I didn’t know that Des Taylor that he brought here to head the scouting but I note that he’s thanked him and Andy Howe who I am guessing could be his brother.dandeclaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 01, 2020 10:05 pmScouts find good players, coaches improve players, managers win games.....

As for improving players at one point in the Premier League half of Howes team had been with him since League one

Re: Eddie gone
They had a poor last season but before that he won them 3 promotions and kept them up in the PL for 4 years. He and Dyche go about their business differently but he had huge success doing it his way down there. They were relegated but I dare say we could very well be in that position this time next year.dandeclaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 01, 2020 10:14 pmNo..... that’s why they got relegated, having spunked 10’s of millions on style over substance players from big clubs, and failing to even maintain their standards.
You obviously don't like the man for one reason or another, but he really has been their best ever manager. You can't really ask for much more than that from your manager.

I'm not 100% sure Dyche improved Trippier that much. He made him stay back and defend a lot more meaning he defended better, but it took a lot away from his going forward.
Was he not at his best crossing for Austin when he scored the fastest ever 20 goals for the club? I know it's opinions.

It's a shame when any manager gets sacked, especially a former Burnley manager.
Eddie wasn't a brilliant manager but he wasn't also a bad manager. There's 3 every year to get relegated.
His next move will be interesting.

They got badly hit with injuries this season and that tipped the balance.

As for Howe I’m sure when he looks back at his career he’ll be able to reflect on a job well done at that club.
Few journos claiming he has a job lined up. I’d be surprised. Perhaps Palace?

They certainly ran out of luck, I'll give you that one, but that open and expansive style is his way and it worked for him in 9/10 of his seasons.dandeclaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 01, 2020 10:21 pmThey’ve conceded over 60 goals for 5 consecutive seasons. Being relegated doesn't make you a bad manager and negate all of your previously outstanding work. A certain Sean Dyche can attest to that.

Re: Eddie gone
Why would PL clubs be interested in Eddie, he's a one trick pony, who's been found out this season, he hasn't shown he can adapt his style, and his transfer dealings in the past 2 seasons have a lot of marks, and he's ultimately looked bereft of motivating his squad when the going got tough.Danieljwaterhouse wrote: ↑Sat Aug 01, 2020 10:16 pmTotally agree, club can’t sack a legend, so they all agree to a mutual consent. Like it or not if you can't organise a defence you're going to struggle to keep a team in the PL, and they've leaked 60 goals+ for the last 5 seasons, eventually that was going to catch up with them, and this season has been that time.
Eddie was great at spotting a player for us, and he left Sean a decent legacy to inherit, but his management development is still debatable, and he left Burnley when we were in the bottom 3 of the Championship, despite Charlie Austin bagging regularly, and the amount of times we threw away a lead that season was unbelievable, and that lack of resilience is why Bournemouth went down.

I’d consider Howe a good manager after everything he’s achieved at Bournemouth. His approach to the game isn’t my cup of tea and unforced defensive errors really wind me up but by and large his style of football has been successful for him.

Some people really need to get a grip, he left years ago yet some people are still bitter in the same way they are with Coyle. It’s weird (I’d understand if we were bottom of Division 17, but were not).

One thing that ought to be considered when weighing up Howe’s achievements at Bournemouth was that when they were promoted in 2015 they infringed the FFP rules and later paid a £4.75m fine.
