It’s going to be a scorcher
It’s going to be a scorcher
How are you going to spend the hottest day of the year so far today?
Work for me and I’m not looking forward to it. Why couldn’t the powers that be delay today until tomorrow when I’m off.

Re: It’s going to be a scorcher
Been up to 33c here most of the week. My balcony has been out of bounds as it gets direct sunlight
WFH so got my patented 2 fan solution going a treat here. One drawing in cool air from the walkway through an open window, then fan number 2 spreading said cool air around.

Just back from the morning dog walk the beach nice and empty.
The day ahead will be spent in the garden with a BBQ, drinks, racing at Goodwood and then some more drinks. Today's work can wait til next week.

Global hasn't yet reached the Isle of Man. It's been damp, cold and miserable here for weeks

Re: It’s going to be a scorcher
We had a day like this last year when the temperatures soared well into the thirties and then it dropped dramatically again - very strange. I won't be taking too much advantage of it unfortunately but I might spend half an hour with the next door neighbour well socially distanced in her garden.

Re: It’s going to be a scorcher
Not a lot to be honest. Have my first born due anytime now so that restricts us a bit. I'm glad she isn't here already though because it's our first summer in our place and with it being south facing it gets unbearably hot at night having had the sun all day long. Hopefully will be less of an issue next year as we are saving for an air conditioning unit.

Supposed to happen again. 31c+ here today and then back down to around 20 tomorrow, which to be fair, is a much better temperature for walking in.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2020 9:39 amWe had a day like this last year when the temperatures soared well into the thirties and then it dropped dramatically again

Re: It’s going to be a scorcher
I was working in a brewery at the time and one of the jobs was to dig the malt out of the huge container while it was still red hot. Anyone who has done that can tell you that it's brilliant in winter but on that day last summer it was unbearable.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2020 9:39 amWe had a day like this last year when the temperatures soared well into the thirties and then it dropped dramatically again - very strange. Just completed a 25K bike ride around Pendle villages. Beautiful journey but a bit hot and knackered now.
Re: It’s going to be a scorcher
Getting on the bike might head towards Ribble Valley depending on temperature what route I will take.

Is that about 1 hour of cycling or is that if it's just on the roads?Cirrus_Minor wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2020 10:09 amJust completed a 25K bike ride around Pendle villages. Beautiful journey but a bit hot and knackered now.
Re: It’s going to be a scorcher
I'm strange in that I just can't tolerate temperatures when they rise anything much above 20 really, it makes me feel so uncomfortable and irritable. So I'll be remaining indoors today doing a bit of work and waiting it out until tomorrow when it will be a much better day for me.

I am indoors with the curtains closed and a fan going. Extremely hot weather makes me uncomfortable and unhappy.

It's been surprisingly warm in Glasgow today, but we've experienced sharp showers this evening, and we also got a brief burst of thunder & lightning.
Much fresher tomorrow thankfully.

Really nice chilled out night sat outside with fire pit burning and a good few beers with wife and youngest son. Bliss.
Re: It’s going to be a scorcher
Don't know what happened with the forecast here yesterday. Rained 'til about 9.30am, spots of rain around 2.30pm and was decidedly dark and overcast until about 8pm. So much for wall to wall sunshine as was forecast.

Spent the last 2 days at the daughters where it was only 98f. They’re higher up at 6000ft above sea level. Down here in the desert lands (4000ft asl) it was 104f when I got home

Re: It’s going to be a scorcher
I can’t think how this forecast was worked out? I’m in Bournemouth and it wasn’t that hot at all. Thousands poured down here from wherever. The roads were gridlocked, the beaches were packed and the sky just clouded over around 1pm and so they all just left the beach and went home. What a waste of time. Today was a much nicer day with clear skies and not nearly so many people about.
