PL: Goal of the Season

Post by ClaretTony » Thu Aug 13, 2020 10:16 am

Matěj Vydra might not have won it but we did get a mention - winner was scored against us by Son Heung-min

If there was an award for amateurish defending that goal was it.

It was pathetic the way we didn't even attempt to make a decent challenge.

It wasn't great defending, but it wasn't bad.
It wasn’t a great goal. No skill involved, just speed. Son happens to be faster than anyone in Burnleys backline, it shouldn't be a shock that he out sprinted them.

Vyds was technically a lot better gial, and even his shouldn't have been goal of the season.

I’d have been upset if that goal was scored against my lad’s under 9s team, let alone a Premier League side.

It was shocking defending, completely un-Burnley like.

Some of these replies are hilarious.

Yes the defending wasn’t the best. Starting with tarks in their box.

But the pace, dribbling, composure and finish were superb. Fantastic goal.

I bet he wouldn't have scored that goal against either Liverpool or Man City.

Simply because they would have committed a simple foul to stop him getting very far.

That's why it was a very poor goal to give away, bordering on stupidity

Dean Marney would have dropped him 40 yards out.
