FA Cup Final thread
no-one started this yet, it's great that the final is in it's rightful place as the final domestic fixture in the calendar, hopefully this will continue next year and beyond, it's ridiculous that it's often been sandwiched between PL games. or played before the league campaign has finished.
I fancy Arsenal today don't know why but i just do, they seem to raise their game against the bigger sides, and Aubameyang is always a threat as he showed in the semi final, and Chelsea are incredibly inconsistent, you never know what you're going to get from them, and neither does Frank.

I'm going 2-1 Arsenal, although the game isn't really filling me with excitement, so will more than likely just have it on in the background.

Not even sure I’ll watch it but Chelsea usually get the rub of any luck that’s going and come out on top.

Re: FA Cup Final thread
Both defences not great, though Arsenal played superbly against City in the semi final. Hoping for goals and no doubt Luiz to get sent off, give away a penalty and Giroud to score.

Re: FA Cup Final thread
I wonder if they will both field a second eleven. The FA cup holds no attraction for me especially with two horrible southern clubs in the final, after it's been devalued year after year. I'm off for a good Schite now..
Re: FA Cup Final thread
I'd be very surprised if both don't play their strongest eleven. They will be desperate to win. Also a win would be a big achievement for either young manager. I think Chelsea will win.conyoviejo wrote: ↑Sat Aug 01, 2020 4:02 pmI wonder if they will both field a second eleven. i think Arsenal need to win to get into Europe next season. I would have thought s club like Arsenal would see missing out on Europe as a bit of a disgrace.

Re: FA Cup Final thread
They do that's one of the reasons i fancy them, for Chelsea although they'll want to win, the main aim for them has been achieved by finishing top 4, so you wonder if they'll be lacking in intensity, whereas for Arsenal if they win today it'll rescue their disappointing season, and as you rightly state it will also give them European football next season, even if it is the EL.Conroysleftfoot wrote: ↑Sat Aug 01, 2020 4:16 pmi think Arsenal need to win to get into Europe next season. Re: FA Cup Final thread
To be fair you would have said the same last season was it? In Europa League Final, winner got Champions League which Arsenal needed after Chelsea already finished in top 4, and Chelsea won 4-1.tiger76 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 01, 2020 4:20 pmThey do that's one of the reasons i fancy them, for Chelsea although they'll want to win, the main aim for them has been achieved by finishing top 4, so you wonder if they'll be lacking in intensity, whereas for Arsenal if they win today it'll rescue their disappointing season, and as you rightly state it will also give them European football next season, even if it is the EL.

Not sure, but definitely at least one of James, Mount, Abraham, Holding or Saka will start.winsomeyen wrote: ↑Sat Aug 01, 2020 4:14 pmCould history be made today if no English born player starts the game ?

What makes you think no English born players will start the game, both teams fielded English players in their semi-final line-up's, and each had plenty on the bench.winsomeyen wrote: ↑Sat Aug 01, 2020 4:14 pmCould history be made today if no English born player starts the game ?

Re: FA Cup Final thread
That's true, but that Chelsea had an inspired Eden Hazard, who effectively won the game single-handedly, and this is a different Arsenal team under Arteta, they seem to have rediscovered their inner steel if the victory over City is anything to go by.claretburns wrote: ↑Sat Aug 01, 2020 4:27 pmTo be fair you would have said the same last season was it? Won't Frank want an honour to his name and purely on history the FA Cup is a big one?

True, I agree with you, I think Arsenal will nick it after extra time, I just hope for it to be half entertaining and not a snore-fest.

Re: FA Cup Final thread
Well both defences are ropey, so you'd expect goals, and i'm not sure either team is really set up to defend, so i'll be if it's a 0-0, but in football you just never know.claretburns wrote: ↑Sat Aug 01, 2020 5:13 pmTrue, I agree with you, I think Arsenal will nick it after extra time, I just hope for it to be half entertaining and not a snore-fest.
Re: FA Cup Final thread
When Arsenal have players like Rob Holding in defence you know it'll be a long time before they start challenging the top four again.

Lampard will join a fairly elite group FA Cup winner as player and manager if Chelsea win.
Edit - as would Arteta!

Re: FA Cup Final thread
I'm hoping for a 6-5 to someone, both teams get reduced to 8 men with their best players getting sent off for violent conduct, we then play Arsenal and Chelsea in the first 2 games next season with them all banned !

1-0 Chelsea Pulisic, it's a frenetic start i somehow doubt that'll be the only goal.

The font on the Arse shirt is horrible. I'm calling it Medieval Banquet, the missus German Reich.

The grass must be pretty long at Wembley, Arsenal players do seem to be having problems keeping on their feet.
Re: FA Cup Final thread
If only SD would take the FA Cup seriously....who knows how far we could go. We would give these two a game. I think we've done many threads on that subject though.

Re: FA Cup Final thread
Well we've had 2 hidings off Chelsea this season, but we've run Arsenal close at the Emirates, and we took a point off them at TM, and probably should have won that game, i agree we should treat the FA Cup more seriously, but it's always going to be down our list of priorities rightly or wrongly.
