The problem for players like Brooks and McNeil is that to get the best out of the them you need supporting players who are up to the task. We've got Charlie Taylor who is perfect in that respect.

Spot on they spent bucket-loads last summer, and they stayed up by a point, and even that point was fortunate, and they were 19 points adrift of our total, now they could improve next season, but given the strong likelihood of their best player leaving the building, and the swift turnaround, i wouldn't bank on it. And as you rightly suggest if they're anywhere near the bottom 3 after the first few games, Dean Smith will likely get potted, and another man will have to go in and work with Smith's signings, you'd have thought clubs would have learnt from the Watford debacle, but seemingly not.

For the outlay last summer you'd expect more than 35 points and 17th place, and that's why the pressure is ramping up on DS and Villa to get off to a decent start next season, if they don't the knives will be sharpening.

Villa spent a lot of money in an attempt to stay up and in doing so will earn a lot more money than they spent. We didnt risk spending a lot of money and we got relegated and had to rely on getting back up the next season.

Villa might have taken a much bigger risk and we may not have had a choice to do it any other way than the way we did but Villa's first season after promotion has been more of a success than our first season was

You forget to include more dives than Tom Daley, and his constant whining at the officials. He looks good in a rank rotten Villa team, but whether he can make the step up to a top 6 side i have my doubts.

It was disallowed for offside...and he was..by an inch or so. So technically it was the correct call even if it is ridiculous because of VAR.

This really is the oddest description I've ever seen given of a footballer. I've never known a football fan to observe the size and tightness of a footballer's bum and the sexuality of his skip.
