Dwight McNeil

Post by cricketfieldclarets » Mon Jul 27, 2020 9:22 am

Started every single game. 20 years old (19 at the start of the season). One of only 6 players ever to do so under the age of 21!

Some great efforts from all of our players this season, particularly Pope with his clean sheets and Wood with his number of goals.

But that's an incredible stat for a player to play such an important role and take on so much responsibility at his age!

Managed the difficult second season really well. Gained strength and stamina plus upped his defensive game whilst maintaining his threat.

Not surprisingly he's looked shattered the last few games, most seasoned pros have struggled with the recent workload, and most will have been well rested too.

How many times was he subbed? I suspect not many, must be close to playing every minute.

Been below par recently so needs competition on the wings - we need 2 new wide players added to the squad

Just one wide player needed as the last time I looked Lowton had developed into a wide player since lockdown

Hopefully we'll keep him but if someone like Grealish or Maddison (unlikely after signing his new contract) goes to one of the big six for mega bucks then could see Villa or Leicester getting Dwight as a replacement

Looked a bit burnt out late season . He’s no world beater ,but very much a talented work in progress . If he starts to score regular goals he’s gonna bloom no end ,hopefully we get a cracking season from him and a equally cracking price

I think we will manage to hold on for one more season - his lack of goals just about keeping him fully out of the limelight/being linked with everyone in the league.

Fantastic player though, we're so lucky to enjoy watching his development.
