He's not wrong though. Maguire is poor.

No time for John Barnes after his pitiful attempt to put Marcus Rashford down. Barnes said that Marcus should concentrate his time on football, instead of promoting dinners for school kids, even though we were still in lockdown and know football

Barnes was annoyed because at the time Marcus was taking away the publicity from BLM

I suspect his actions probably did a lot more for black lives matter than the kneeling has - save maybe for the first few occasions.

I've met John Barnes, really nice chap. Can't comment on anything recent, it was in the 90's

IMO JB has some really good views on racism. I suppose I think they are good because I agree with them.

John Barnes dined out for years on that Brazil goal
He had ago at management and even managed to loose at Celtic ,a team anyone should be able to succeed with
Some former players have to accept they are not up to the job of manager it's totally irrelevant to drag colour into the reason for getting sacked, its about results

Do you have a link to a quote? The only one I can find is this,

"I have to commend Marcus Rashford and high-profile, black or other sportsmen, celebrities, popstars, instead of talking about themselves, about how terrible it is for them because they can’t get an Oscar or get in a boardroom, to then say ‘let’s look at what’s going on in our inner-cities’.

“I’m glad that he’s talked about this, which is obviously the first step in terms of school dinners, but then imagine moving on to talk about education, housing, jobs. You can improve that, you can influence that, if they want to use their voice for that rather than just talking about themselves.

I’m with Fretters on this one.
When I saw John Barnes interviewed and asked about Rashford he had nothing but good things to say about him.

As for the comment about “dining out on the Brazil goal” firstly it was an unbelievable goal and secondly that is utter sh-ite when you look at what he did in his Liverpool career....he was a brilliant player and scored and made a lot of great goals. Liverpool fans and ex players loved him.

He was PFA player of the year, Football writers player of the year x2 and made the PFA Division 1 team of the year 3 times. Thats before you even mention all the club honours he won.

But yep if it wasn't for that goal against Brazil noone would even remember him

Barnes International career only suffered because England were nowhere near as good as the Liverpool side he played in.

Remember watching on TV Barnes playing for Liverpool against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup semi final, played at Hillsborough if I recall correctly. He gave the full back, a Mr Brian Laws, a real chasing that day.
