Goalkeeper bid rejected by Bournemouth
Goalkeeper bid rejected by Bournemouth
Apparently Bournemouth have rejected a bid in excess of £12m from Sheffield United for goalkeeper and Player of the Year Aaron Ramsdale.
This should spark a lot of debate about Henderson and his future even back to Man U and De Gea.
The £12m bid looks low to me but.............

Re: Goalkeeper bid rejected
If Pope were to leave I'd like to think we'd be looking at Ramsdale.

Hands up who else thought that we'd had a bid rejected for a goalkeeper.

Sorry about that, not meant to cause that issue, yes Tony bought from SU for 1 million, good return at the asking price but not going to happen.

I really don't rate Ramsdale.
I wouldn't want him near TM.

for me no interest in Ramsdale but am interested in where Henderson goes and the knock on effects of that. Chelsea and the interest in Pope dropped for example

Ramsdale looks a good keeper to me!
Re: Goalkeeper bid rejected by Bournemouth
Sell Nick Pope for £60m
Buy Aaron Ramsdale for £20m
Invest the £40m profit from these deals and an extra outlay of £15m on buying a right back, right winger, central defender and a centre midfielder
Sorted!
This buying and selling of footballers lark is so easy

Re: Goalkeeper bid rejected by Bournemouth
I like Ramsdale. But I don’t think he’s what we need. There’s a lot of flash Harry about him but he rarely comes for a cross without it being panic stations. (Eddies defense ,basically). If we need to replace Nick we should go for someone of similar commandeering attitude.
Re: Goalkeeper bid rejected by Bournemouth
So we basically want a keeper that’s exactly like Nick Pope, but not Nick Pope!CharlieinNewMexico wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2020 8:59 amI like Ramsdale. But I don’t think he’s what we need. Re: Goalkeeper bid rejected by Bournemouth
Bournemouth have accepted a bid of £18.5 million from Sheff Utd for Ramsdale.
There's no way they'll pay that for a 2nd choice keeper so I wonder where Dean Henderson is going?

I think Simon Tracey still has some influence regarding the goalkeeping department aside from Northampton, either way with 1 incoming pending certainly means DH leaving.

Re: Goalkeeper bid rejected by Bournemouth
We know that, but Utd want to send him back out on loan again so most assumed he'd go back to Sheff Utd where he's been for 2yrs.
DH wants to be first choice at Man Utd but Ole is persisting with De Gea for how.

Re: Goalkeeper bid rejected by Bournemouth
It will be interesting to see how Sheffield United get on this coming season. Henderson was a big part of the reason they stayed up so comfortably, he made some great saves. Ramsdale, in my opinion, is nowhere near as good a keeper.
Re: Goalkeeper bid rejected by Bournemouth
Surely that's increased Pope's valuation.
Ramsdale isn't very good

We are being linked with Jack Butland if Pope goes to Chelsea.

If thats true I wouldn't mind but.... Popey is the best English keeper at the moment imhoclaretandy wrote: ↑Sat Aug 15, 2020 3:47 pmWe are being linked with Jack Butland if Pope goes to Chelsea.

There's a good reason why Michael oneill dropped him - following which the back four looked much more solid and Stoke stayed up. They may have stayed up if he hadn't made that move, but it was touch and go.

Could it be that we sell Nick Pope to Chelsea and sign Henderson on a seasons loan from Man Utd

Re: Goalkeeper bid rejected by Bournemouth
Bournemouth aren't half selling the family silver, first Ake now Ramsdale, who'll be next to flee the nest, my guess is Callum Wilson, added to this they've lost Ryan Fraser for nothing, I sense they're not going to find the Championship as easy as many predicted.,

Re: Goalkeeper bid rejected by Bournemouth
Initially that idea sounds bonkers, but further thought it starts to make some sense.
Ole doesn't have to drop De Gea who has been United's best player over the past 5 years - he drops £10m off his asking price overnight if they drop him from the 11. We cash in on Pope and can offer Manchester United's next long term goalkeeper a season of premier Legaue football behind a well drilled defence, some coaching from Mercer, and a hell of a lot of good experience.
It's not out of the realms of possibility.
If this happens I predict BPF dislodges him and ends up being the next top keeper off our production line.

Re: Goalkeeper bid rejected
You honestly thought Bournemouth, lately of the championship, had bid for Pope?
Ok, so the title didn’t mention AFCB, but I’m sure when you saw the name, you chilled a bit eh?
That figure is a bit of a shocker tho... I would’ve expected that number to be double what it is.

Re: Goalkeeper bid rejected by Bournemouth
I very much doubt we would look at getting in a first choice goalkeeper on loan no matter what the circumstances.
Sheff U know they are not going to get Henderson back on loan because he’s either going to force United to sell him or presumably offer him first team opportunities.
Re: Goalkeeper bid rejected by Bournemouth
is getting Tom back an option if we sell Nick, we would have the money and should have money left over.

If Pope leaves and Henderson comes to Burnley then Henderson should definitely be England’s number one.

Re: Goalkeeper bid rejected by Bournemouth
Never thought i'd say this, but i hope not Kate...
TBH i'd sooner go with an untested BPF than bring Tom back. His recent injury record is quite worrying i'd imagine for AVFC fans...
Last time we fielded an untested keeper at this level didn't work out too bad, so yeah i'd go with what we have.

If Pope goes would be happy with Butland - a good age and could get him at a good price.
