Funniest thing you have seen at a football match
Funniest thing you have seen at a football match
Off the top of my head.....
Bertie Bee nailing a streaker
Birmingham fan (away game) being chased by the police As he was hurdling the seats. It soon became apparent his legs were moving too fast for his body and with a “Wooooooooooo...wheyyyy!!” He crashed into the seats and was quickly nicked.
Barney Rubble invading the pitch. Fulham away in the 90s. Bloke was leathered so didn’t get far

Outside pre-match at the same game,
Slightly drunk Burnley fan bouncing an inflatable sheep off his groin whilst shouting 'Yorkshire Clarets, Yorkshire Clarets'.
An ajacent police inspector just shook his head and walked away.

Re: Funniest thing you have seen at a football match
The lad at Birmingham for me too.
He was trying to run down the stand not on the steps but on the backs of the plastic chairs.
He did very well to retain his balance for the first 8 or 9 but the further he progressed, the more he built up speed. It was always a case of when -not if- he fell and the entire away end were all just waiting for him to go.
By the time he came crashing down he was almost at terminal velocity which meant he crumpled at a terrific pace into a heap. Me, my Dad and the mate who was sat with us were genuinely bent double with laughter for about 5 minutes.
It was so funny it hurt.

On Deadwood. Not against us. Guy in crowd constantly blowing a whistle. Appeals go out nothing changes. After a kerfuffle in the crowd 4 cops carry this guy upside down around the pitch perimeter from the Town End to down the tunnel. Dropping him every 5yds, accidentally kicking him!, then pick up and repeat. Walking behind all this is their sergeant spinning a whistle on a string.
Re: Funniest thing you have seen at a football match
Stockport fans giving it large before the play off and then seeing them gathered in a tiny corner of Wembley was pretty funny.
Have to admit Iaughed out loud when Godfrey scored that own goal the other week for Norwich.
Charlie Adam attempting to take a corner and falling on his arse.

Re: Funniest thing you have seen at a football match
Take your pick from ...
1) The moment both benches realised what was about to happen when Andy Cole went chasing after Darren Purse
2) Those dogs they used to parade at half time
3) Ball rolling off Bob Lord stand and landing on player’s head (I’m easily amused)
4) Chico
5) Kevin Ball scything Fatty Dunn in half
6) A second vote for the fan at Blackpool who got carted off
7) Djimi Traore’s own goal
8) The parachutist who got stuck on the Cricket Field end roof
9) Gifton’s penalty
10) The Reading defender who launched the ball into touch every time he kicked it and got dog’s abuse

Re: Funniest thing you have seen at a football match
Away at Reading in 2014, we'd already earned promotion, they thought they'd made the playoffs so invaded the pitch in celebration, but hadn't realised the results had gone against them at the end.
Naturally we were really sympathetic....
Great day out and I had a good laugh waiting for the bus back to Reading on my own, bit of aggro but there were a number of decent Reading fans telling their idiots to eff off and leave me alone.

Birmingham, they had an old fashioned home/away cell, he came in as myself and 2 mates were in for basically drunk and disorderly, he was offering us out despite being about 14. We just laughed and wound him up, he was still doing it at the station, thankfully we’ve grown up but I doubt he will have done

Versus Derby in the FA Cup... The one with the legendary aftermatch hysteria I think.
The first match was abandoned due to fog.
The rearranged game had a rather rotund Derby fan with an old football rattle.
When we were on the verge of losing, 3000+ Clarets fans turned their attention to the Derby fan and sang... Who ate all the fog? Who ate all the fog? You fat ba5tard, You fat ba5tard, You ate all the fog!

Aa far as I'm aware the mistake by them wasn't featured on Sky, even though it must never have happened before.

Strangest, Danny Fox falling injured at Selhirst Park and a fox coming on the pitch at the same time and running across and leaping on to a roof and away. It could have been smuggled in by a Burnley fan to create a faux-serendipity.

I remember saying at the time that we were fortunate it wasn’t our goalkeeper (Beast) who was down injured. It actually got into the stand across from us with home fans falling over each other to get out of the way.

Re: Funniest thing you have seen at a football match
Wycombe away on a Tuesday night in April 1997. Losing 4-0 at half-time, Rocky & Selwyn took off their Burnley tops and threw them into the back of the net in disgust. They then indulged in a bit of playful topless wrestling & watched the second half bare-chested.

The bloke who brought his date onto the longside... early 90s.
She tottered on in heels and dressed up all nice.
We were playing Cardiff on a Tuesday night when I think it was Robbie Painter scored after 16 seconds.
She disappeared under the ensuing melee and we didn’t see her again.

We took a German Lad Stefan and his girlfriend to watch Burnley v Hull back in the mid 90's ... funniest thing was my Stepsons (1st) wife Tanja translating the rather unkind chants about the referee into German for Stefan's girlfriend who spoke very little English at the time, and her creasing up...
.... Stefan reciprocated our hospitality with a trip to Shalke for us the following Season ....

I seem to remember our physio, who was quite large, getting abuse one game for his size.
Half way though was required on the pitch, ran on dealt with the injury and then turned to the away fans and proceeded to take a bite out of a pie?!
Am I imagining this? I was only a small kid...

Ireland v Georgia I think it was 2014 , anyway around 400 Irish fans in the away end yer man in front of me about two rows in front was asleep the whole game and i mean the whole game , Ireland score in the 89th minute to win the game 2-1 we all go mad in the away end , now yer man wakes up and said " who scored " some lad said they did then went back to sleep .
Trust me we left at the end and he was still asleep , talk about drunk or what .

A couple of birds having a shag on top of a stand roof at crystal Palace with the home fans underneath not having a clue what the cheering was about.
A Newcastle fan last game of the season in fancy dress climbing up the floodlight that was in the away end at Nottingham forest. I think it was dressed as sylvester the cat or a pink panther, being chased by the police trying to get him down. That was the day of the Orient game but I had to drive a minibus to forest.
