I was going to say roll on that fat prick retiring, but then he'll get a VAR gig, so we'll still not be rid of him.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Sussex by the Sea
You need luck, and we've had some on this run, but today all the little things went wrong.
Their worldy.
Jays penna.
Ball maybe out of play
Kev Long caught wrong side
JBG on the keeper
Sad end to a great season, so no complaints from me
UTC bring on next season

VAR is still crap, Moss is even more crap and we could do with a couple of quality midfielders for next season.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Sussex by the Sea
Too many players weren't up for the fight
Poor use of subs again and with Jon Moss determined to win it for Brighton it was always a big ask
Stonewall penalty disallowed and a good goal chalked off

Another successful season over with, and another one to look forward to! Well done to all the players, it’s been a slog since the re start

Brilliant season considering we were struggling around Xmas time, then COVID hit, players left the club, and all the injury problems.Lads can hold their heads high.
Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Sussex by the Sea
Very disappointing display. Back to being poor with the ball and playing percentage football when I'd hoped we were refining our style somewhat.
Can't complain at the final league position though.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Sussex by the Sea
Villa stayed up due to that disallowed Sheff Utd goal, if that had stood as it should, they'd have been below Bournemouth on GD, talk about a get out of jail free card.
Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Sussex by the Sea
Wouldn’t blame Moss for our lacklustre performance
Think we were outsmarted and maybe Vydra should have started
A 15 min cameo role not expected to produce much
So no golden glove no 8 th slot and behind Arsenal again
Great chance lost Mr Dyche as we finally ran out of steam but what a last 16 game run of two defeats 8 wins and 6 draws

I thought he was impeding the keeper. He might not even have been fouling him but he doesn’t need to foul him to be interfering with the goalie’s ability to get to the ball.superdimitri wrote: ↑Sun Jul 26, 2020 5:30 pmWas he really 'interfering' with play? He stood his ground. He didn't foul or anything.

There is no way Ryan was stopping that header. Bit of a sickener, esp as I thought we should have had a penalty. That's a penalty at for the home team at Anfield, OT or Highbury every day.

Really? I thought it was £2m per place? Lost two places so £4m?
I know everyone will say good season but **** me. A nailed on pen disallowed at 0-0 and I didn’t see a thing wrong with J Rods goal. Are you not allowed to stand near a keeper now. That cost us a lot of money... hope Dyche calls it out.

Re: Today's Lineup
JBG wasn’t fouling the keeper but he was interfering with his ability to make a save from an offside position. So correct but pedantic as Ryan wouldn’t have saved that with 10ft arms. He is on one post the ball went in off the other.
Moss was a disgrace. Didn’t give us anything all day for fouls in the back but pulled up Chris Wood, at the death for exactly that. The FK against Brady, where the Brighton lad just kept backing into him until he went down, should have been a FK to us for obstruction. The ball ended up miles away they had backed so far.
Bit flat the last two games but they’ve given us a joyous ride and earned their breather.

Re: Today's Lineup
The last game of the season was ruined for me not because we lost,it was my stream the only one I could find was Bein Sports 12 ..Ian Dowie commentating went on about the Royal Dyche pub and the shite Burnley weather in the summer it kept freezing up and then ten minutes from the end the Chelsea v Man - Utd semi final from last week came on....not the greatest 90 minutes I've ever spent watching the mighty clarets

3.2m per place now that the overseas TV money is distributed by finishing place.NewClaret wrote: ↑Sun Jul 26, 2020 6:23 pmReally? I thought it was £2m per place? Lost two places so £4m?

Or you could look at it based on we finished 10th - 7 places above what we will have budgeted for

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Sussex by the Sea
I don’t - just feel frustrated at the ham fisted way the PL is using it. But today’s decision was correct. Even if the keeper wasn’t going to save it, JBG was clearly obstructing him. If he was attempting to get onside, then fair enough, but he wasn’t.WazzaClaret wrote: ↑Sun Jul 26, 2020 5:59 pmSIck of VAR. You can’t trash a thing just because because it works against us. Remember Bournemouth?

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Sussex by the Sea
It's more the inconsistencies I was referring to mate. That foul would have been given to the big clubs and we all know it. One thing I will say rather VAR in the prem than championship withoutscouseclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jul 26, 2020 7:45 pmI don’t - just feel frustrated at the ham fisted way the PL is using it. The reason JBG couldn’t get onside was because the goalkeeper was fouling him. No such thing as obstruction in any case.scouseclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jul 26, 2020 7:45 pmI don’t - just feel frustrated at the ham fisted way the PL is using it. But today’s decision was correct. We were screwed from the time the Todays Lineup thread was merged with the match day thread... ‘twas jinxed I tell thee (and I said it at the time too)

Re: Today's Lineup
I did say I wasn't going to create the match thread as we lose. And I didn't put a Burnley top on and take it back off prior to kickoff.
So it was a double whammy.
