One of those pointless ‘if you could choose’ questions
One of those pointless ‘if you could choose’ questions
Sunday’s game.
A 2-1 win giving us an 8th or 9th place finish above Arsenal, but Ederson probably wins the golden glove
Or
A 0-0 draw meaning we probably finish 10th behind Arsenal but Nick Pope gets at least a share of the golden glove
The choice is yours! (not really)

A 2-1 win - without a doubt. People seem to be getting far too carried away about an award, that whilst being a good personal achievement, is relatively meaningless.
I’m surprised this is even in question.

Since you get more cash for finishing higher up, it can only be the 2-1 win.
And I bet if you asked Nick Pope this question he'd choose the 2-1 win without a second of hesitation.

Re: One of those pointless ‘if you could choose’ questions
Win worth nearly £2 million to the club. Golden Glove worth probably much more to the club when they come to selling Pope. Therefore it is not just an individual award...
Re: One of those pointless ‘if you could choose’ questions
I know it’s a pointless question, but if I were given the two options and could guarantee one I’d take the 0-0. I just think that in future years I’m more likely to take pride in the Burnley keeper being crowned best in the country rather than us finishing 9th.

2-1 victory, and finishing above the Arsenal anytime, Nick's had a great campaign, and one game isn't going to change his value.

2-1 win and Nick Pope selected as England’s number one. £2m bonus to the club plus added value to the player.

Double posted.
Re: One of those pointless ‘if you could choose’ questions
2-1 victory. In the big scheme of things I think that higher position is more valuable. Not to mention, there's always next year Nick!

It is pointless we will finish 8th then we will bemoan City being able to afford better lawyer’s that EUFA for the rest of our lives
Nick will get the Golden Glove nailed on

Re: One of those pointless ‘if you could choose’ questions
Golden glove for me.
It will increase the squad mentality about winning things and belief they can.
It would be talked about for years to come, being the first keeper to win it outside of the big clubs.
Finishing above Arsenal would be great and the extra 2m but 9th to 8th isn't much to crow about.

I expect defeat.
Dyche doesn't seem to worry about pointless games. We've lost the last one in each of the last three seasons.

2-1 win for me. Never known or cared about the 'Golden Glove' before so reluctant to jump on that bandwagon because it's our keeper.
Pope's great and everyone knows it anyway.

2-1 win dohhhhhh obviously
But it ain't gonna happen 2-0 win and Nick gets the Glove and the "finishing above Arsnil" Bonus

Win for sure!
Hart won the golden glove multiple times. In reality it means nothing.
People on here saying win the golden glove wouldnt even pick the fa cup over a win on sunday

Golden Glove adding value to Pope
I’d love to hear that discussion.

Re: One of those pointless ‘if you could choose’ questions
Hart was a keeper with 75 caps for England and major honours. He won it because he was a good keeper in a good team. I’m sure Nick Pope doesn’t think it means nothing, the award is the mark of a special keeper.cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Thu Jul 23, 2020 9:36 amWin for sure!

Re: One of those pointless ‘if you could choose’ questions
As above Hart won the Golden glove numerous and was the worst goal keeper we have had at the club
I’m surprised anybody would want anything other than a win, when did we become happy with a 0v0 at home to Brighton? It’s not even about the money for me, I just want us to win every game we can

Easy - winning and finishing as high as possible.
Re: One of those pointless ‘if you could choose’ questions
There’s a definite lack of ‘romance’ on this thread.

not disputing that - i was a fan of hart pre and during burnley.
But vs Burnley finishing 8th and above Arsenal etc is bigger.

Re: One of those pointless ‘if you could choose’ questions
Really want to win the golden glove, as it is more of a reflection on how well we defend as a team, rather than just the goalie. Plus it will be there in the history books as an anomaly over the usual suspects.
However we can still finish above Arsenal, which would be both comedy gold and a great achievement.
And the swing of 4 million quid...
So if I had to choose, it's got to be the 2-1

Would be nice for Pope getting the GG but for me winning and finishing above the cheating Gooners wins hands down. To finish above that shower would just be the icing on a very nice cake, season wise.

Finish above Arsenal. If we achieve that, I will laugh my head off for two weeks solidly. Even in my sleep.

2-1 win. Difference between 10th and 8th is £4 million. That's good money for the club. Finishing above Arsenal would be terrific and the fact that David "anti football" Luiz plays for them is just the cherry on the cake.
As it happens, I think we'll win 1 or 2-0 anyway and Nick will get his deserved share of the Golden Glove.
