BBC 2 WC 66 Alfie's Boys

This has just started, and it's followed by a Jack Charlton documentary if anyone's interested, if you can't catch them tonight they'll probably be available on the Iplayer.

I caught some of it, will try and catch the rest on iplayer sometime. One thing that stood out was the training pitches England were using at that time, just looked like a random local park, Sunday league style pitches  A million miles away from what players enjoy these days.

Quite enjoyed that, although I wasn't all that interested in what Jason or all the wives and other women had to say.

I was about 13 at the time. I saw the semi-final live on Dutch TV but wasn't able to see the final as I was in some sort of sports camp ironically. I was told the result but in truth I didn't really care. I've never been excited by international football apart from the Dutch team of the 1970s because of the 'total football' they played.
