Aberdeen match postponed as their players are covidiots
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53694742 The Scottish fixture calendar is already crowded enough without matches having to be rescheduled, due to a bunch of dafties.

Yet more proof (if it was needed) if brains were chocolate ... that a lot of Footballers couldn't fill a 'smartie'

Re: Aberdeen match postponed as their players are covidiots
When I saw this news earlier today I'd no idea it was anything but unfortunate, but for players to have gone into a bar is just downright ridiculous. I think they should have been forced to play and had they not been able to raise a team then forfeit the game.

Players should face a lengthy ban and Aberdeen should have forfeited the points. Jimmy Krankie isn't a happy bunny. Lol

Bit late to the party lads. This news is 24hours old. We're deep in discussion on Chat and almost unanimous in agreement that the players and manager must leave the club.

They could, as part of the punishment, suspend them from the match or matches they would have missed while isolating.
Presumably Aberdeen are having to pay all St. Johnstone's costs of postponement?

Plenty of our players are in bars all round Europe at the minute. All plastered all over social media. They are no different.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2020 5:18 pmWhen I saw this news earlier today I'd no idea it was anything but unfortunate, but for players to have gone into a bar is just downright ridiculous. The point of the thread is about the match being postponed and the precedent it sets because the players were meant to stay in their ‘bubble’.HunterST_BFC wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2020 1:22 amCovid remains regardless of the Football seasons.

People are allowed to go to a pub or bar in off season.

There is a significant difference in degree between "don't go into a bar because you might catch something" and "don't go into a bar because you might catch something and bring massive disruption to the football season and hundreds pf your fellow professionals".HunterST_BFC wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2020 1:22 amCovid remains regardless of the Football seasons.

As long as they are following whatever rules there are where they are holidaying what is the problem? They aren't breaking the agreement that their government has insisted upon for the resumption of their football season. I'll bet Man City, Arsenal, Man Utd and Wolves players aren't in bars all over Europe at the minute given their season's haven't yet come to an end.HunterST_BFC wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2020 2:04 amTry putting a bar crawl in that statement. And, secondly, are you accusing BFC players of this? Or a majority of Premier League players? Or just the same few numpties that post pictures of themselves doing dodgy or totally stupid stuff all the time?

Let’s be honest. It’s happening everywhere. Footballers or otherwise. Pubs in Burnley absolutely packed to the rafters.bfcmik wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2020 8:47 amAs long as they are following whatever rules there are where they are holidaying what is the problem? I walked past one well known popular one yesterday. It looked like we had won the champions league.
I’m not criticising the Burnley players. I am making the point the Aberdeen ones are no different. Granted their season has started.

Re: Aberdeen match postponed as their players are covidiots
It’s entirely different. The Scottish government laid down precise guidance to follow so the season could go ahead. They ignored it and jeopardised their season. Burnley FC players (and others) need only adhere to the laws of the land and are allowed to go to a bar whether here or abroad.cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2020 9:03 amLet’s be honest. The players involved have now been named, most of them are senior 1st team regulars, no wonder they're happy the St Johnstone game is off.

Not related to football but...
Heard on the radio that the snooker was held up because of a player sitting in the wrong seat, which then had to be cleaned. Wondered if sports people will start to use covid-19 measures a tactic?

The latest bit of nonsense involving a Scottish Footballer is the Celtic player Boli Bolingoli who went to Spain without telling the Club, came back and played for them without bothering with quarantine.
The Scottish Government are considering pausing football.
I seriously wonder if some players have anything between their ears.

Re: Aberdeen match postponed as their players are covidiots
Yep just seen Nicola Sturgeon's news briefing and she's not happy, if football is postponed or cancelled then the clubs will only have themselves to blame, they were trusted to abide by the rules set out with the Scottish Government, and that's why they got the go ahead to commence the season, they are in a privileged position compared to much of society, and surely it's not asking a huge amount for them to obey simple instructions, well they are continuing to receive their wages in full, and unlike a lot of employees they have job security.
I actually have sympathy for the clubs, both Aberdeen and Celtic were unaware of these breaches, and once they found out they've responded as quickly as they could, ultimately the players have to take personal responsibility for their actions, how hard is it for them to go to training and then go home.
I don't know about the season being culled, but clearly the FM has made it crystal clear that neither Aberdeen or Celtic will be playing anytime soon, i do have some sympathy with their opponents who through no fault of their own will be penalised, maybe the threat of matches being awarded to the other teams affected will focus the minds of everybody in the Scottish game, and if that's what it takes to get the message across then so be it.

This situation can’t be repeated. Forfeit the cancelled fixture plus 3 point deduction should put a stop to it.
Not just in Scotland, this should become the norm.

Why not adopt the same situation in England?huw.Y.WattfromWare wrote: ↑Tue Aug 11, 2020 3:12 pmThis situation can’t be repeated. Forfeit the cancelled fixture plus 3 point deduction should put a stop to it.

Should we have been penalised with a three point deduction for Ian Woan being found positive as there was a small risk other players in our squad could have got the virus?
I think they are massively overreacting in Scotland when the Premier league handled our situation, likewise with the rest of European football, very well with any positive tests.

Re: Aberdeen match postponed as their players are covidiots
They should be, internationally. Ian Woan was an early incident when nobody(Cummings) was sure of the rules. By now they all know what’s going on and action must be taken. It can’t be retro-active but if laid down they would abide by the rules or suffer the consequences.Spijed wrote: ↑Tue Aug 11, 2020 3:38 pmWhy not adopt the same situation in England?

Woan didn't catch coronavirus through his own fault. The punishment is for breaking rules (which is something they chose to do) not for becoming ill.Spijed wrote: ↑Tue Aug 11, 2020 3:38 pmWhy not adopt the same situation in England?

Celtic, Aberdeen & players charged over alleged Covid-19 breaches https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53783017
Clearly actions do have consequences and on this particular occasion the consequences could be severe for both clubs, hopefully this swift action should serve as a warning to other footballers not to behave like eejits.
