learn Burnley have signed someone - with no real idea whether negotiations have been going on for weeks, or have been "rushed through" in a couple of days....

I don't recall saying that Ben Mee was 'World class'. However, I believe he's as good a left sided CH as the ones who get picked for England. So he's not bad.Row Z wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 9:53 pmLet's not pretend that Kevin Long is not just a backup. Let's also not pretend Ben Mee is a world class CB.

Dawson would be a waste. We have enough older players with no sell on value. We need to bring in another like Tarky, who can grow and develop his game under Sean's tutelage and become a resaleable asset down the road.

Agree with the principle, but as we stand I'd rather sign a first team ready CH who can drop in and do a job.Gordaleman wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 9:59 pmI don't recall saying that Ben Mee was 'World class'. Behind that you are quite correct. Over the years we have done it well and made sure when we lose players we have replacements already within the squad.

So you want us to spend a lot of money on a CH, just as cover until Ben gets back in a relatively short time? Or have you made up your mind that Tarky is leaving? I'd rather spend that money on a younger RFB or Right Winger. Don't forget, when Ben is back, we will still have Longy who can come in and "Do a job" as he has before. Plus, given that both Ben and Tarky rarely seem to get injured, then whoever comes in will need to be happy being a bench warmer.Row Z wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 10:02 pmAgree with the principle, but as we stand I'd rather sign a first team ready CH who can drop in and do a job.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I didnt say anything about the amount we should spend, but we need competition for both Ben and Tarks. Long does not provide this competition and people forget that Ben has been through spells of poor form previously.Gordaleman wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 10:09 pmSo you want us to spend a lot of money on a CH, just as cover until Ben gets back in a relatively short time? Given we are only a week away from the start of the season, and rumours of JT going, he could be seen as the safe option

I'm not sure we do, if Tarks stays, that means we have Long, Mee, Tarks as our recognised CH'S, and how many games did Long play last season, a handful at the back end when Ben was injured, and we were already safe, I'd rather we spent on improving the CM roles, especially if Cork is going to miss a lot of the season, yes Brownhill is showing promise in his brief time with us, but if he lines up alongside Westy in CM, that leaves us relying on both to remain available until about Xmas, that's a big risk to take in such a pivotal area of the pitch, also we need a right sided midfielder, and a right winger, if we get those 3 positions covered, then we'll look a lot stronger.

The Cork injury is a concern and that would be my priority. Wideman, no so much. Our 3 widemen can all play both sides and if Cork gets fit Brownhill can also cover Wide Right.tiger76 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 11:58 amI'm not sure we do, if Tarks stays, that means we have Long, Mee, Tarks as our recognised CH'S, and how many games did Long play last season, a handful at the back end when Ben was injured, and we were already safe, I'd rather we spent on improving the CM roles, especially if Cork is going to miss a lot of the season, yes Brownhill is showing promise in his brief time with us, but if he lines up alongside Westy in CM, that leaves us relying on both to remain available until about Xmas, that's a big risk to take in such a pivotal area of the pitch, also we need a right sided midfielder, and a right winger, if we get those 3 positions covered, then we'll look a lot stronger.
Not sure your difference between RW & RSM, unless you are meaning attacking, dribbling winger and more defence covering MFer.

How about, and bearing in mind we are a Premier League club, having 2 players for each positiion capable of playing in the first team, rather than 3 midfielders or wide players covering 2 positions ?

I read on The Athletic today that we have the oldest squad (by some margin) in the Premier League. We really need to work on getting that average age down soon. I liked the Brownhill signing and hope we can find (and afford) some more players of his ilk from the Championship.
