I was going to say that - you’re only a few birthdays off freedom mate
With any luck your wife is 65 - she’ll have to stay indoors while you’re out living it up

Agree everyone that takes advantage should also make a donation to a food bank/other charities. I will be doing.2 Bee Holed wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 11:09 pmCan some of you who have enjoyed your £10 from the taxpayer

Re: Who's eating out to help out?
Presumably there are also a lot of people who couldn’t afford to eat out who now can.2 Bee Holed wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 11:09 pmCan some of you who have enjoyed your £10 from the taxpayer

And as mentioned above, the scheme hasn’t been put in place to benefit the diner but to stimulate business within the food and drink industry.

Why should people do what you choose to do with their money?

Whether that’s the intention or not that’s what will inadvertently happen, you could even legitimately argue the consumer will benefit the greatest if additional spends are restricted.

Re: Who's eating out to help out?
Lets all stay in.. f**k all those who are employed in the hospitality trade. Let all restaurants, pubs and hotels go bust and 1000s of people lose their jobs then we can all sit indoors until we die.
Bring back the footy and losing at home in the cup least the whinging after that is funny and not tiresome.

Most full time staff in hospitality are salary based. All this scheme will do for them is work more unpaid hours.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 05, 2020 7:55 amLets all stay in.. f**k all those who are employed in the hospitality trade. Re: Who's eating out to help out?
What % of staff do you think are full time ? For the ones on a salary who feel like they don't want to do some work after months off while getting 80% of their salary perhaps they could give some of that back and stay closed, until next month when this offer ends which is end of this month. Imagine asking salary staff in the hospitality industry to work Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.
Re: Who's eating out to help out?
Not sure on % for certain. But a lot are. Basically it’s because their working hours can’t be set in stone. It depends on customers demands. They can’t coms back the next day to finish the job, it mist be done there and then. That’s why a lot are salary based. Working Monday - Wednesday is basically them working their weekends due to the actual weekend being the busiest time in the industry and when they’ll work their hours.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 05, 2020 9:48 amWhat % of staff do you think are full time ? Re: Who's eating out to help out?
I would imagine a far higher % of staff aren't on a salary. Maybe the head chef and manager of a restaurant but most others will be on an hourly rate. Pubs and hotels will be similar I bet.Dyched wrote: ↑Wed Aug 05, 2020 10:32 amNot sure on % for certain. But a lot are. Basically it’s because their working hours can’t be set in stone. Re: Who's eating out to help out?
My daughter has worked in the hospitality industry for the last 8 years and she says that the only people on contracts are the management.
The hospitality sector is hard graft and long hours, she can regularly start her shift at 10am and not finish until midnight without even a break

Some of the places that have had to close recently will still be charged rent for their site as well, another cost this scheme can help with.Top Claret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 05, 2020 1:03 pmMy daughter has worked in the hospitality industry for the last 8 years and she says that the only people on contracts are the management.

Re: Who's eating out to help out?
interesting looking at Sweden from the economic point of view and how much better they have come out of this, while other countries have certain stimulus packages and this scheme is definitely good along with the furlough when measured against a lot of other countries.Billy Balfour wrote: ↑Mon Aug 03, 2020 4:22 pmA comparison of Denmark, which had a firm lockdown, with Sweden,
with its notoriously light-touch approach. Aggregate spending dropped 29 per cent in Denmark and 25 per cent in Sweden.
These stats are a week old, but Sweden are/were in the top 5 regarding Corona deaths as a proportion of the population.
1) Belgium (86/100,000)
2) UK (68/100,000)
3) Spain (61/100,000)
4) Italy (58/100,000)
5) Sweden (55/100,000)
https://www.bbc.com/news/business-53664354
The scheme is clearly aimed at getting the economy firing again, where it is confidence and spending by the public that drives the upturn. They want businesses back working/selling, in this case the food/restaurant/alcohol etc were the want to increase customers such that the businesses like cafes/restaurants see an upturn in customers, they in turn have to go to suppliers and so the supply benefits.

People still need to eat and places often have offers on during the week but weekends are still the busiest.ZizkovClaret wrote: ↑Thu Aug 06, 2020 1:16 pmWondering how busy places will be today through this weekend when the offer isnt applying
But driving past a few places last night there seemed to be a lot of places busy, which is great news.

Re: Who's eating out to help out?
Exactly! People eat out at weekends anyway but if the type that eat out regularly also decide to eat out an extra day Monday-Wednesday and put more custom the restaurants way then everyone’s a winner.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Thu Aug 06, 2020 1:43 pmPeople still need to eat and places often have offers on during the week but weekends are still the busiest.
