Re: Swansea City v Brentford
Sian has something like 99.9% accuracy in all her decision making. A seriously good Assistant Referee. I do know how hard she works at it as well.ZizkovClaret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 7:59 pmWas nice to have Mick McCarthy backing up Sian Massey's offside call. She is as he said a very good lino, and its one in the eye for the neanderthals to have MM back her up

Re: Swansea City v Brentford
For the first goal, nobody commented on the referee playing an advantage. Turned out to be an absolute blinder.
That said anyone refereeing I would NOT RECOMEND they try playing advantage from this area of the field.
This might sound strange but this one was played bc of skill factor involved and the keeper had the ball in his hands and trying to set up a counter.
Most clubs that anyone on here including myself might referee will never have that speed or skill and is a very high risk advantage to play. Give the free kick. It is a much safer option.

Brentford on course for Wembley, looks like a West London derby is on the cards. They've been impressive tonight i have to say.

Really enjoying this match. Brilliant stuff from Brentford.
Is the main commentator Don Goodman? Whoever it is, I think he's excellent.

Watkins is seriously rapid. A recently converted winger I believe. Would be interesting to see how he'd fare in the PL.

Brentford centre back might win MOM for Swansea.
If they get back into it he'll be deep in the doo-doo.

Decent game to watch and the officials were spot on --without any hint of VAR! Football as it should be.

I thought Gallagher for Swansea was excellent in a losing game.
Just our sort of midfielder.
Get back in for him Sean.

Spot on NottsClaret - and remember Watkins, until this season, had no real goalscoring record to write home about. 13 once in League Two and a seasons best of 10 in the Championship.NottsClaret wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 7:04 amFinding players who can get us to 10th in the Premier League?

Only 24 though, but I can see where you're coming from. Until this season I thought he was a bit of a 'meh' player. Still, there's the possibility that he's coming into his prime.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 9:58 amSpot on NottsClaret - and remember Watkins, until this season, had no real goalscoring record to write home about. 13 once in League Two and a seasons best of 10 in the Championship.
A risk for us though, as not convinced he's better than what we have.

I was responding to the daft comment asking what our scouts had been doing, presumably not signing a player with no real record in the Football League until this season while we moved into the top half of the Premier League.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 10:08 amOnly 24 though, but I can see where you're coming from. Daft comment ? he cost £1m, next you'll be telling me that we can't afford that while spunking £3m plus wages on Walters.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 10:23 amI was responding to the daft comment asking what our scouts had been doing, presumably not signing a player with no real record in the Football League until this season while we moved into the top half of the Premier League.

Point I was trying to make is there was no suggestion at all that he was a potential Premier League striker so to query our scouts is what I said, a daft comment.claretandy wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 1:18 pmDaft comment ? he cost £1m, next you'll be telling me that we can't afford that while spunking £3m plus wages on Walters.

Re: Swansea City v Brentford
You could say the same when they paid peanuts for Andre or Maupay, if we can't afford Watkins after 1 good season in the Championship then we are going to have to try and pick them up before they move to the Championship.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 1:30 pmPoint I was trying to make is there was no suggestion at all that he was a potential Premier League striker so to query our scouts is what I said, a daft comment.

That’s it. He’s had one good season. Who says we can’t afford him? What would Brentford want?claretandy wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 1:38 pmif we can't afford Watkins after 1 good season in the Championship
Re: Swansea City v Brentford
Young players who've scored a few in the leagues below are exactly the type we should be looking at. Sean Dyche rightly points out that we can't afford the finished article so if we're waiting for younger players to have outstanding seasons then we'll most probably be priced out should we choose to make a move.

Yes, because of the ludicrous figures being mentioned. You were the one who criticised the scouting that has got us a squad that’s finished tenth in the Premier League.claretandy wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 1:45 pmIt was you who agreed we had zero chance of signing him.

Re: Swansea City v Brentford
Brentford's football cousin is Orient, I think. They ruined the architectural footprint of the stadium with housing as a complete statement of a failed club. if you're selling off real estate, it's over.
Beckham could have spent his money there...
Brentford's new ground is sad because they've got the colours of the seats wrong. It's a design copy of the seating at SC Beira Mar's ground for Euro 2004 (Aviero Municipal), where the seats are painted in different colours to mimic a full stadium of people, almost in ironic anticipation of the Covid-19 end-of-season cardboard supporters filling some gaps.
It's a gesture of failure.
I can't comprehend how the marketing dept. have got that wrong.
If they'd gone for dark red seats with OXO box type styling, it would look better, but hip-stylie Watford went down... So much for style.
... And the pubs should have been moved to the new ground like the pubs they moved in Manchester after the bomb.
Still... I hope they get promoted.
