Domestic cricket season commences today.

Looking like Lancashire are relying on Vilas again to get them out of a bit of a hole.

Re: Domestic cricket season commences today.
Yep same old with Lancs, Davies scored a good 50, but Lancs really needed him to go on, meanwhile Hameed scored his 2nd fifty of the match for Notts. Good to finally see him coming good, but sadly not in a Lancs shirt.
A slender lead for Lancashire, and they'll need a couple of decent partnerships to get out of trouble, but the pitch should be decent enough for batting, so there's no reason why the Red Rose can't at least salvage a draw from this game.
Re: Domestic cricket season commences today.
Lancs heading for the draw but with Yorkshire winning and only 4 games to go it's already a tough ask
Not sure why Onions and Luke Wood weren't playing instead of the youth team

Tough ask for Lancs to reach the semi finals already, an even more thrilling win for Derbyshire who chased down 365 with a ball to spare to beat Notts.
Essex just squeezing over the line, after chef scored runs earlier. This format's good i like it, encourages teams to go for the win, and ensures games don't just drift to tame draws on the last day.

Top 2 teams with most points from the 3 groups play a 5 day final

Yes i knew about the 5 day final, doubt Lancashire will be playing in it anyway. Especially if only 2 qualify. I guess it makes sense in a shortened season to condense the calendar, a final in early October could be interesting weather wise, and it could well be rather chilly in early Autumn, that must be the latest a cricket match has ever taken place in the UK.
Re: Domestic cricket season commences today.
Bad light will certainly be an issue late in the day I think that's why the 5 days are in play
Re: Domestic cricket season commences today.
They play that much 20/20 cricket these days that target was always very gettable for Leicestershire. Having said that Lancashires team looked pretty weak, though I'm guessing Livingston, Parkinson and Mahmood will be able to play in the next game now the ODI's are over?

Not sure but they'll certainly strengthen Lancashire in both batting and bowling departments if they're available.jrgbfc wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 8:33 pmThey play that much 20/20 cricket these days that target was always very gettable for Leicestershire. Yeah I noticed Onions wasn't playing. Maybe they've decided to use these games to give some youngsters a chance, seeing as there's no risk of relegation?
