Banned Audi Advert
Even the car firm bosses seem bemused by the fact this ad was commissioned and aired.
Tis an odd one, to be sure.

I'd be more than a bit worried about the people who think that the little girl is there for sexual attraction.

I’m more worried about a car manufacturer not knowing the difference between ‘break’ and ‘brake’.

Spot on, it's only seen that way by the people who are interested in little girls in that way. I see a little girl in front of a parked car stuffing her face. Totllay innocent and no message semt out

I think you're right. This is only offensive if you have a dirty mind. My mum and dad have a photo of me somewhere as a three year old, wearing a tracksuit and red wellies, laughing while leaning against the grille of a 1976 red Ford Cortina. I'll have to have a word with them for their spectacular lack of judgement. After all, only perverts wear red wellies, the blue tracksuit is clearly a reference to Jimmy Saville and his exploits, and the red Ford Cortina is all about male sexual prowess.

It is the modern society which has been created and, like football, it is only going to get worse because people are being manipulated and losing the ability to think for themselves. In addition, when you do think for yourself and go against the attempted mannipulation 'they' start to bring you down.

Strange one. The Jeremy Vine show was on this morning and they were discussing this. JV was of the opinion that a young child in front of a car is a distasteful image regardless, whilst one of the members of the panel brought up the sexual connection of the banana etc. Myself, I didn't make either connection when I saw the advert and thought it totally innocent.

I see a kid eating a banana... imagine owning a sports car, while having a family too, it's big, it's safe...
That said, we are all talking about it and that what Audi wanted in the end anyway.

Re: Banned Audi Advert
I don’t buy the “senior management knew nothing about this” line.
Any advert that is commissioned will surely have to pass under the nose of some senior management official, and plenty of people will have known about it.
There’s some claptrap in the BBC article about the driver not being able to see the child stood in front of the car...that is true for most cars. Though I’m sure a car of that spec and value would have parking sensors / camera to pick up anything obstructing the way.
There will be a ban on banana’s next.

The belief that the world is on it's way to Hell in a handcart is seemingly outdated.
It's obviously an Audi

Re: Banned Audi Advert
Nothing wrong with the image in its own right, but when paired with the slogan "Lets your heart beat faster - in every aspect." it does look a bit odd.

Why is a child that young, being allowed to lean on the car in the first place?ClaretEngineer wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 3:46 pmI don’t buy the “senior management knew nothing about this” line.

Where are her parents?
If I had leaned on a car at that age, especially a "posh" car like that, I have been yanked away so fast I'd have dropped my banana
Re: Banned Audi Advert
Anyone who finds this disturbing clearly doesn't remember or saw Minipops in the early 80's on Channel 4. Now that was disturbing!

Re: Banned Audi Advert
Almost beyond belief that anyone could see a sexual connotation , the message being 2 things in life which mean so much/emotions of protection/excitement etc . I’ve little doubt ( though I stand corrected ) that those guardians of our morals on Twitter have frothed themselves into a self righteous virtuous frenzy on our behalf .
Though just for absolute transparency the guy driving past during the banana eating is a tad out of place ...

Just started crying with laughter when I read that, then saw your user name is Sausage Brilliant and to add my penneth, I had no sexual thoughts at all regarding that advert, I just think some people look to much at some of this stuff, just to find something to moan about.Sausage wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 3:22 pmI think you're right. You'd think though, wouldn't you, whoever was in charge of approving the finished ad might have looked at the slogan "Lets your heart beat faster - in every aspect." and thought, "Mmmmm, not so sure about this", bearing in mind one of their finest is currently in the frame for Maddie McCann's abduction.

I've seen something similar stuck to the front of our local green bin recycling truck.

Re: Banned Audi Advert
Don't be silly. The child would quickly drop the banana on being struck and..... fall off the front of the truck when it stopped.
I've seen mannequins, dolls, stuffed toys, big dummies ......

Don't be a dick, I was actually laughing at what I took to be one of your jokes made in reply to my joke.
I thought yours was quite amusing but I'm sorry if you're offended, love, and yup, the joke really, really, really was on me ....

The ad may have been ok if it was accompanied by a warning that eating a banana does not make a child immune to injury from any moving high performance vehicle.

Re: Banned Audi Advert
It would have been better if they had given a warning that the content of the advert may upset some people and then give them a number to ring.
Give a warning for everything, just on case, seems to be the modern way of doing things.
