Re: Wayne Fontana
Just reading his obituary, way before my time, but he sounds an eccentric character. RIP Wayne.

Met them on a horse tram in Douglas 1965. All of us a bit worse for wear.

Re: Wayne Fontana
It was 'Something keeps calling me back,' the B side to Pamela, Pamela that was the cool track to play in the Burnley soul scene.

Re: Wayne Fontana
I played drums with my band on the same bill as WF and the Mindbenders about three times I think it was: Burnley Casino club, the Ritz Manchester and a strange little Cavern type place over Bacup way somewhere. Glynn Ellis was his real name, a very quiet, thoughtful guy off stage whilst Eric and the boys in the band were great lads. Another English Rocknroller leaves us with great memories. RIP Wayne Fontana.

Re: Wayne Fontana
Aclaret. Life in the sixties was a blur for most teenagers and being in a band even more so. All I remember is we went over to Bacup way somewhere I'm guessing about 1694/5. It might not have been Bacup itself, but one of the small towns over that way. It wasn't a big place, about the same size as Paradise Island used to be in Burnley. It looked like a cavern in side with painted brick walls and scary type paraphernalia on the walls. We were first on the bill and they were the 'famous' recording stars. We did two shows and they did just the one. It might have been Waterfoot or Luddenden Foot or some place like that. As I say I was playing five nights a week all over the country and this was just one of many gigs.
Re: Wayne Fontana
Keith Fletcher on radio lancs played three of his songs tonight including the northern soul track. I now know who the G Ellis is who wrote a lot of his songs, it was Wayne himself. RIP.
