Dean Marney hasn't been at Fleetwood since January 2019, that's 18 months ago. He was still under contract though until now.

Re: Matt Gilks and Dean Marney
When we played them a year ago in pre-season I was expecting him playing but then I read a piece from Joey who said he’d not come back for pre-season and they hadn’t seen him since January.
His last game was against Wimbledon (cup I think) and he was sarcastically cheered when he was substituted, something Joey spoke about. That was it, he left and didn’t ever go back. I read a while ago in the Blackpool paper that he sadly had mental health problems although never seen anything else in that respect.

Found something here

This is the bit
Marney has not been seen for some time on the Fylde coast, citing mental health problems, and his time at Town will end.

Very sad to hear that about Marney.
Gilks has had a strange career. I thought he looked a good keeper at Blackpool. He’s hardly played since apart from a spell at Scunthorpe.

Sad to hear that about Dean, a real warrior for us.
I hope he gets the support he needs and is back to full health soon.

Re: Matt Gilks and Dean Marney
It is sad - so many of our former players now have admitted to mental health issues - Alan Moore, Clarke Carlisle, Keith Treacy, Marvin Sordell and Michael Keane, now Dean Marney.Bordeauxclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2020 7:57 pmVery sad to hear that about Marney.
