Re: Brentford vs Fulham (the richest game in football)
Weren't some on here suggesting we should sign Raya as Pope's replacement, i think that argument's been put to bed after that howler.
How many chances of promotion do Brentford need, the cocked it up in the regular season, and now they're blowing it in the playoffs.
Bunch of bottlers.

Great finish. I’m pleased for Scott Parker. Good to see a young English manager in the Premier League.

Nope, it was far more action packed than this.
We should have had 3 on the day, these 2 didnt manage 3 meaningful shots never mind goal scoring chances.

Would have preferred Brentford to win.
Can't see Fulham being as bad as last time.

Fulham is kind of a zero rating for us - win at home, lose away.

Pleased to see Fulham back up. I like their style and I like Scott Parker as their manager.

Was looking forward to seeing what the fuss was about with Brentford. Very disappointed in them.
Fulham are such a non event but deserved their win tonight. Bryan’s free kick was very Robbie Blake like.

Re: Brentford vs Fulham (the richest game in football)
Well at least the last 15 minutes was exciting, well done to Fulham and especially Scott Parker, always admired him as a player, and now he's showing he's capable of stepping up to the managerial lark.
And crucially for them they've bounced back immediately, which isn't easy to achieve, how they'll fare next season is tough to say, but they should be better prepared after their bruising experience a last season, and you'd imagine Parker will have them well-drilled, and possibly harder to beat, that always gives you a chance, and Mitrovic has shown he can bag at PL level.
For Brentford so close and yet so far, you have to fear that their talented young squad will be raided in this window, and they could well face another rebuilding process.
Staggering fact about their play off record from the Beeb.
Brentford fans, I really feel sorry for you this evening, that is the ninth attempt at the play-offs including four finals and they have lost them all, they'll know it's slipped through their hands.
That's an amazing failure rate in the playoffs you'd think purely by the law of averages they'd win 1 or 2 at least, but to come up fruitless out of 9 attempts, including 4 finals suggests a mentality problem in getting over the line.

With the exception of Leeds, it has looked a very underwhelming Championship this season. Tonights game make Norwich look good

How can it be a mentality problem when it hasn't been the same players or backroom staff for their nine attempts?tiger76 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 10:42 pmWell at least the last 15 minutes was exciting, well done to Fulham and especially Scott Parker, always admired him as a player, and now he's showing he's capable of stepping up to the managerial lark.

The one thing I'm pleased about is that Fulham will be down the bottom end (below us) and I won't care a jot, whereas I might have had a bit of sympathy for Brentford

Re: Brentford vs Fulham (the richest game in football)
Over the last few weeks of the season Brentford had 3 opportunities where victory would have taken them up into the PL but, sadly for them and their supporters, they failed to grasp the nettle losing to Stoke, Barnsley and tonight Fulham in the Play Off Final.

Re: Brentford vs Fulham (the richest game in football)
IDK maybe it's in the psyche of the club, yes it's true that it's not the same players or even management, but that record is shocking by anyone's standards, and even in the last 2 games of the league campaign promotion was in their own hands and they couldn't grasp the opportunity on offer.Stan Tastic wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 10:48 pmHow can it be a mentality problem when it hasn't been the same players or backroom staff for their nine attempts?
Compare that to Fulham who've been in the playoffs twice in 3 seasons, and twice they've came through, and handled the pressure.
Re: Brentford vs Fulham (the richest game in football)
I slightly favoured Brentford simply because it would be a completely different team in the PL but no issues either way and always kind of liked Fulham but the first goal was shocking and feel sorry for the poor guy, what a terrible few days/weeks he's going to have, he wont be enjoying his holidays at all!!
Interesting to see just how much Fulham will spend now in this window or if they have learnt a lesson from last time.

Anyone else think Scott Parker looks like a matinee film idol from the 1950’s?

Re: Brentford vs Fulham (the richest game in football)
For the brief time he was on the pitch Mitrovic was very lucky not to see a red card. I thought he might have learned a lesson after his 3 match ban for ' assaulting' an opponent v Leeds just after the restart after lockdown but obviously not.

Wasn’t impressed with Benrahma.
The comedy dive after the ball had hit the back of the net was hilarious though.

I think Fulham with Parker in charge from the start will make a better fist of things this time in the Premier.

Lasted about an hour before turning off absolute gash from both sides, it does though explain how a side as poor as West Brom managed to go up automatically

I sort of agree, a little like England and penalties or in major tournaments.tiger76 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 11:04 pmIDK maybe it's in the psyche of the club, yes it's true that it's not the same players or even management, but that record is shocking by anyone's standards, and even in the last 2 games of the league campaign promotion was in their own hands and they couldn't grasp the opportunity on offer.

Re: Brentford vs Fulham (the richest game in football)
Fortunate for us that England didn't worry about previous penalty shoot out failures with different players and coaching staff when they knocked out Colombia at the last World Cup.
Burnley didn't seem affected by all those defeats at Old Trafford in the sixties when we won 2-0 this season. It's such a lazy, nonsensical way of thinking.
"We haven't won there since 1962 and it's really affecting our game!"

Re: Brentford vs Fulham (the richest game in football)
I watched the game through out and it was poor.
Fulham play a lot of possession football and will come unstuck with this style in the Premier league
Brentford should have played a high tempo game and got in their faces instead of playing deep and letting Fulham tap it around, they deserved to get beat
