While I don’t agree with Boysie’s somewhat out there views on Dyche, he’s certainly right about the age profile of the squad. Could have a big rebuild job soon.

A persons top speed reduces by 0.13mph for every year after the age of 22.

SD on Tarkowski:

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has reiterated his desire to keep Leicester City target James Tarkowski at Turf Moor - but warned the final decision would be out of his hands.

The Foxes reportedly saw a £30m offer for the in-demand defender rejected on Friday. And Dyche has indicated the 27-year-old remains central to his plans.

“It will be a board decision. I certainly want to keep him, make no mistake,” Dyche said.

“He’s had all the checks, everything has been done.”

Not sure what the last line means - whether he's been given the green light to play next game or what.

I read some shite on Twitter where someone from another club said we should accept £30 million and reinvest into the side.

When you take out what Brentford would be owed, we wouldn't replace him with the remaining money.

But is this the problem. SD has been told there's no money for transfers unless they sell Tarks and SD knows as much as anyone else how much we need him. So he's caught between a rock and hard place, sell our best player and bolster the squad or keep him and struggle with a threadbare squad until players return from injury.

I guess it's all a case of whether we can replace him for a fraction of the price we sell him for. This is what it boils down to, to me.

We've shown that JT and Mee are paramount to us and aren't easily replaceable.

There was more on that. His words were:

“He's got a sore toe, so we're having to wait for that.
He said to me it's not serious, but it is sore, that's the way that one is. He's had all the checks, everything has been done.”

Way I read it is JT is claiming to have a sore toe and we’ve done the Xrays, etc. He doesn’t say what they did or didn’t tell us.

Personal opinion but I think JT is keeping himself out. Whether that’s with the clubs knowledge/consent is anyone’s guess. I think what is certain (in my mind) is we’ve dropped points as a result and will more than likely need two CB’s in the last week, which is a **** position to be in.

In his recent comments SD has let it be known that the Board position is that we must sell before any meaningful signings are made.

Problem is if it goes down to the last few days of the window we will struggle to bring in adequate replacements/additions.

If Tarkowski is refusing to play, as now I firmly believe to be the case (sorry but no one can prove to me otherwise), then couple this with Gibsongate and you feel the management is dead soft. He must surely have lost the respect from his colleagues. Maybe if Southgate is kept in the know it throws out the wrong signals re a recall to the England squad. One very immature person

They’ve not exactly fallen into place for the previous three, four, five or more windows.

I can’t remember the last one where it looked like we’d had a really effective window.

This is the problem with the wait until the end of the window to judge talk. We’ve waited until the end for a good number of windows now and the outcome is generally the same.

Dyche has been hindered by our dealings. It can’t go on forever without us reaping the consequences. Also, if we continue with older players, we are storing the same problem up, year after year.

I’d say the fact that so many are panicking that we might be relegated at the end of THIS season suggests our previous transfer windows have been adequate... and that this one has not closed yet.

Commentator during the Man City v Leicester game just remarked that if Leicester pick up 1 or 2 injuries the squad will be looking threadbare and that Brendan Rodgers is looking for reinforcements.

Pep also just brought on a 17 year old and City also said to be down to the bare bones.

I’m more concerned in this window with the number of players short that we are, in part due to injuries, in part due to departures. When two of those we are waiting on to return are regularly injured and one it appears, could be looking for a move, it’s a much bigger challenge in terms of recruitment, this time.

Dyche cannot be expected to keep making a silk purse from a sow’s ear. There comes a time (not every window) when we need to properly bolster the squad. You only need to have listened to Dyche over the last twelve months to understand that our recruitment has not been good enough.

How many games in a season are we likely to get from Brady and JBG anyway, given their injury records over recent seasons, even when they do return to the fold?

Manchester City look more in need of additions to the back 4 than Leicester. Already given away 3 penalties this afternoon.

Not arguing with anything in this post. SD will always want more, it is his job To serve up the best he can.... nor am I arguing that recruitment could not have gone better... you only need to look at recent failures to see that. Who is to blame in any given situation is guesswork, but if any Burnley fan really thinks Garlick was sat in the stand happy with our current squad situation: it is them that need to give their heads a wobble. The players at the top of any wish list are likely to be most expensive and so are naturally both more in demand and less likely to commit at good value until time gets tight... if we bring in three stop gap players it could well mean writing off a real target that has yet to decide.

Lets see-no one knows for sure but consider this
-he lost the captaincy in a game he played in
-this shortly after he went on record as saying he wanted to get back in the England squad and wanted Champions League, and indicated neither were possible at BFC
-he had a record at Brentford for going on strike
-pre Sheff Utd game Chris Boden said it was only a toe injury, had it been a league game he would have started
-previously in all his time at Burnley he hardly missed a minute(he had a hand operation during the International break-that I believe has been the extent of his injury)
-anti biotics can work fairly immediately on an alleged infected toe
-he has missed 4 cup and league games with what is a minor injury
-this has all happened through intense speculation that several bids have been made by two clubs
-SD is very vague about his injury. Just watch his body language when he talked about it last night
-he travelled to Millwall and was part of the squad

Do you want me to go on
