Daniel Sturridge
Wants a PL return. Would you have him?
Re: Daniel Sturridge
No,why on earth would we even consider it,when we already have four better strikers than him!
Re: Daniel Sturridge
Didnt he have one good season feeding off Saurez then dissappear into oblivion.

Re: Daniel Sturridge
Ability wise, Sturridge is better than anything we have got. The issue is what's in between his ears.
For that reason alone I can't see Burnley (or many other Premier League clubs) being overly interested in taking him.

Re: Daniel Sturridge
No chance.
Capable of magic on his day. And had an excellent season the year they almost won the league.
But injuries, age, attitude and general lack of game time means he wouldnt be worth a gamble.

Re: Daniel Sturridge
Someone said of Sturridge... I think it was during an England match when he was having a particularly poor game and he scored a not too shabby goal.
"Sturridge isn't a great goal scorer but he does score great goals"

Re: Daniel Sturridge
is he? You have to go back over six years now to a season where he actually played regularly. That was an exceptional season for him, playing alongside Suarez

I can see Villa having a punt.
Re: Daniel Sturridge
So we just have 1 striker who is better than Sturridge?
Which one is it?
Re: Daniel Sturridge
Wouldn't be surprised to see him back
Leeds, Palace, Villa, WBA and even Newcastle

Exactly the clubs that sprung to mind for me. He'll sign with a bit of a fanfare, then spend most of the season sat on his arse.

Don't believe the 'bad attitude' tag. I worked with him for 2 full days of filming for a kids charity and he went above and beyond. You could see how much he loved football and sharing his fantastic ability. Few years back now but a quality player, with a great pedigree.... if he's fit we could do a lot worse.

I remembered that he had a four-month ban back in March for breaching betting rules, I suppose he's been quite lucky to serve that during the pandemic.

Re: Daniel Sturridge
Mildly surprised by the dismissive comments.
Would obviously be dependent on salary and fitness, but I wonder if Dyche thinks he could offer something different for the squad. Had a stop start career but obviously has quality and Iβd argue he has more in terms of ability than Barnes and Vydra.

Re: Daniel Sturridge
I think Barnes, J Rod & Wood are all capable of 15 goals in the Prem if they play the full season - which is really impressive for a club like Burnley. Dyche has said he is happy with his strike force options. All depends on Vydra if he wants to stay as 3rd choice... I think we need a hungry, early 20's yo striker willing to learn and bide his time.

Re: Daniel Sturridge
Surprisingly he's only scored 10 or more league goals in a season 3 times.
322 club appearances and 112 goals would suggest he's not going to be prolific very often.
Chris Wood has already scored more to put it into perspective.

He looks tailor made for West Ham. They must have a long term vacancy on the treatment table to accompany Jack Wheelchair now that Andy Carroll has taken his injuries elsewhere.

I'm surprised no one has ever changed the playing position Wilsheres wiki page to something like the physios table.Herts Clarets wrote: βTue Aug 11, 2020 12:45 pmHe looks tailor made for West Ham. Averaged 15 games per season since 2008 according to Wiki and has managed the grand total of 16 appearances in 2 years for West Ham.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: βTue Aug 11, 2020 12:49 pmI'm surprised no one has ever changed the playing position Wilsheres wiki page to something like the physios table.

No wonder the manager who was there when he signed only wanted Jack to have a 1 Yr deal, the club over ruled him and gave him 3yrsHerts Clarets wrote: βTue Aug 11, 2020 1:17 pmAveraged 15 games per season since 2008 according to Wiki and has managed the grand total of 16 appearances in 2 years for West Ham.

Re: Daniel Sturridge
NO! Might score two spectacular goals in a season, do his ridiculous "celebration " then contribute nothing much else. He simply has never shown the kind of work rate needed to be a Burnley player in the present day.
Must be a slow news day on Sky Sports news to keep showing that interview.

Re: Daniel Sturridge
He's a luxury player that comes with risks and, unfortunately for him in the current climate, there aren't many clubs taking risks.
As said above, not many would doubt his ability but Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool have all been happy to wave him off so something doesn't sit right.

Re: Daniel Sturridge
I don't want to say how I know him. We aren't best buddies or anything like that and it is just a limited amount of information but it's not good and I wouldn't want him anywhere near. Not our type of character.Passing Clouds wrote: βTue Aug 11, 2020 11:14 amDon't believe the 'bad attitude' tag. Ps. It doesn't make him a bad person just not a winning mentality. Possibly explains why his talent has pretty much gone to waste.
