Durham v Lancs

Post by tiger76 » Sat Aug 08, 2020 6:00 pm

Great day for Lancs, 180 all out for Durham, so if Lancs can bat well they should be on course for a much needed victory.

Hmm! not the best of mornings for Lancs, both openers gone cheaply, 60-2 with the middle order facing a repair job again.

Livingstone gone now 138-4, still trailing by 40, need a few more from the lower order, as we don't want to be chasing too many batting last.

Going better now 173-4 50 for Bohannon, should be able to build a good lead from here.

Tea Lancs are 199/5 - a lead of 19.

I don't think that they will be playing any home games in this competition which makes it difficult being on the road constantly and playing on wickets designed for home assistance.

217-6 so a useful lead for Lancs, another 30-40 would be very handy.

238-6 lead over 50 now, Bohannon is playing a good hand 75 unbeaten. and he's been at the crease for over 5 hours now, this just shows how difficult this pitch must be for scoring, that's why 1st innings runs are crucial for Lancashire.

Still a good lead get that up to about 100, and Lancs are well in the game.

Lancs 273/8 from 94 overs. Another 27 runs from the next 16 overs would earn another batting point.

Wood gone for an excellent 46, 284-9 so a lead of over 100, that should be very handy if we bowl well tomorrow, weather permitting of course.

I took a break once they took lunch. Brilliant to see we've got another three wickets since. The potential for winning by an innings never crossed my mind this morning.

Looks like an easy win for Lancs but Durham are a dispirited mob these days. The spirit was knocked out of them by the ECB's unfair points deductions and consequent relegation a few years ago.

A good win, albeit against a bankrupt second division side. Even Yorkshire beat them easily.

The only difference is, we keep a sensible view of it. All the glory hunters, supporting their cricket in Yorkshire, but football in Lancashire, got proper giddy about it last week. Especially that lad in Bury - who thinks Earby is in Yorkshire.

Impressive from Lancs, but the quality of the opposition has to be taken into account, still a least we have a win on the board, Derbyshire & Torkshire look like being the critical games if we're going to top the group.

Astonishing game at Canterbury, Kent piled up 530-1 declared, with unbeaten double centuries for Cox & Leaning in a partnership of 423, before skittling Sussex in their 2nd innings and wrapping up an innings victory.

Just as the goalposts don't move for a striker, neither does Earby.

Here he is getting all giddy again. They get a couple of flat track bullies back from being beaten by Ireland, against a Notts side shorn of all their England talent, and whoop it up about winning again.

It's like the glory hunters are when they're winning in the T20 competition.......

You must be getting very worried again that the production line is back in full swing with local talent Thompson, Coad, Leech, Brook etc.

Meanwhile at slogging HQ, relying on your local lads like Jennings and Vilas as your mainstays is clearly the way .

At least there's Crofty as well.

Could do with some comedy figures like Saj with his 90mph beemers and Haseeb "pavillion clearer" Hameed coming through to provide further amusement.

Never worried, just another bunch of hype merchants like Pies, The Barrel, The Racist, Steve Stifler, Adildo, Flat Track Ballance, Gollum/Voldemort and Cymbals Bairstow.

No doubt they'll all be fast tracked into the England team, and fast tracked back out again. Even Joe Root has gone from big 4 (never really in it) to averaging about the same as Joe Denly. I'm sure there'll be an ask for Ballance to join back up with the England squad soon.... we might need his recent test average of 9 somewhere along the line. He might have been better sticking with Zimbabwe.

Meanwhile in Lancashire, we'll look for somebody to take over from England's GREATEST EVER bowler. Yorkshire don't have the greatest of anything do they? Greatest bottle job down at Taunton beating their own personal best.
