John Lundstram
Sheff United open to offers for him as they’re unable to agree a new contract. Only got 12 months remaining on his current deal that they triggered late on in the season so as not to lose him for free.
Only 26. Surely a player who should be within our reach financially and would improve the squad giving us a bank of 4 good central midfielders for the first time in a very long time! In fact I genuinely can’t remember when we last had 4 central midfielders at the club!

You must have a very short memory, we had four until just a few weeks ago .

Re: John Lundstram
Mentioned it on the “not linked to us but...”thread. Looks a perfect SD player, although most of the SheffU team do.
Re: John Lundstram
I assume FeedtheArf is referring to genuine competition between comparable midfielders vying for first team berths rather than the number of midfielders.

Re: John Lundstram
Fair point. Ok, I can’t remember when we last had 4 central midfielders for more than 5 games before contract issues make one effectively unavailable - though I still can’t see why we couldn’t use the players when they’re quite happy to pick the wages up!
Re: John Lundstram
Just reading that Sheff Utd want to replace Lundstram with John Swift from Reading. I am sure there's a few people on here who've brought Swift's name up as one we should be looking at.

Re: John Lundstram
Yes for me. Ran us ragged when they battered us early in the season.
Re: John Lundstram
Think he wants to leave as he'll want to be a regular starter. He lost his place in the team to Berge in the second half of the season and probably fall further down the pecking order over the Summer. Would we give him reassurances of a starting place? In place of who?

Re: John Lundstram
He has had a great season. Never really know, because of the way Sheff Utd play, what position their players are. He reminds me of Scott Arfield, box to box-gives you 100% each game

Re: John Lundstram
I was one of the many who rates Jon Swift
Reading are skint and Swift is a very good player in a poor side
This is the sort of player we need to be signing ex Chelsea and still young enough to develop and sell on .I also rate Lundstram hes a tough tackling goal scoring cm an upgrade on what we have at present
Also I rate Lunstram

Re: John Lundstram
Lundstrum is a curious one. Hardly played in the Championship promotion season for Blades, had a good pre season so forced his way into the side and enjoyed a real purple patch early in the Prem season.
Blades fans seem ambivalent about losing him, many say he had a good half season, played well in a few games but the overall feeling is that he lacks consistency, albeit does get involved at the business end. Not unlike Hendrick, then.
From my observations of him he likes a good late run into the box from a deeper midfield position, he certainly scored a couple of his goals via that route last season.
Won’t be on big money and a move to us would be a bit closer to his Scouse roots.

Good for the fantasy football team. Beyond that, looked no better than what we have in the admittedly few games I saw him play.

Re: John Lundstram
I'd have him.
all depends on price and contract, obviously.

Re: John Lundstram
He'd be far from guaranteed starts in the middle but he'd be well suited to the Hendrick, narrow RM role, when we're playing it. Might even be an upgrade, bit more of an eye for goal?
I imagine we'd have been better off just keeping Hendrick by the time you factor wages and a fee, but we'd be better with Lundstram + winger than with just another winger, or neither.

Re: John Lundstram
Shouldn't be looked at as a replacement for, more like "added to". It should be a squad game.

A very good player who should be a perfect fit for us
