I am sooo lucky !
I am sooo lucky !
I watched yesterdays match and afterwards I felt so disappointed and hating VAR even more, I then looked at my position in Ralphs Spot the Ball and was equally disappointed.
I read the news this morning and am glad I don't live in Texas. it is a Covid 19 hotspot, there are BLM angry protests and one was shot dead by a civilian yesterday and on top of it all they've just had Hurricane Hanna.
I then read about the UK economy, people out of work, businesses going bust, airlines struggling etc. and Labour complaining that the government aren't providing enough financial support to everyone and everything.
I then read about how Covid 19 is spreading in the likes of Brazil, Colombia, India etc., the possibilty of a second wave worse then the first and the wetlands fires in Brazil which have tripled due to criminals starting them.
I live on a small island which is Covid 19 free and virtually back to normal, I am financially secure, in fact both our pensions increased in April. We're spending less money and I can play bowls again. I can even go on holiday to Guernsey which is also Covid free if I felt the need.
I thought, if VAR and Spot the Ball are all I have to worry about then I am a very lucky man.
So a big thankyou to Tony and admin for keeping this board up and running during very difficut times, another thankyou to Ralph for Spot the Ball and finally a thankyou to all the posters on this board for making it interesting.
STAY SAFE everyone, we all need each other in these times, even those we disagree with on here

I was going to report this post because you haven't given anybody anything to whinge or moan or argue about, but instead I liked it.

I lived and worked there for almost four years in the early 90's. Lovely place, but does take some getting used to if you can't get off the island occasionally. Would probably still be there if the job had been a longer term position.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2020 12:22 pmHad a job offer there a few years ago and didn’t take it, now considering it again, offered me a good relocation package and I do really love the place

Wow Fraggle Rock shaming on UTC
https://muppet.fandom.com/wiki/Fraggle_Rock_(UK)
Fraggle Rock was located on a rock headland or island at a sea coast (actually called Fraggle Rock in the show). There is a lighthouse on the island. The lighthouse was the home of the Captain, a retired sailor and the UK version of the Doc character, played by Fulton MacKay.

Re: I am sooo lucky !
Many apologies, I’ll thrash myself with birch twigs while repeating out loud “Fraggle Rock is not an Island it’s a f*cking peninuslar” (sic) (whatever one of those is).

Re: I am sooo lucky !
It's quite clearly a rock headland and NOT an island because how else can Uncle Travelling Matt cross in outerspace to visit the "human creatures"?Bosscat wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2020 1:25 pmWow Fraggle Rock shaming on UTC

Read the Fraggle Rock fandom page
It clearly states Island as well as Rocky headland ... perhaps its a Rocky Headland on an Island
But its definitely not a Peninuslar (whatever a Peninuslar is )

No.
No no no no no.
I'm not having it.
It makes no sense for it to be an island.
If Fraggle Rock makes no sense then nothing makes sense and life is but a futile howl in the dark.
I refuse to accept it.

Re: I am sooo lucky !
Wrong..... Fraggle Rock was actually a place that went by the name of The Circulation in the late 80's. Lots of strange goings on I seem to remember. A pint with a chicken in a basket with lewd acts a plenty and if you got lucky no fight.

Ronaldsway, swagelok, Strik, Triump, Manx engineering?
Yeah, In a strange way the manager talked me out of it in the interview by saying I’d struggle to adapt, then offered me the job, was bizarre. Love the island though

Re: I am sooo lucky !
None of the above. I worked in retail and managed the Safeway Store in Douglas and oversaw the smaller one in Ramsey. I was then moved to a larger store in St Helens. I believe the store in Douglas became a Shoprite (Manx Company) but is now closed, on Chester Street in Douglas with a car park above. I also enjoyed the tax rates in the IoM.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2020 7:46 pmRonaldsway, swagelok, Strik, Triump, Manx engineering?

Very fortunate even tho very frustrating at not being able to get across.......

You can always watch Isle of Man FC Jimmymaccer. I believe they have been admitted in the North West Counties League SOUTH division ?
Ps. Never been to the Isle of Man, its about time I did.

Re: I am sooo lucky !
I am sooo lucky. I won UTC fantasy Premier League manager of the month for August. As I said to CT earlier, I always look at each week and swap players in and out of the team and squad and had done a bit of sorting before the restart but then forgot about doing anything else since. Maybe I should take the Sean Dyche approach and not fiddle around with my team selections every week!

Re: I am sooo lucky !
I was stationed on the Island for a year back in the mid 90s when I was Officer in Charge of the bombing range at RAF Jurby Head. I didn’t really want to go over there but at the end I didn’t want to leave. I could, effectively, do what I wanted when I wanted,q and the company paid for regular trips across to the mother country in my staff car so I could visit other RAF bases. Lots of beer was drunk and lots of golf was played with lots of good mates. Happy days, before budgets and accountability f*cked everything up
