That's really sad news. Having spent a wonderful week there, the people couldn't be friendlier, and the island so unspoilt.
These disasters always run their course, but even so the immediate negative impact, especially to the environment can be horrific.

It’s down in the SE corner of the island, near the airport.
What the hell is a ship doing that close to land when there are known coral reefs there.

Huge disaster. Mauritius is so beautiful and the people so friendly. The reefs are just awesome. Thoughts go out to DaveManu. Let’s hope the World helps them clean up this environmental disaster.
